In today’s episode, I keep the spooky Halloween spirit going and talk about why we often feel so scared to write! I dive into some of the ways that I coach people through naming the fears, how our body responds to these fears, and what might support you in moving with and through the fear (yes, my dear, the fear is gonna be there no matter what!).

Some highlights from the episode are:

    • Normalizing fear as a part of our writing process
    • Exploring the meaning we are giving to the fear showing up
    • Where the fear comes from
    • What is really going on when we get scared and nervous about our writing

Many writers don’t think about the interior formatting of their book! Today I asked the amazing designer and published author, Melisa Graham, to give us the nitty gritty on all the things you need to consider for the inside of your book.

We discussed what Melisa considers the top 4 elements involved when formatting the beautiful pages of your book:

    1. Your readers’ expectations based on the genre, your previous work, etc.
    2. Your desires for your readers’ experience as they read your book
    3. The cover and fulfilling the expectations it creates
    4. The technical stuff like licensing high-resolution images, your printer’s specifications, etc.

Whether you are DIY publishing or getting support, you’ll want to know all of these!

Growing up in Campbell, California as one of eight siblings, Jeff learned the value of serving others. Mostly by witnessing his mother – “The Rock,” on a daily basis.  The Pizza Day Series is inspired to share life’s values through the pizza making process experience. Igniting greatness in people through storytelling is one of Jeff’s goals in writing The Pizza Day Series.  Jeff believes in all people, and is passionate in encouraging everyone to overcome life’s challenges. His keys to success? Take time to slow down, to truly see each other, to be seen, and listen with intention to one another.
The Pizza Day Series takes young readers, families, teachers, teams, or anyone else interested, on a journey to better themselves. Each book in the series follows an inspirational journey of communication, chemistry, consistency, and creativity (C4). The four tenets of his Non-Profit group, C4 Leaders.   Each story will encourage the reader to “light the fuse”, or ¬¬take action, to implement C4 into their daily lives.
Jeff is a husband, father, registered nurse, basketball coach, podcast host of Life’s Essential Ingredients, and is the founder of the nonprofit organization––C4 Leaders®.  All proceeds from the sale of his books goes toward the nonprofit.  C4 Leaders® uses pizza and pizza making to build community at no financial cost to the participants. (Although, donations are accepted and appreciated).
