Merijn is krap halverwege op zijn surfreis naar London en door een ongunstige wind bij Zweden bevindt hij zich nu in de Oostzee bij het Duitse Kiel in plaats van aan de westkust. Hij moet nu het Kielerkanaal doorsteken naar de Noordzee alleen dat mag niet op een windsurfboard :)

Esther Leystra, zijn steun en toeverlaat in deze expeditie interviewt Merijn over zijn voortgang. Je hoort zijn tegenslagen, klein ongemak zoals een tekenbeet in zijn linker tepel en heroïsche momenten terwijl hij langs de westkust van Zweden afzakt naar Kiel. Daarbij hoor je zijn mijmeringen terwijl hij ergens op een onbewoond eiland onder zeil gaat - letterlijk onder zijn surfzeil met een peddel als tentstok.

Het doel van deze expeditie is aandacht voor de plastic afvalstroom die vanuit de Thames in London veelal in de Noorse en Zweedse fjorden eindigt omdat er in Engeland nog geen statiegeld geheven wordt op plastic pet-flesjes.
