    enNovember 13, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Cameron's Return to Cabinet Sparks Mixed ReactionsFormer PM Cameron's appointment as foreign secretary sparks debate over moderation and political agendas, with some viewing it as an opportunity and others as a challenge. Cameron's popularity is moderate, adding complexity to the political landscape.

Former Prime Minister David Cameron's return to the cabinet as foreign secretary in Rishi Sunak's government has sparked mixed reactions. While some view it as a significant step and an opportunity for a more moderate shift, others see it as a challenge to the ongoing fight against Labor. The appointment comes amidst a reshuffle that saw the departure of several ministers, including Suella Braverman, who was sacked after criticizing the police's handling of protests. The appointment is seen as a move to appease the more moderate wing of the Conservative Party, but it remains to be seen how it will impact the government's agenda and its popularity with the British people. YouGov's latest polling places Cameron as the 12th most popular Conservative politician, indicating that his return may not be met with universal approval. Overall, the appointment adds another layer of complexity to the political landscape, as the government faces a daunting set of international challenges and domestic pressures.

    • Protests and counter-protests in the UK and GazaTommy Robinson's EDL group had planned protests, Israeli raids in Gaza disrupted services, a baby passed away, Royal Mail was fined, flexible health insurance offered, and a skincare deal available

The protests and counter-protests in the news were not solely caused by an article from the home secretary, but had been planned beforehand. Tommy Robinson and his EDL group had been preparing for their protests. Meanwhile, in Gaza, the Israeli Defense Forces conducted raids for weapons near a refugee camp, allegedly finding Hamas infrastructure in civilian buildings like Al Quds University and the Central Mosque. The World Health Organization reported that the al Shifa hospital was not functioning due to a lack of water and electricity for three days. Elsewhere, an eight-month-old baby named Indi Gregory passed away after her life support was switched off due to mitochondrial disease. Royal Mail was fined £5.6 million for failing to meet its delivery targets in the last year. In other news, UnitedHealthcare TriTerm Medical plans offer flexible, budget-friendly health insurance coverage lasting nearly three years in some states. Lastly, Osea's mega moisture duo, featuring Undaria Algae Body Oil and Undaria Collagen Body Lotion, can help nourish and give your skin a glow. Use code "glow" at osea malibu dot com for a 10% discount on your first order. Despite the changes in the world over the past three years, such as the rise of chatbots, the need for health insurance remains constant.

Great Scott! Obama Has a Time Machine!

Great Scott! Obama Has a Time Machine!

In the second segment of this week's show we turn our attention to the week in news.

Libya: Is the U.S. engaging in third conflict in the Middle East? Did Obama require Congressional approval before launching Cruise missiles into the country? What is the "mission", end-game and role of the U.S. and NATO allies in enforcing the no-fly zone? Is it possible to support the fall of Gaddafi, yet not have to commit long-term to the potential aftermath of a country without leadership and/or prolonged nation-building to fill any vacuum left by Gaddafi’s overthrow? We attempt to bring light to the events in Libya and what we view as the major issues facing U.S. involvement.

Obama’s Birth Certificate: Can we finally put this ridiculous narrative to bed? In this portion of the segment, we discuss the overwhelming evidence of Obama’s citizenship and birth in Hawaii, and why those who perpetuate this story are grasping at pathetic straws due to the lack of any other substantive or real argument about the man and his policies. We also address the issue of the GOP’s obsession with Obama’s father and his supposed “influence” on the President’s world-view.

Politics: We round out the segment with some 2012 Presidential election discussion and what we see as the issues facing the incumbent President, in addition to the issues facing the GOP and their split allegiances between the traditional conservative voters and the nonsensical rhetoric of the Tea Party. Can the GOP win by hugging the fence between “birthers” and the more moderate conservative and independent voters? Is it possible to be considered a serious candidate, while embracing the rhetoric of the far-right / Tea Party?

Paper View - Episode 46 - Public Opinion

Paper View - Episode 46 - Public Opinion
This is the final episode of 2018. Paper View returns in January 2019.

In this episode, I talk about the changing public opinion towards politics and the political system.

French protestors in yellow vests - the gillets jaunes - have made their feelings known about the political system under Macron in France. I cover this story and talk about protests in general.

Public opinion towards politics in general in Britain has changed, especially due to the farcical Brexit negotiations. I talk a bit about Brexit as I've talked about it many times before, and I also talk about changing public opinion towards politics.

It's apparently anti-Semitic to criticise George Soros and expose his international manipulation, simply because he's Jewish. This is nonsensical. I've talked about George Soros before and in this episode, I talk about why a University founded by George Soros has been kicked out of Hungary. I explain why Hungary don't want anything to do with George Soros.

And finally, I feature a festive Christmas story. A Nebraska prinicipal has been put on leave after banning certain expressions of Christmas in school. I talk about political correctness in relation to a story like this, and why being offended about 'religious' symbols in relation to Christmas is just a mis-understanding as I explain the real origin of Christmas.
