    • Overcoming major setbacks through small progress and daily habitsConsistent progress and daily habits can lead to significant accomplishments, even after facing major setbacks. Embrace this mindset for productivity, health, and sports performance.

Small, consistent progress and daily habits can lead to significant accomplishments, even after facing major setbacks. The speaker's experience of recovering from a serious injury and becoming an academic all-American demonstrates the importance of making progress in small increments and embracing daily habits. This mindset can be applied to various aspects of life, including productivity, health, and sports performance. The speaker's background in biomechanics and self-employment led him to explore applied psychology and bridge the gap between theory and practical application. Without a traditional boss, he taught himself various skills and became interested in consumer psychology and behavior change, which eventually led him to specialize in behavioral psychology.

    • The Power of Consistency and FocusConsistently focusing on the process, rather than the goal, can lead to success. James Clear's journey from graduate student to full-time writer demonstrates the importance of staying committed and putting ideas into practice, even when faced with self-doubt and fear of failure.

Focusing on the process rather than the goal and being consistent in your efforts can lead to success, as demonstrated by James Clear's journey from graduate student to full-time writer. Clear's experience shows that having an opinion is easy, but being a practitioner and putting ideas into practice is much more challenging. He tried various business ideas before finding success with jamesclear.com, but he stayed focused and consistent in his writing, even when faced with self-doubt and fear of failure. By publishing regularly and focusing on the process, he was able to build a following and turn his writing into a full-time career. Additionally, Clear's writing resonates with readers because he practices what he preaches and openly shares his struggles and successes. Overall, Clear's story highlights the importance of staying focused, being consistent, and putting in the effort to turn your ideas into reality.

    • Practicing integrity and self-reflection for personal growthRegularly assess personal values, put them into practice, create an integrity report, quantify goals, and measure progress for continuous improvement and fulfillment.

Practicing integrity and self-reflection are essential for personal growth and living a fulfilling life. The speaker emphasizes the importance of putting values into practice, not just paying lip service to them. He shares his experience of creating an integrity report as a way to stay accountable and make important issues more prominent. Additionally, the speaker highlights the power of quantifying goals and progress, drawing an analogy to speed signs that provide instant feedback and encourage adjustments. By constantly reflecting on goals and measuring progress, individuals can stay motivated and make meaningful improvements in their lives.

    • Measuring and tracking progress can lead to small improvementsMeasuring and tracking progress in areas that matter can lead to small yet significant improvements in motivation, engagement, and consistency. Building new habits takes time and consistent effort.

Measuring and quantifying important aspects of our lives can provide small yet significant improvements in motivation, engagement, and consistency. It doesn't have to be a major overhaul, but tracking progress in areas that matter to us can make a difference. This practice is simple and requires minimal effort, but it can help you better understand your habits and patterns. Research shows that building new habits can take anywhere from 18 days to over 250 days, depending on the difficulty and situational factors. It's important to view habit formation as a continuous process rather than a finish line. Once a habit is established, it's crucial to keep practicing it consistently to reap the benefits. Personal experiences, like being part of a high-performing weightlifting team, can provide valuable insights into the importance of consistency and teamwork. By embracing the process of measuring and tracking progress, we can unlock small yet meaningful improvements in various areas of our lives. In summary, quantifying and measuring aspects of our lives can lead to small yet significant improvements, and building new habits takes time and consistent effort. Embrace the process, and you'll be on your way to making meaningful progress.

    • Focus on identity for long-term successBy focusing on building the identity of the person we want to become, we increase our chances of achieving our goals and maintaining desired habits.

Instead of viewing habit formation or goal achievement as a one-time event or a race to a finish line, it's essential to see it as an ongoing process that requires building a new identity. According to the speaker, focusing on the identity aspect is crucial for long-term success. He uses the analogy of an onion to explain this concept, with the outermost layer being the results or performance, the next layer being our actions, and the deepest layer being our identity or beliefs. To illustrate this, he gives the example of weight loss, where the goal is to lose 30 pounds in 4 months, and the action is to work out four times a week. Instead of focusing solely on the goal and the action, we should consider who the type of person is that could achieve that goal – someone who doesn't miss workouts. By focusing on building that identity, the actions and results will naturally follow. This concept complements the research on the importance of falling in love with a future image of yourself, which is a powerful predictor of academic and personal success. In summary, the key takeaway is that by focusing on building the identity of the person we want to become, we can increase our chances of achieving our goals and maintaining the desired habits.

    • Building confidence and identity through small stepsFocus on taking small consistent steps towards goals to build confidence and identity, creating a feedback loop for long-term growth

Building confidence and identity go hand in hand. Confidence is not just a belief in oneself, but also the result of displaying ability. To build confidence and identity, it's essential to take small incremental steps towards achieving goals. These small steps provide proof of ability and create a feedback loop that reinforces confidence and identity. This approach can be applied to various goals and activities, including dating, finance, and personal development. While goals are important for setting direction, focusing too much on them can limit long-term growth. Instead, it's crucial to focus on building systems and consistency that support the identity we want to achieve. By taking small steps consistently, we can build the confidence and identity necessary to reach our goals.

    • Focus on systems for consistent progressImplementing daily practices and processes (systems) is more effective for building habits and achieving goals than relying solely on motivation

While goals provide direction, systems are the key to making consistent progress. Systems are the practices and processes we commit to each day, like an Alabama football team's practice routine or a writer's writing process. Contrary to popular belief, motivation, which can be fickle, doesn't drive long-term behavior change. Instead, implementation intentions or commitment devices, such as setting specific actions and designing an environment to support good habits, are more effective in building the habits we want. For instance, the study on exercise showed that having a clear implementation intention led to triple the workout rate compared to just being motivated. So, focus on establishing systems and designing supportive environments to achieve your goals, rather than solely relying on motivation.

    • Designing habits through environmentMaking good habits automatic and bad habits difficult is more effective than relying on motivation. Cultural influences and focusing on essential responsibilities also play a role in habit formation.

Making good habits easier and bad habits harder is more effective than relying solely on motivation and willpower. By structuring the environment around us, we can design habits that align with our goals. For instance, setting up automatic savings plans makes saving easier, while putting yourself on a banned list at a casino makes giving in to gambling harder. Additionally, cultural influences can impact our determination and focus. In Finland, the concept of sisu encourages extreme determination, while in American culture, talent is often prioritized over determination. Lastly, it's essential to eliminate inessential things from our lives and focus on the optimal amount of responsibilities, rather than trying to be a tree that grows wider and taller by adding more branches. Instead, we should be like rose bushes, pruning away the unnecessary to thrive.

    • Balance intentional focus and new experiencesTo live a well-rounded life, focus on intentional habits but also leave room for happiness, serendipity, and personal growth through experiences, travel, and social connections.

In order to fully flourish in various areas of our lives, we must make intentional choices about what to focus on and what to let go of. This concept can be applied to habit formation, where the value gained from a behavior may depend on whether it's in the beginning or mastery stage. However, it's essential not to overlook the importance of happiness, serendipity, and personal growth outside of habit formation. These elements can be fostered through experiences, travel, and social connections. In essence, a well-rounded life involves a balance of intentional focus and openness to new experiences.

    • Find joy in the simple things and connect with othersLiving a fulfilling life goes beyond achieving goals, enjoy present moments, hobbies, social connections contribute to overall happiness, not everything needs a business result to be valuable.

Living a fulfilling life goes beyond achieving goals and focuses on enjoying the present moment. The speaker mentioned their hobbies, such as weightlifting and photography, and spending time with friends and family, which aren't directly related to quantifiable goals but contribute significantly to their social well-being and overall happiness. It's essential to recognize that not everything in life needs to be measured or have a business result to be valuable. It's crucial to find joy in the simple things and connect with others. This perspective can lead to a more balanced and satisfying life. Additionally, various businesses and organizations are focusing on improving people's lives in various ways, such as health care, mental health services, and virtual care, which can contribute to a healthier and happier society.

Leaving the self-doubt at the door comes with having the right mindset. Today, either practice what you've learned or learn what you need to practice. Create your now!

In all honesty, we know what we need to do. But most of us find it easier to hang out with what we know is comfortable.

Just like today. It's Monday! And were you one of the millions who already decided that it was going to be a crappy day?

Well, how has it been so far? Be honest.

Maybe it hasn't lived up to your expectation of failure that you knew would happen. So why not live with a positive influence over yourself and lead with the right mindset?

Today (and every day) can be a great day even when life happens. It's your attitude and thoughts that create your now.

So it's time to take charge and tell 'em who is B.O.S.S.!

The K.I.S.S. ~ Tell 'em who is B.O.S.S.!

You can control your thoughts. But as you know, that takes work. So instead of focusing on how many bad thoughts you have in a day, take control and tell 'em who is B.O.S.S.!

    1. BLOOM where you're planted. - Stop making excuses for what you can or will not do. You get to choose the who, what, why, where, and how of your life.
    2. OPTIMIZE your opportunities.  - Don't take life for granted. Life happens. So look at what you have and work with it. Build relationships and pour into others.
    3. SHAPE your day. - Plan and prepare your day so you can achieve as much as you desire in your day.
    4. SOAR with grace. - Don't quack like a duck, soar like an eagle. Stop the complaining and start believing. You can fly above the storms or get drenched from down below. Beautiful flowers come from hard rains.

I get how your days can become entangled with thoughts that strangle you. But don't let those get the best of who you are becoming.

You are made for more every day! Make a splash in every way!

Turn on the abundance mindset. Greatness is upon you.

CHALLENGE: Are you ready to be the B.O.S.S.?

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

Have you ever started something, but felt like you needed permission? There are many choices in life, and how you choose to move on with your goals and dreams matters. Be free to thrive!  This is a special day. It's March Madness Mindset Monday!! Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co Are you a basketball fan? Well, I can't say I watch a lot of basketball, except when it comes to March Madness. The tournament has its way of raising the bar. It amazes me every time how underdogs can come out on top. Where do they find that extra something special? You and I both know where that comes from; deep down, taking it to the next level. But, like with any game, there is a plan of execution. You get to plan your practice to prepare for your performance. So how do you show up to your game? Are you complaining that you have more work to do? Are you wondering if you can get done what's on your to-do list? Or are you secretly wanting nothing to happen so you can chill out? The K.I.S.S. ~ Be free to thrive! Sounds super easy -- But keeping up with everyone else is tough. However, I'm here to remind you that you don't need permission to do what God has called you to do.  You need to ready yourself today and be present with what God has placed before you to accomplish. As I watch some of these college basketball teams throw down their best stuff, I wonder what it would be like if they all settled for mediocrity. I don't think March Madness would exist. There would be no chance for anyone to stand out differently because it was okay to be okay. But that's the awesomeness of March Madness. It's a level playing field. Did you know there are 11 conferences represented in the Sweet Sixteen? What a spread of talent across all the colleges.  This is a reminder that not one team is perfect. Every team has a shot at winning the championship. And so do you! You don't have to do everything right all the time. But you do have to take A.I.M. -- action ignites motivation. Be free to thrive! So much of our days are spent pondering what we should have or could have done. But what does it matter if we aren't willing to do what's next? At some point, you have to realize how your thoughts can counteract your actions. And believe it or not, your mind just follows.  Why? Because it's easy! The brain doesn't want complications. So keep it simple to the habits you know. WoW!!! If you want to keep moving forward, you've gotta play with a little madness, just like in basketball.
    • You gotta dig deeper; find the next level to rise up to.
    • You gotta ready your head and heart to do what you don't feel like doing.
    • You gotta play the game every day; flex that consistency muscle.
And most importantly, you gotta believe and trust. "For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future." ~ Jeremiah 29:11 Are you ready to go above and beyond your feelings? It's time to be free to thrive! PRAYER: May you delight in the presence of what God has placed before you. Don't let the sun go down on the God-size dreams He has for you. 2628 Where Comfort Leads You
Are you staying where you’re at because you like it simply because you know it? Hanging on to only what you know shrinks your possibilities. Go beyond where comfort leads you. Seriously! Where are you at now? Are you sitting on a couch enjoying March madness from the comfort of your own habits? Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT You have your shot to make madness this month, not because of a basketball bracket. (Because you know the upsets that have already occurred. North Carolina taking out #1 Baylor Bears in overtime.) But truly because you are talented and gifted. The problem is your habit couch. You want to stay where you know. Those throw pillows are ever so comfortable. And you don't have to throw them far when they get in the way. Plus, you can't forget the soft, crushed velveteen blanket. Oh, how it feels so smooth on your chin as you snuggle in for an unexpected nap. However, if you're honest, what you know seems more fun.
    • You don't have to overwork your mind.
    • You don't have to change your schedule.
    • You don't have to quit what you are already doing.
    • You already know what's expected, so not many surprises.
    • You know what you know, so why fret or worry.
Then why do you keep longing for something more or different, at least with a different pattern than the habit couch you're sitting on? Maybe you should consider looking at where comfort leads you. Are you stuck in a rut on the habit couch? Are you staying clear of what feels weird or makes you scratch your head? But if you are feeling a nudge deeper than the overarching fear that consumes you, go beyond where comfort leads you and look for a new comfort level.  The K.I.S.S. ~ Go beyond and look for a new comfort level! Boundaries are good, but they can hold you back.  With measurements that stay the same, your results will more consistent, good or bad.  So don't allow yourself to get trapped in your knowledge, but more so in your actions. Go beyond where comfort leads.
    1. GO HIGH - Be careful of keeping your dreams too attainable. Push yourself to reach the stars. It's a journey of a lifetime.
    2. GO LOW - Don't take for granted your talents and gifts. Be willing to incorporate those with what you don't know.
    3. GO, GO, GO  - Turn up the horsepower. It's time to rev those engines and get movin'!
CHALLENGE: Where do you start? From right where you sit! The habit couch can be transformed. But you must willing to commit to make a change to take a chance on who to believe in...YOU!!!
