Xenia and the Art of Luxury Retail with Ian Carter Chairman of Watches of Switzerland Group

Xenia and the Art of Luxury Retail with Ian Carter Chairman of Watches of Switzerland Group

The much-coveted Birkin bag or a Ferrari is unattainable for most people. Although these luxury goods may be out of sight price-wise for the majority of consumers, retailers who don’t allow aspirational browsing, are the ones who are out of touch. Subscribing to the idea that Xenia (genuine hospitality) is good for business — for both the browser and buyer alike is the topic of this conversation with Ian Carter, Chairman of Watches of Switzerland Group, the world’s leading retailer of luxury watch brands, and the owner and partner of The Exclusive Automotive Group of Washington DC, dealers of Aston Martin, Bentley, Koenigsegg, and Karma luxury vehicles.

    145 - Gummo (1997) Review

    145 - Gummo (1997) Review

In the first week of Fucked Up February, we review Gummo, which is Harmony Korine's debut film and a disturbing mashup of what purposeless life looks like in middle America.  In Gummo, residents pass time in their tornado-struck town.

While not a traditional horror movie, Gummo is unconventionally scary in that it harbors many disturbing scenes and depicts a lifestyle of giving up or what it appears for a community to live without purpose. Shane has been trying to review a Harmony Korine movie for the longest time and he finally got his wish in our most fucked up month of the year. Watch the movie and catch our review.

39 - New York, New York & Xenia, OH (Knock It Off, Ya Numbskull!)

First, Emily takes on the infamous murder of Kitty Genovese - and the (supposed) 38 people who were bystanders to her murder. Then, Rachel talks about the super storm that birthed 148 tornadoes that swept across 13 states, causing massive destruction -- especially to Xenia, Ohio. Hopefully, you're horrified.

    Trigger Warning: rape, natural disasters

    Gouden Piramide: Xenia Leiden
