    About this Episode

Course creators this episode is for you. We live in a world where creating courses is SO DAMNED EASY am I right? I mean running a course or program is as simple as creating a landing page, having people buy the thing and then running a series of videos or delivering content like PDF’s, audios, workbooks and the like that teach someone something.

You can run a course as simply as setting up a Facebook Group or as complex as having a full digital course host platform like Kajabi or one of the big ones.

You can have a fully automated funnel or you can be as organic as you like with it

Either way creating online courses is a HUGE part of a lot of entrepreneurs' business plan. I mean my business is 100% running and facilitating online courses and group coaching programs.

But as always with great power comes great responsibility and while it’s so much easier than it used to be there are some legalities around course creation and delivery to protect you as the creator and also your students. Things like Intellectual property, payment plans, community guidelines if you are hosting an online community.

And the good thing is these things are NOT difficult to have set up either so that you, your students and any future people you are calling into your work have beautiful boundaries and structures to keep everyone on the same page and safe.

So today I am interviewing someone who I truly know to be an expert and leader in this, she is an incredible lady, business owner, mum, book author, lawyer, author and lady boss. She is also a member of my online membership and community The Social Collective, and that lady is Emma Heuston.

Emma heads up The Remote Expert, an Australian virtual law firm helping women with online courses and online businesses protect and grow their businesses. She does this by making the information and material accessible to her clients in a way that suits them.

Emma has lived the online business life and knows what it is like to not know where the next client is coming from. She understands that sick feeling in your stomach about whether you made the right move leaving that paid but boring secure job. And yes, she gets what it is like to feel small when people dismiss your “at home” business as a hobby you can fit in around caring for the kids and carrying the mental load at home.

In 2011, Emma was on the traditional lawyer corporate path with an office job in a boutique firm on the North Shore of Sydney. But a near death experience changed her views on work/ life balance and made her realise life is way too short not to do exactly as you please. Since then Emma has set about shaking things up in the work from home arena. In 2018, she wrote her work from home bible, The Tracksuit Economy: how to work productively and effectively from home and in early 2021, is proud to be a featured co-author in "Back Yourself", a collection of stories from business women edited by Peace Mitchell and Katy Garner.

#123 - Why I Am Not Buying Into The Fast Finish Mentality For Q4 AND What I Am Doing Instead

There is no denying that Q4 is a time when there are sales to be made, BUT unless you have a clear strategy as to WHY you are running a sale or a launch then it can often lead to poor execution.

It can be VERY easy to get distracted by the shiny lights of lucrative sales numbers, but the reality is for alot of social media managers and content creators, this may not be the right thing for your business.

In this episode, I share how I am approaching Q4 this year, not with a flash sale on a digital product JUST to have one I can sell, but doubling down on my profitable services.

And how you can do the same AND still generate leads and clients during the end of year period.

#119 - How I Increased My Stories Views To 83% Of My Audience

#119 - How I Increased My Stories Views To 83% Of My Audience

Stories can be a bit of a minefield for business owners, they only last for 24 hours so there is alot of fatigue around creating content for that part of the platform.

And there is alot of confusion around WHAT to share, mainly when you have already put so much effort into your feed content it's like 'What else do I share there?'.

In this episode, I share some insights from an experiment I have been running on my personal account that has resulted in views of 83% of my audience AND a significant increase in engagement.

I didn't post stories daily, but I did post them consistently and I wasn't on camera all the time either, these were really simple strategies that anyone can implement even if you are time poor and don't like showing your face every day.

#118 - Is solving a business problem with a mindset solution REALLY serving us?

#118 - Is solving a business problem with a mindset solution REALLY serving us?

In the current small business landscape, there is an intersection of where business, self-help and spirituality meet, and in this enmeshment of the three, it’s hard to differentiate each one.

To the point that we are trying to solve the wrong problems with the wrong solutions.

I believe that untangling them and working each part of the small business Venn diagram is important BUT you cannot replace one with the other.

We need to work on our business strategy AND our mindset at the same time, in conjunction with, in parallel to each other.

So we can show up as the best version of ourselves in our business while also applying business acumen to our actual business.

And if anything you have heard resonates with you and you want to talk more come and chat with my on Instagram, I would love to know what stood out to you.

#117 - On having an identity crisis in your business, breaking up with being a coach, pivoting and all that’s in between

It's been a red hot minute [almost 12 months to be exact] since I released an episode of the pod.

So this ep is filling you in on what the heck happened in my business identity crisis of 2022, why and how I pivoted my business to create more success than I have had to date and what that means.

DISCLAIMER: I talk about market trends in this episode that are relevant to my industry, I share them to express to you how to critically assess your own business in terms of market trends, not as a rule of what anyone 'should' be doing.

And if anything you have heard resonates with you and you want to talk more come and chat with my on Instagram, I would love to know what stood out to you.

#116 - Honouring The Midlife Pause with Katya D'antini

#116 - Honouring The Midlife Pause with Katya D'antini
Since I turned 40 I have noticed a HUGE shift in my energy, and not just my physical energy. My mental, emotional and spiritual energy has shifted.

And I have really started to wonder 'what the heck is life after kids', because for so many years it never felt like that was even remotely close enough to consider

But now it is and I find myself in midlife, not feeling like I am middle aged, but knowing things need to change to honour myself and the next iteration of who I am becoming

So this episode I interview Katya D'antini about this exact topic 'Honouring The Midlife Pause'

    • What that means
    • How it shows up for us
    • What we can do to navigate life and business more in line with our energy as we grow into the next version of ourselves as women, mothers and members of our communities

#115 - Needs Based Selling - A Guide To Authentic Sales - Part Four - WHAT NOW?

#115 - Needs Based Selling - A Guide To Authentic Sales - Part Four - WHAT NOW?
*This is part four of a four-part series so make sure you head over and tune into eps 112 - 114 first*

Needs based selling is the process that I learned back in corporate and it's served me well in the 4 years I have been in business.

The reason we had such a structured process is that there was heavy regulation and also needed to safeguard the customer + the company against confusion in the end product the customer purchased.

Needs based selling ensures that you have happy clients who become repeat clients + refer you to other people, creating raving fans in your business.

It's the authentic way to sell and ensures that your potential clients buy what they NEED, rather than what they THINK they need or what we WANT to sell. So it really does create that beautiful scaffolding to the sales process.

I have broken up this process into 4 parts that you can adapt and use to your online sales copy, email convo's, DM's + phone calls or zoom calls. The four parts are:

    • - Starting with the relationship in mindKNOW
    • - Uncovering their needs in a human wayMISSION
    • - The non sleazy way to recommend how you can help them [or refer them if you can't]SHARE
    • - Confirming understanding and supporting them to make the right decision for themWHAT NOW
