A Rant: Why Dwelling Is The Wrong Strategy

    enFebruary 20, 2017

    Podcast Summary

    • Learning from past mistakes and moving forwardFocusing on regrets can hinder progress, it's important to learn from past experiences and move forward with a growth mindset.

Focusing on regrets and dwelling on past mistakes can hinder progress and entrepreneurial success. Instead, it's important to learn from past experiences and move forward with a growth mindset. The people who are willing to listen to us complain and dwell are typically our closest family and friends, or those who may be in similar unsuccessful situations. Regrets can be valuable for learning lessons, but dwelling on them can prevent us from seizing new opportunities and reaching our full potential. The speaker shares a personal example of missing an opportunity to sell a product to Amazon for potentially billions of dollars due to a lack of foresight in the past. However, instead of dwelling on this regret, it's essential to focus on the present and future. The speed at which we move forward is a crucial variable for success, and dwelling on regrets can slow us down. Instead of focusing on what we cannot change, we should focus on the present and the opportunities that lie ahead. The entrepreneurial journey is filled with challenges and setbacks, but it's essential to stay focused on the future and keep moving forward. By learning from our mistakes and using them as stepping stones for growth, we can overcome obstacles and achieve our goals.

The Most Important Question In Business

The Most Important Question In Business

Here’s the problem most people run into when they create content online: They think they have to have something to say. So many of you aren’t putting out content online because you think you need to have the perfect message, or something “valuable” to share (based on your own arbitrary opinion). And what I’m telling you is, you will get more business if you put out literally anything. If you’re an auto dealer, you could put out a 5 min video every afternoon just recapping what happened in your day. If you’re a real estate agent, you could post updates on what your opinions are about the Super Bowl teams. Get on social media and tell your truth … it’s really that simple.

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

There are so many people racing to earn more money than they can even spend even if they have to sacrifice their happiness and livelihood to do so. The really disturbing part about this is that most of these people only want the money so they can be flashy and show off their overly expensive cars (that they don't even want) and other dumb things to other people. Happiness needs to be the Northstar that we strive towards. If we aren't aiming to be happy, then is it really worth having more money than you can spend and more cars than you can drive? —

EP5: 3 months into my new life!!

EP5: 3 months into my new life!!

3 months ago yesterday I rolled into NC, having recently left the place I'd called home for the last 27 years. I packed up my car and my dogs and I headed from high in the Rockies to the Southern Atlantic Coast.
I'm now officially 3 months into my new life. A life I wanted nothing to do with. A life I was afraid of living, only to find out it's the best life I've lived in quite a few years. That just goes to show that I have NO idea what is good for me, while also learning that out of great grief can great joy eventually be felt.
My intention with this episode is to share my hope with anyone going through tough times, anyone who may eventually go through tough times, or anyone who has already also been through tough times.
To ALL: Please keep trudging forward! Planet Earth needs you :)
And as always, "Thanks for listening."

**DISCLAIMER: Please take note that any references to ketamine infusions or any other form of medicinal treatments, mainstream or non mainstream, are strictly meant to provide an insight into my own experiences. That being said, should you find yourself curious about anything spoken about on my podcast I firmly suggest speaking to a doctor/psychologist/therapist/family member/psychiatrist/etc. before making any decisions. Asking for help is a courageous act.

Forgotten OCD, Fox Mulder, & Pizza Hut Tragedy

Forgotten OCD, Fox Mulder, & Pizza Hut Tragedy

We're revisiting Brain Candy episodes 53 & 54 about personality tests, childhood nostalgia, and listener mail. We hear why Sarah knew she had OCD way back in 2016 and then somehow forgot despite having literally even symptom. She retook a personality test and her results now are not the same as in 2016, so we hear how she's changed. We discuss how the "worst case scenario" game she learned on Brain Candy is helpful to her still. Susie is still mourning the death of her childhood mecca, Pizza Hut, and she is demanding to speak with the manager. We debate what makes something "offensive" and whether we should apologize when we offend people.

Some of the key questions and points that I cover in this episode are:

    • Why is it important? What can someone do if they find themselves in a situation or position that they are not familiar with or don't have the expert level of knowledge required
    • How does one acquire new and/or develop existing stills, and close knowledge gap that might have existed?
    • Exploring self-learning as another form of personal education and growth throughout life, while continuously searching for new opportunities to learn and continue to grow personally and professionally - why is this important based on goals and objections that we set and work towards?
    • Are you happy where you are now? Do you want more? Do you want to continue to work on improving yourself each day? If so, then self-guided continuous learning is a must
    • Stop creating excuses for your own inability to motivate and push yourself to learn something new every day, resources are there and available for you to look for them and use the new knowledge acquired to move yourself forward
    • If you are committed in learning and growing and growing yourself on continuous basis then you will find an opportunity, if you are not ready and if you are satisfied where you are and don't want anything more then you will find and excuse - we choose how we want for our future to look
    • How can one develop experience needed to secure the dream job or to take the next step into a higher role along the existing career path?
    • Ways to create and live continuous education lifestyle
