She encourages listeners to actively seek out their purpose, suggesting that we may already have clues if we pay close attention to our interests and experiences. For instance, Dr. McGarry knew she was destined to be a doctor from a young age. She emphasizes that even if we feel stuck in a job without purpose, we should consider what purpose we're seeking and reflect on our past experiences. • Discovering and living out your purposeIdentify what brings joy, consider where you can make a difference, and focus on positive aspects for a fulfilling life.

Discovering and living out your purpose is essential for a fulfilling life. Children often express their purpose in subtle ways, and it's up to us to listen and understand. We all have a unique reason for waking up each day, and it goes beyond material possessions. To identify your purpose, consider what brings you joy, what makes you want to dance or sing, and where you can make a difference in the world. Life needs movement, and our inner core must guide it. For those feeling stuck, it's essential to shift perspective and focus on the positive aspects of our lives, even if they seem mundane or tedious. By getting our perspective right, we can find meaning and fulfillment in our daily lives.

    • Finding purpose and meaning in every stage of lifeRecognize and appreciate the present moment and the role we play in it, even at any age, as there is always more to be done and discovered.

No matter what stage of life we're in or what job we have, we can find purpose and meaning in it. Even if our work is simply providing for our family or putting a roof over our heads, it can be a source of fulfillment. As Gladys shared, even at the age of 102, she still has a 10-year plan and a strong sense of purpose. It's important to recognize and appreciate the present moment and the role we play in it, as there is always more to be done and discovered. The negative narrative around aging and losing focus or abilities is not necessary, and it's inspiring to see individuals who continue to be curious and look forward to the future.

    • The importance of having a moving target for personal growthHaving a long-term goal keeps us motivated and moving forward, but it's the journey and experiences along the way that truly shape us. Living in the moment and being present also contributes to our growth and overall well-being.

Having a moving target, such as a 10-year plan, is essential for personal growth and progress in life. It's not about reaching a specific goal within a fixed timeframe but rather keeping oneself motivated and moving forward. The journey itself, with its ups and downs, is what shapes us. As the speaker mentioned, even if we don't reach our goals, the attempts we make contribute to our growth. Additionally, living in the moment and being present is crucial for our health, happiness, and overall well-being. It's essential to appreciate the significance of our interactions and experiences in the present, as they are what truly matter. Despite the challenges of staying present, it's a skill worth cultivating for a more fulfilling life.

    • Finding solace in the present moment during difficult timesFocusing on the present moment and practicing gratitude can help us turn things around during difficult times and find hope and light.

When faced with difficult situations or feelings of being stuck, it's essential to find ways to be present and appreciate the current moment. This can be easier said than done, especially during times of great pain or loss. The story shared highlights the experience of someone who went through a devastating divorce and felt utterly lost. However, she found solace in reminding herself that every day is a gift, no matter how difficult it may seem. By focusing on the present moment and practicing gratitude, she was able to turn things around and find the light in her darkest hour. It's essential to remember that we're all in this together, and everyone experiences hardships. When we're in the midst of our struggles, it can be helpful to remember that there's always a way forward, and the message of hope and light is always within reach.

    • Start the healing process with self-love and what we loveFocus on self-love and what we love to heal and live a fulfilling life, sharing love with others creates a positive impact.

Love is a powerful force for healing and living a fulfilling life. Dr. Gladys McGarey, with over 8 decades of clinical experience, emphasizes the importance of self-love and focusing on what we love in our lives to start the healing process. She believes that true healing comes from love and cites examples like a mother's kiss to her child's boo-boo. In a time where many people are struggling with their mental, physical, and emotional well-being, Dr. McGarey advises starting with loving oneself and sharing that love with others. By focusing on what we love and continuing to share it with others, we can create a positive impact on ourselves and those around us. So, take a moment to reflect on what you love and share it with the world. Sign up for Dr. Chatterjee's Friday 5 email for a weekly dose of positivity and join him for more inspiring conversations.

Did you know that chronic pain affects 1 in 5 people globally and is the leading cause of disability? Whether it's persistent back pain, recurring neck issues, stubborn knee problems, or debilitating migraines, chronic pain can be both physically exhausting and emotionally draining. But, as this week’s fantastic guest will explain, there is so much more that we could be doing.   Professor Peter O'Sullivan is a Specialist Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist and a John Curtin Distinguished Professor at the School of Allied Health Sciences at Curtin University. Together, they have published more than 345 scientific papers, written numerous book chapters, and Peter has been the keynote speaker at over 120 international conferences.  In this episode, Peter explains why changing the story around pain is one of the most important things we need to address, if we want to effectively tackle it. We delve into the 10 myths of lower back pain and challenge common beliefs about posture, core strength, and the necessity of scans. Peter also explains why many popular strategies for avoiding back pain might actually make things worse. We discuss the vital role of healthcare professionals in chronic pain management, including the need for a multidimensional approach that combines physical therapy with psychological understanding. Building trust, listening to patient stories, and fostering hope is crucial in order to make people active participants in their own recovery journey. Peter is knowledgeable, passionate and someone who deeply cares about helping people break free from chronic pain. I truly believe this episode has the potential to change lives. #466 Break Free from Burnout: How to Accomplish More by Doing Less with Cal Newport

#466 Break Free from Burnout: How to Accomplish More by Doing Less with Cal Newport

In today's fast-paced world, the pursuit of productivity often leads to overwhelm. In fact, one report suggests that 88% of UK workers have experienced some degree of burnout over the past two years. But what if there’s a better way to work and live?

This week, I’m delighted to welcome Cal Newport back to my Feel Better Live More podcast. Cal is a professor of computer science at Georgetown University and a founding member of the Center for Digital Ethics. He’s a New York Times bestselling author whose books have reached millions of readers in over forty languages. His latest book, Slow Productivity: The Lost Art of Accomplishment Without Burnout, challenges our current notions of work and offers a revolutionary approach to productivity.

In our conversation, Cal and I explore the concept of "slow productivity" and how it contrasts with our culture of constant busyness. We discuss why traditional productivity methods are falling short, particularly in the realm of 'knowledge work' - a term Cal uses to describe intellectually demanding professions - and how modern digital tools have exacerbated the problem of burnout.

During the conversation, he shares the three core principles of slow productivity: doing fewer things, working at a natural pace, and obsessing over quality. We delve into practical strategies for implementing these principles in various work environments, even for those who feel they have little autonomy in their jobs.

We also touch on the importance of solitude and reflection in living an intentional life. Cal emphasises how smartphones and social media have impacted our ability to be present and socialise, particularly for younger generations, and he offers insights on setting boundaries with technology and creating healthier norms around its use, too.

Our conversation also extends to the value of lifestyle-centric planning versus goal-centric planning, challenging cultural norms around constant connectivity and redefining success beyond professional achievements.

This episode is packed with actionable advice that can help you reclaim your time, reduce stress, and find a more balanced approach to work and life.

Just because you "feel" crabby and that's grabbing your attention the most, so you can get the attention; it doesn't mean you ARE crabby. All it means is that it's screaming the loudest so you don't have to work at how you want to "feel". When you rise, you set the tone for the rest of your day. Put yourself in a mindset that is open to positivity and possibility. That in itself can have a huge impact on how you interact with the world and how you impact the world you touch.

Think about it: if you wake up feeling grumpy and negative, you're more likely to snap at your coworkers or family members, to rush through your tasks without really engaging with them, and to make decisions that might not be in your best interest. But if you wake up feeling joyful and centered, you're more likely to greet the people around you with kindness and compassion, to approach your work with focus and creativity, and to make choices that align with your values. And remember, joy is not dependent on your circumstances, situations, or season of life. Joy does not come from what is thrown at you. Joy comes from whose you are.

Choosing to wake up with Joy and in joy is more than just choosing a specific alarm clock. It's choosing to take control of your day, to set your intentions, and to create a positive ripple effect that can touch everyone around you. So the question is, how will you choose to rise?

When you choose joy, you can wake up to a world of possibility, potential, and progress. Take that first step towards living your life on purpose for your greater calling. 1927 Get Back to Normal

    1927 Get Back to Normal

"I can't wait to get back to normal!", a plea heard from many. But just a few months back, you were complaining of where you were. And now, you want to get back to normal?

What is normal? You want normal back. Who are you?

Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACThttp://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT

Normal is the usual, average, or typical state or condition.

Normal is just what you know. There is nothing extravagant about it. But it's tantalizing and sensational because you know it, love it; you're comforted by it.

What if you were never supposed to feel normal?

What if normal is really change? Your change.

Normal is not what you should know. It's who you are becoming!

Change is a constant. So if change is always happening, why are we so uncomfortable with not being normal?

But what happens when there is uncertainty or you're scared? There's this unknown factor that is very unsettling to what you know; the so-called "normal".

When you are afraid, you reach for what is comfortable; what is NORMAL!

Normal is habits! But you don't have to live normal. Yet all you do is crave it, because you know it.

"When you feel fear, you reach for familiar." by Pastor Steven Furtick (Elevation Church)

Has "never enough" become our normal? The busyness of our lives is what it is because that's what we know. We want so much now, immediately. That immediate gratification. It's this self-centered familiarity; it's comfort.

Normal is a story you keep telling yourself.

And that story you keep telling yourself continues to aid what you know. Therefore, you see only what you know. Yet, what you are to become, you're blind to.

There is no peace or comfort without being engulfed in what you know; the "normal". Even though that normal is what you were complaining about just a few months ago.

What if you getting back to normal has nothing to do with comfort?

What if it's knowing that you are created for more? That your normal is change. That you are to look forward to get back to normal.

    The K.I.S.S. ~ Look forward!

Are you trying to hold onto what you should let go of?

Maybe you're holding onto it because....

    • It brought you comfort even though it could have been harming you in some form or fashion.
    • It took the uncertainty out of a situation and made you feel a little better even though you didn't like it.

Life does not have to be about what you know, but about who you are becoming; who you are created to be.

QUESTION:  What were your priorities prior to COVID-19?  And currently, where are your priorities in your life?

Are you willing to let God part the red sea to make room for what you're supposed to see?

You need to slow down to speed up. God is not wanting you to do more with what you know, but to use what you know to change the world!

Because we have been blinded by all the stuff we think we should be doing or what the world says we should do.

"Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will." ~ Romans 12:2

Don't try and fit yourself in a box like the world has you in! You are not meant to be squeezed, at least not that way. What seems like comfort is actually uncomfortable. You are meant to rise higher than where you sit. But you must be willing to renew your mind and understand that normal is not normal. It's what you knew.

What is normal in the real world is actually broken in how God sees you, how God desires you to become.

You are uniquely and wonderfully made. There is no one like you. So why are you trying to live like everybody else?

Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!

Look forward by being a living legacy!

Why should you die in order to make a difference? Your difference is here today!

    Be present.

You may not understand why things are the way they are, but that doesn't give you an excuse to beat yourself up and stay where you are comfortable. You're created to be extraordinary.

    Be incredible.

You were created in the image of God, fearfully and wonderfully made. So slam the doors on comparison.

    Be YOU!!!

What has kept you chained and buried? Where have you become entitled, what you expect? Are your expectations holding you back?

    • depression
    • addiction
    • anger
    • comparison

You can set a new baseline as to how you live your life.

Romans 12:1 ..... Therefore, I urge you, brothers and sisters, in view of God's mercy, to offer your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God -- this is your true and proper worship.

Look forward by being a living legacy! (Romans 12:1)

So over these next few weeks, as you ponder your new normal, what does it really mean in your head and your heart?

How do you begin to create your now?

"One step at a time to lead to miles of greatness!"

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

3032 Joy is a Great Alarm Clock

3032 Joy is a Great Alarm Clock

Why is waking up on the wrong side of the bed so common? Your attitude is a determining factor in how you approach your day. So flip the switch. Joy is a great alarm clock.

You know this common expression all too well. You know it describes the feeling of starting your day off on the wrong foot.

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co

Maybe you're feeling angry or groggy, and that negative energy carries through to the rest of your day. But what if you could choose how you rise each morning? What if you could start your day with a sense of joy and positivity?

Joy is a great alarm clock.

It can help you start your day off on the right foot. With its gentle wake-up sounds and customizable settings, Joy can help you wake up feeling refreshed and energized every morning.

But it's not just about the mechanics of the alarm clock. It's about what it represents: the power of intention.

How are you choosing to rise for your day?

The K.I.S.S. ~ Choose your attitude wisely!

Because your attitude impacts absolutely EVERYTHING!!

Our daughter had her white coat ceremony this past weekend. What a celebration! The family was all in town, including our grandson.

On Sunday, we decided to go to the town square for the annual fair. When we returned home after about 3 hours, he was ready for a nap. So down he went. 3 hours later, he woke up. Mom when to go get him, and all I could hear was his fussing.

How could he be so fussy after having such a great nap? So, of course, Grandma went up there to check on all the commotion.

Mom spelled to me how he got up on the wrong side of the bed. No matter what she said, he was crabby.

After our incognito spelling bee, I asked him how if he slept well. And he proudly responded with a smile, "Yes, slept well."

From that point on, it was a changed little boy. He was happy and ready to go do anything and everything with a smile.

Now, you and I both know he was challenging his mom. But Grandma comes into the picture, and life isn't so bad. So he chose to be happy instead of crabby.

Joy is a great alarm clock.

When you choose to wake up with Joy, you're making a conscious decision to start your day with joy.

"One step at a time leads to miles of greatness." ~ Kristianne Wargo

PRAYER: May joy become the alarm clock that awakens the refreshment and rejuvenation within you. Take time to control your morning and start living your best life.

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

    1903 Trial By Fire

    1903 Trial By Fire

No one likes trial by fire. But as parents, we are always challenged and stretched. Imagine how flexible that makes you!

It's times like these, when you are overwhelmed, uncertain, exhausted, and anxious about tomorrow, where you appreciate the lighter and brighter days.

Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACThttp://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT

You may not have any idea of what's to come, but what you do know, is your children will always be ready to disrupt and disturb you.

I can remember when life was so simple. No interruptions and very few last-minute trips to the store for the school project. Only the husband had me run out for some crazy reason.

Since having children, this is normal. In fact, if you didn't have the interruptions and last-minute trips to the store for supplies, you would wonder what was happening.

A lot of what we do as parents are ever-changing; trial by fire.

We attempt to understand our roles, what is expected of us, all the while remaining organized and calm.

    But that is not reality!

What are you to do when nothing seems to be going the way you dreamed?

The K.I.S.S. ~ Change your normal!

Do what you know with a twist of what is not normal. In other words, you have to go with the flow and be willing to extinguish all fires.

    1. Be flexible.
    2. Work in your strengths.
    3. Ask for help when needed.

Change your normal. Because in reality, the only normal you have as a parent is change!

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

    3164 Show Me The Way
Let the morning bring me word of your unfailing love, for I have put my trust in you. Show me the way I should go, for to you I entrust my life. ~ Psalm 143:8 In the midst of life's storms, we can often find ourselves feeling lost, searching for guidance and reassurance. Join us at Women of IMPACT. https://createyournow.mn.co  Even David, a man after God's own heart, sought daily affirmation of God's love and direction. Like him, you too can turn to your Heavenly Father, seeking His divine path in moments of doubt and uncertainty. So, as you embark on this journey, remember the powerful prayer and cry out, "God, show me the way." This plea is not a passive request, but an active declaration of your dependence on God. It signifies your willingness to act, to make decisions, and to move forward in the direction that He points to. Just as David found comfort and strength in perceiving God's love as the morning light that breaks through the darkest night, you too desire to experience His love at the start of each day. In looking at Psalm 143:8, let the words resonate deeply within your soul, reminding you of the need for God's constant love and guidance. By seeking God's love in the morning, you embody His presence, regardless of the challenges you may face. Imagine God's love as a guiding force, a compass pointing you in the right direction. With His love as your True North, you can navigate the uncertainties of life with confidence and peace. Whether you are struggling with personal setbacks, facing difficult decisions, or feeling overwhelmed by the weight of the world, God's love is ever-present, ready to illuminate the path before you. The K.I.S.S. ~ Show me the way! When you acknowledge your dependence on God and actively seek His guidance, you open yourself up to what God has in store for you.  His love is not merely a source of comfort but a catalyst for growth, transformation, and purpose. God has placed a call on your life. As you submit yourself to His will, you'll discover that His plans for you are far greater than anything we could ever imagine. In times of darkness, doubt, or pain, hold fast to David's prayer and make it your own. Just as he trusted in God's unfailing love, so too can you embrace HIs divine gift of love and grace as you follow His lead.  Start each day by whispering, "Lord, show me the way." Let His love be the beacon that guides you, the compass that steers you, and the pillar of strength that sustains you. In this surrender, you find freedom, purpose, and an unbreakable connection with your risen Lord and Savior. Embrace His love, for it is the key that unlocks the doors of your heart and leads you on the journey He has planned for you. "Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"   #SweetSpirit #CreateYourNow #SoulfulSunday 🔔 Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women?
