Memory Machine #63 - The History (and Present!) of Text Adventures

For this episode of the podcast, Nate has on Jason Dyer to talk about the wide and wonderful world of interactive fiction, from its nascent period with "game books" all the way up to present day interactive fiction competitions. Jason Dyer is a prolific blogger on the topic of interactive fiction, and his blog Renga in Blue is a testament to his passion. Check it out - there's a lot to discover in there!

Zork Zero: The Revenge of Megaboz

It's another game with a colon in the title, as Kay and Carrington tackle the ninth game in the increasingly inaccurately named Zork Trilogy. This one wraps up the entire Zork series, and (maybe) (kinda) explains everything. It all started long ago west of a white house, but how will it end? And what comes next? Episode 68 - Zork

    Episode 68 - Zork
Make sure you have some extra batteries for your lamp, this episode we are delving into the depths of Zork. Written in 1977 Zork would quickly become the epitome of text based adventures, pushing aside all competitors. A lot of this comes down to it's simple gameplay, and the simple fact that Zork is fun to play. But lurking deeper into the game is a hidden treasure. Ya see, the other huge part of Zork's success was it's portability. That was made possible thanks to some sick programming tricks, and a virtual computer called the Z-machine.

08 - A Digital Trip Down Memory Lane

In this episode, Andrew talks with his old friend Peter from Medallion Comics about the anime that made him the watcher he is today and inspired his writings. They talk about Digimon, Yugioh, Dragonball, pokemon and a whole host of other anime. They also take a reminisce about how they met and tell a few fun stories from their college anime club days. Though before all that, they gab about some games that were shown at E3, including Kingdom Hearts and Smash Bros Ultimate.
