We watched a wrestler thing! That means Chris from the bad wrestling podcast (currently on hiatus) had to join us. This one has Rob Van Dam, Dave Bautista, Ja Rule, Omarion and a whole gang of loose beef.
Tom Waits plays Renfield and Gary Oldman plays 'White Suga Free' in bonkers Dracula adaptation that somehow made sense as mainstream entertainment in the nineteen hundred and nineties. Plus Ant picked TWO bangers that sample Tom Waits. One of them by Master P! Can you imagine! What music he makes!
A scheduling snafu caused us to bring out a classic format. We cover every team in the league, with one exception. It's everything you'd expect from us doing a last minute NBA pod.
(Sorry 4 Tha Wait) We watched a documentary that made us question the nature of documentaries as an art form. Well, some of us did. Sean just loves this shit.
If you're looking for an earnest discussion about the Biggie and Tupac murder cases, there are probably other podcasts for you. If you're looking for a discussion about how sus documentaries are, especially in the hands of filmmakers with questionable ethics, then this one is for you!
This was a fun one, it was delayed while I (Ryan) dealt with a family issue. We'll resume regularly scheduled programming now.
We watched Penelope Spheeris' shelved (thanks SHARON)1999 documentary about Ozzfest '99. Is it officially part of her 'Decline of Western Civilization' documentary series? We think so. It features Black Sabbath, Slipknot, Rob Zombie, System of a Down, Fear Factory, Deftones, Primus, Slayer and many more. We get to talk Spheeris' career, and of course do a deep dive into Nu Metal. It's long. You're welcome. Or...sorry.
We watched Cappadonna's re-dub of a 1971 HK Action Film called The Duel (aka Duel of The Iron Fist) also starring Shawn Wigs from Theodore Unit. It's unlike any other film we've covered, and somehow the quintessential BBO film. We also get to discuss Cappadonna, which is always a treat.
Watch it here!: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ihHQZsK_JwM&ab_channel=ChillmaticCinematic
CONTENT WARNING: This film explores SA in extreme detail. We discuss some of these themes in the episode.
We watched a French film! A Sci Fi one! Andre 3000 starred in Claire Denis' 2018 film HIGH LIFE alongside the gawd Robert Pattinson. There is an audio issue in the second part of the episode - the music part. The timing might be off by MILLISECONDS but it should be OK.
Check out and contribute to SFUltra, Sean's Sci Fi podcast.
This is Abe's fault! Abe Beame came through to watch the REMAKE of White Men Can't Jump with us. One guess as to how we reacted to a straight to streaming remake of a beloved film starring Louisville Kentucky's favorite white rapper...
Still fun to talk to Abe though and we play some awesome music from Mr. Short Khop and Teyana Taylor.
LONGEST EPISODE EVER. Michael Winterbottom's 2002 film 24 Hour Party People is a semi-fictionalized account of Factory Records in Manchester, covering the years 1976-1992. Joy Division, Happy Mondays, New Order, Durutti Column, A Certain Ratio, many many more get covered in an insanely entertaining film that the three of us have seen collectively about 50 times. We have a LOT to say. So we edited very little. Its chaotic, its long and its great. Enjoy.
