    About this Episode

Part 2 of my interview with Jaime (8-Minute Abs) is as good as the first.

Jaime was selling millions of products before many of us were either born or were in business. We can learn a ton from him.

Be sure to listen to Part 1 as well. Here are the notes from the first one:

If you were around in the 90s, you most definitely remember the 8-Minute Abs exercise video.

It was so popular, there’s a famous scene with Ben Stiller from Something About Mary about it.

While the movie joked about it, 1.8 million people purchased it.

The star, Jaime Brenkus joins me on the podcast for a 2-part show.

Amongst other gems, Jaime shares a specific formula any fit pro can use to create results and generate sales.

    Jaime shares:

    • What he would have done differently if he could do it all over
    • The pros and cons of partnerships
    • How to know when to take a risk
    • The BEST way to create a niche program
    • How to develop the enthusiasm and belief you need to reach your potential

A Simple Formula for Determining Your Rate

#212: Stephen Covey said to begin with the end in mind.

I can’t think of a better place to do that than with pricing.

It’s always sad to see fitness business owners with broken models to the point that even if they filled up their schedules, they wouldn’t be bringing home what they need.

For that reason, I decided to break down some simple strategies to help you avoid the pitfalls of poor pricing.

    “Poor pricing produces poor profits.”

    -Billy Hofacker

    Here’s what you’ll learn:

    • What is the “common” rate in your area?

    • What are you worth?

    • Your desired rate

    • Justifying your rate

What to Focus on at Each Stage of Income

What to Focus on at Each Stage of Income

Some people think that you can’t start building wealth until you have a big income.

I’d argue that it starts much sooner than that.

As Stephen Covey says, “Start with the end in mind.”

Contrary to popular belief, there are plenty of things to do in order to improve your money situation regardless of your current income.

In fact, in this episode, I break down an exact strategy of what you can do whether you’re making:

    • 30K or less

    • 50K

    • 100K or more

Simply do or improve the suggested steps and watch your money grow (over time).

#207: Josh Leve oversees the FBA Succeed Conference, the largest virtual fitness business conference in the world.

Josh has fitness industry event planning in his blood as his father and grandfather were both highly involved with IHRSA.

It was a great conversation as we discussed how trainers ranging from newly certified to seasoned pros earning a healthy 6-figure income can benefit from virtual education.

Josh offered some tremendous insight but my personal favorite is a lesson he shared towards the end. Be sure to listen to this show in its entirety.

The Struggle to Success -An interview with Michael Benso

The Struggle to Success -An interview with Michael Benso

#206: Michael is a fitness industry veteran and the Co-founder of Buzops, a software to help gyms automate tasks and enhance member experience.

One of the things I most appreciated about this episode is this. Most people like to talk about their successes and how “great” things are. Here, we do the opposite. While life certainly is good, it’s not always great.

Michael and I discuss the following topics:

    • How getting distracted after finding success resulted in a lack of growth - He shares an example of how a colleague who didn’t get distracted achieved some wild success
    • Hiring too fast - Many things done too fast in business can have negative consequences. Hiring is one of them. Here Michael’s take on getting the wrong players on board

    • A quarter million dollar mistake - Towards the end of the show, Michael shares a story of how negligence on the legal/accounting side resulted in a 250K mistake!

Is There a “More Leads” Button? An Interview with Kyle Henning

Is There a “More Leads” Button? An Interview with Kyle Henning

#205: Kyle Henning, Managing Partner of Keep Booked and I had one of my favorite conversations in over 200 episodes.

If you listen you will see why.

Many (most) successful people don’t really share who they are.

We look at their “perfect” life and business and can’t relate. Ours is so messy.

Kyle is a rare gem because he’s the opposite.

In the opening of the show, he shares a life changing injury that happened when he was just 18.

Did that stop him? Heck no. Was it always roses and easy to keep a positive mindset? Heck no.

This part of the conversation alone is more than worth your time but there’s much more.

We proceed to discuss some free (you read that right) that will dramatically improve your business with some time and consistency.

The end of the conversation is pure gold as well when I ask about the effectiveness of ads.

Keep Booked is not your typical agency. Listen and find out why.

    You’ll be better for it!

    Financial Mistakes

    Financial Mistakes

#204: Much of success in business and life can be traced back to the little things that were done or not done over time.

For example, going a little over budget for one month isn’t that big of a deal in the short term. However, going over every month can lead to ruin.

Buying some new equipment for your gym isn’t necessarily wrong in and of itself but constantly trying to impress people can lead to burnout, unhappiness, and business failure.

I was fortunate enough to be asked to write an article for PFP magazine about where fit pros can underspend as well as overspend.

Spending properly can be a bit of an art but over time you can gain confidence over where your dollars are going.

In this episode, Tim Lyons joins me to discuss the article. We go through it and dive a bit deeper on some of the points.

Working Genius Part 2 with Tim Lyons

Working Genius Part 2 with Tim Lyons

#203: Today is Part 2 of Tim Lyons and I explaining Pat Lencioni’s Working Genius model.

Tim is certified and passionate in this model created by Lencioni and worked with him at The Table Group.

Here is a brief overview of Working Genius:

Everyone has natural, God-given talents when it comes to work. As it turns out, there are six different types of talents, or geniuses, and each of them is required for accomplishing any kind of endeavor.

Each of us have two that are considered our true gifts. Two are considered frustrations and the other two are just meh.

Knowing where you are strong and where there are gaps, both as an individual and as part of a team, can be helpful in taking things to the next level.

Listen in as Tim and I discuss specific examples of results and pairings.

We talk about how to use the information to maximize your career and success.
