Daily Wire Backstage: State of the Union 2023 Coverage

    enFebruary 08, 2023

    Podcast Summary

    • Shifting Cultural Norms: Satanic Imagery at the GrammysThe left's provocative displays at events like the Grammys are now the cultural norm. Conservatives should recognize this and focus on promoting positive values instead of reacting to their baiting.

The cultural norms are shifting, and what was once considered counterculture or even taboo is now being embraced and celebrated in mainstream society. The Grammys, as an example, have become a platform for satanic imagery and self-expression, which was once fringe but is now the cultural norm. The left often uses terms like "gaslighting" to dismiss conservative reactions to such events, but the observations are valid. The left has become the dominant culture, and it's essential for conservatives to recognize this and respond accordingly, rather than reacting to their provocations. The left intentionally baits conservatives with controversial displays, and it's crucial to avoid engaging in their game and instead focus on promoting positive values and countering their narratives.

    • Shift towards Satanic Themes in EntertainmentSpeaker expresses disappointment in Sam Smith's reported shift towards satanic themes at the Grammys and criticizes the normalization of such themes in entertainment without pushback from audience or media, also touches on concerns over internet and data collection.

According to the speaker, there seems to be a shift towards promoting satanic themes in the entertainment industry, specifically at the Grammys, with artists like Sam Smith reportedly engaging in satanic rituals and receiving standing ovations. The speaker expresses disappointment in Smith's alleged change in direction, as they believe his prior music was beautiful and about love and loss. They also criticize the normalization of such themes and the apparent lack of pushback from the audience and media. The speaker also touches on the role of the internet and data collection in shaping our experiences and privacy.

    • Protecting user privacy with ExpressVPN, Challenging societal norms with Kim PetrasExpressVPN safeguards privacy with encrypted connections, while Kim Petras advocates for acceptance and love, but normalization of taboo can lead to exploitation

ExpressVPN provides an encrypted connection to protect user privacy, making it harder for third parties to trace online activities. Meanwhile, in other news, Kim Petras, a pop star who transitioned surgically at a young age, challenged societal norms and religious institutions, asserting that everyone deserves acceptance and love. The performance discussed was not considered sexually provocative due to the normalization of taboo subjects in modern culture. The term "diabolical" originally means to separate or divide, and Hollywood's push for normalizing the taboo may aim to remove shame and promote acceptance, but it can also lead to cruelty and exploitation, as seen in the case of a gamer girl who became a victim of deepfake pornography.

    • Culture's obsession with pornography and its consequencesThe focus on individual rights to consume harmful content overlooks its impact on our common culture and values, leading to complex issues like the 'purity grift'.

The culture's obsession with pornography and the normalization of dehumanizing content, such as deepfakes, has serious consequences for individuals and society as a whole. The focus on freedom to consume such content overlooks the deeper question of its impact on our common culture and values. The Grammys incident is an example of this, where the primary question of whether such content is beneficial or harmful was overshadowed by debates over individual rights. This phenomenon, known as the "purity grift," can be observed in various aspects of society and politics, where the rigid adherence to momentary ideologies can lead to a disregard for complexities and nuances. Ultimately, it's crucial to consider the long-term effects of our actions and the values we promote in our culture.

    • Grammy Awards performance and societal issuesThe prioritization of political purity over authenticity and individual liberty in society is a detrimental trend, as seen in the criticized Grammy Awards performance, threatening the fabric of a free society. Adults should be allowed to make their own choices and popular culture should focus on authenticity and creativity.

The Grammy Awards performance by Sam Smith and others, which was criticized for being politically motivated and artistically questionable, highlights a larger issue in society: the prioritization of political purity over authenticity and individual liberty. This performance, filled with transvestites and controversial symbols, was designed for a younger audience and serves as a mockery to creation itself from a traditional Christian perspective. The constant need to appease the dominant political ideologies and pass the purity tests is a detrimental trend in politics, threatening the very fabric of a free society. It's essential to remember that adults should be allowed to make their own choices, even if they may not align with societal norms, and that popular culture is primarily targeted towards children. The lack of originality and creativity in these performances is a clear indication that we are in desperate need of a shift towards authenticity and individual liberty.

    • Challenging the status quo for authentic innovationTrue innovation often faces resistance and challenges societal norms, as seen in art and various domains, including Genucel's probiotic-based skincare line.

In the trans-humanist moment or any societal context, conforming to popular opinion and repeating in-vogue ideas may be politically easier, but it doesn't equate to having the right ideas or being authentic. True innovation and transgression, whether in art or other domains, often challenge the status quo and may face resistance. Another interesting discussion revolved around Genucel skin care, which was praised for its effectiveness and the inspiring story of its founder, George. The probiotic-based skincare line aims to restore balance to the skin's microbiome and deliver noticeable results. Lastly, there was a skeptical perspective on the balloon story, suggesting it might have been a distraction tactic to divert attention from more pressing issues like the Pfizer meeting with the CHAI comms. Overall, the conversation touched on various topics, including politics, art, and personal stories.

    • Alleged Chinese spy balloon used as a distraction?Speaker questions US gov't sincerity over Chinese spy balloon, suspects ulterior motives for public events

The discussion revolves around the alleged Chinese spy balloon incident and the suspicion that it was used as a distraction from other issues. The speaker expresses his belief that the US government was not sincere in its response to the balloon, and that it was used as a way to divert attention from other matters. He also mentions the involvement of former officials like John Bolton and Bono, and the symbolism behind some of the attendees at the State of the Union address. Overall, the speaker suggests that there may be ulterior motives behind public events and that it's important to be critical and questioning of official narratives.

    • Politicians exploiting funerals for political gainPoliticians using funerals to pitch their agendas disrespects the deceased and their families, and fuels conspiracy theories when transparency is lacking.

Politicians using funerals for political gain is a disturbing trend. From the Paul Wellstone funeral in Minnesota to Barack Obama's speeches at memorials for victims of shootings, politicians have shown up at funerals of people they don't know and given speeches, often using the opportunity to pitch their political agendas. This behavior was discussed in the context of the Paul Pelosi incident, where some speculated about the motivations behind the break-in at Pelosi's home. While some argued that the incident could have been used to put to rest conspiracy theories, others pointed out that the lack of transparency and quick release of information in similar situations involving Pelosi and her husband had fueled speculation. Overall, the consensus was that using funerals for political gain is a gross and disrespectful practice. Additionally, the discussion touched on the crime problem in San Francisco and the secrecy surrounding the Pelosi incident.

    • Media's incompetence fuels conspiracy theoriesThe media's failure to scrutinize political parties and the incompetence of law enforcement have contributed to a culture of conspiracy theories, skepticism towards the government, and public dissatisfaction.

The media's lack of scrutiny towards political parties has led to a culture of conspiracy theories and mistrust. The recent Paul Pelosi incident highlighted the incompetence of the police in handling the situation, who later released information to fuel conspiracy theories. Meanwhile, President Joe Biden is preparing for his State of the Union address, facing skepticism over his jobs report and the general public's dissatisfaction with the government. Despite this, Biden is expected to deliver an optimistic speech, which many find insulting given the current economic struggles and dissatisfaction with the government.

    • Biden's Lies Don't Offend Like Trump's DidThough Biden's false claims during SOTU cause less public uproar, Americans feel misrepresented by media and seek authenticity from companies like Black Rifle Coffee

While Joe Biden's lies may be more consequential than Donald Trump's, they do not offend the sensibilities of the public to the same extent. Biden can make false claims during his State of the Union address without facing significant backlash from the public or the media. Meanwhile, Trump's lies were offensive due to their blatancy and disregard for political norms. Despite this, many Americans still feel misrepresented by the media and are aware of the discrepancy between what is reported and their own beliefs. Black Rifle Coffee, a veteran-led business, provides a solution for those seeking truth and authenticity with their high-quality roasts, donations to veterans and first responders, and commitment to excellence.

    • The impact of social proof on electionsSocial proof significantly influences public perception during elections. It validates people's feelings and can lead to unexpected outcomes. Media reinforcement can make or break a candidate's image.

Social proof plays a significant role in shaping public perception, particularly during elections. When there is a lack of social proof to validate people's feelings, they may second-guess themselves, leading to unexpected election outcomes. For instance, President Barack Obama's re-election in 2012, despite having poor economic indicators, was largely due to the media's reinforcement of his presidency. Conversely, the lack of social proof around Joe Biden's perceived lack of talent and threat level could make it challenging for opponents to generate a sense of threat around him, despite concerns about his agenda. Ultimately, the American public has a role to play in electing competent leaders, and the power of social proof should not be underestimated.

    • Majestic ceremony, divisive speechThe State of the Union address was met with anticipation and skepticism, with critics finding the speech interminable and lacking substance, while others saw it as a symbolic event. The president's policy proposals and delivery were criticized, and the opposition party's response was also a topic of discussion.

The State of the Union address was met with a mix of anticipation and skepticism, with some finding the ceremony majestic and symbolic, while others found the speech itself to be interminable and lacking substance. The president's delivery and policy proposals were criticized, with some noting the irony of his stance on certain issues. The opposition party's response was also a topic of discussion, with some expressing disappointment in the choice of speaker. Overall, the address served as a reminder of the political divide in the country and the ongoing challenges facing the nation.

    • Criticisms of President Biden's Policies and SpeechesSome criticized President Biden's vaccine mandates and drug price policies, while others noted inconsistencies in his speeches, leading to confusion and frustration.

During a recent discussion, there were criticisms regarding President Joe Biden's policies, specifically his attempts to mandate vaccines and his handling of drug prices. Some argued that his actions were being applauded despite similar actions taken by the previous administration. There were also discussions about unity and the perception of certain events. Furthermore, there were criticisms about the President's State of the Union speech, which was described as incoherent and rambling. Some also pointed out instances where the President seemed to misrepresent facts or contradict himself during the speech. Overall, there was a general sentiment that the President's actions and words have not always aligned, leading to confusion and frustration among some.

    • Political Speech Sparks Controversy Over Affectionate Moment and Double StandardsA seemingly affectionate moment between Dr. Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff raised eyebrows, while historical examples of confrontational parliamentary proceedings were criticized. The gap between Biden's actions and policies may challenge Democrats, and the ongoing abortion debate was addressed. The speaker advocated for more open and honest political discourse.

The public display of a seemingly affectionate moment between Dr. Jill Biden and Kamala Harris' husband during a political speech raised eyebrows and was considered bad optics. The speaker also criticized the double standard when it comes to yelling at politicians, pointing out historical examples of confrontational parliamentary proceedings. Additionally, the speaker highlighted the gap between President Biden's actions and his policies, which may present a challenge for the Democrats. The speaker also mentioned the ongoing debate over abortion and the role of politicians in advocating for certain policies. Ultimately, the speaker argued for more open and honest political discourse, drawing comparisons to parliamentary systems and historical examples.

    • Discussing the importance of natural personal care products and politicsConsider using natural and non-toxic personal care products. Politics can shape public opinion, and media plays a significant role. Biden's perceived weaknesses might be exploited, and Michelle Obama could potentially run for president.

This discussion highlights the importance of using natural and non-toxic products for personal grooming, as opposed to those laced with chemicals. The speaker also touches upon the topic of political commentary and the role of the media in shaping public opinion. Additionally, the conversation suggests that President Biden's perceived disconnectedness and mental slippage might actually be an advantage for those who manipulate his actions. The speaker also expresses their belief that Michelle Obama could potentially run for president, but only if a strong and statesmanlike Republican candidate does not emerge.

    • President Biden's Controversial Topics Backloaded in State of the Union AddressPresident Biden aimed to win back blue-collar voters and focus on protectionist economic policies, but his controversial topics and lack of addressing inflation could be a risky move.

During his recent State of the Union address, President Biden strategically backloaded controversial topics like equity agenda, policing, and environmental issues, assuming viewers would tune out early. He aimed to win back blue-collar voters and focus on protectionist economic policies. However, his party and media might not support this approach. Biden cleverly started with conciliatory lines towards Kevin McCarthy and Mitch McConnell, while avoiding addressing inflation, which is currently at 6.5%, more than three times the normal rate. Instead, he promised specific cost reductions, hoping to distract from the inflation elephant in the room. Despite his promises, many of his social policies seem aimed at helping high-income individuals, raising questions about who truly benefits from his administration. Biden's strategy of focusing on specific cost reductions while ignoring inflation could be a risky move.

    • Importance of investing in education discussed in SOTU addressPolitical leaders emphasized the need to improve literacy exams and invest in education during the State of the Union address, but the speech's political impact was seen as minimal.

Despite the political drama surrounding President Joe Biden's State of the Union address, the educational system remains a significant concern. The discussion highlighted the importance of investing in education and the concerning state of literacy exams. However, the political impact of the speech was seen as minimal, with some commentators suggesting that the Democrats' strategy was not particularly innovative. The conversation also touched upon the ongoing speculation regarding Biden's political future and the potential impact of his administration on various issues. Overall, the conversation underscored the importance of addressing educational challenges and the role of political leadership in shaping national discourse.

Ep. 1396 - A System Run By Illiterate Imbeciles

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, a judge in Atlanta was just arrested and removed from the bench after getting into a fight at a nightclub and assaulting a police officer. Again: this woman works as a judge, not a waitress at Waffle House. But, she is just a symptom of a much larger problem. We'll discuss. Also, I'll offer my preview of tonight's presidential debate. Climate protesters attempt a very unique and hilarious method of stopping traffic. And, a guy on Twitter is roundly mocked and ridiculed after offering some unorthodox life advice to young men. As usual, the peanut gallery is wrong.

Ep. 1395 - A Flock Of Drag Queens Descend On Capitol Hill

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, yesterday was "Drag Lobby Day" on Capitol Hill as several drag queens descended on our nation's capital to lobby for a host of awful legislation. The whole event was a flop, though, which may tell us something. Also, the Biden Administration promotes another cross-dressing man. The city of Los Angeles cracks down on people who are committing the crime of trying to make their communities safe and livable. And, the first annual "FatCon," a convention for fat people, just happened. I'll have the highlights, in case you were under the weight limit and couldn't attend.

Ep. 1393 - Christian Conservatives Proven Right Once Again As Abstinence 'Trend' Gains Popularity

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, the media has discovered a hot new trend. It's called abstinence. For years the Left mocked Christian conservatives for promoting abstinence. Now, they're coming around, but for all the wrong reasons. Also, Jamaal Bowman and AOC team up for the cringiest campaign rally of all time. Donald Trump made two campaign promises over the weekend: one very good and one very bad. And, the wife of an NFL quarterback says that she convinced her now-husband to date her by hooking up with his backup. Why would any wife share a story like that?

    Ep. 1392 - Disney’s Not So Secret Anti-White Agenda

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, we've heard about Disney's not-so-secret gay agenda. Now, thanks to James O'Keefe, we know more about their not-so-secret anti-white agenda. Also, MSNBC talking heads do their best to explain why classrooms should have pride flags but shouldn't have the Ten Commandments. Their argument is more revealing than they wanted it to be. And, can racism cause cancer? That was the premise of an episode of an NBC medical drama. It was not satire. Not intentionally, anyway.

Ep. 1391 - Anti-Human Eco Brats Deface One Of The Oldest Monuments On Earth

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, the anti-human climate alarmist brats are at it again. This time, they defaced one of the oldest and most historically significant monuments on the planet. These people don't love the planet. They just hate humanity. Also, Louisiana is mandating a copy of the Ten Commandments for every classroom in the state. The usual suspects are claiming that this is an attack on the First Amendment. I'll explain why that's ridiculous. And, the "bio-hacking" movement continues to grow. These are people who think that dying is a choice, rather than an inevitable fact of human existence.

Ep. 1390 - Major Polling Firm Changes Its Own Results After Left-Wing Activists Complain

Today on the Matt Walsh Show, the term "Orwellian" is overused these days–but, no other word can describe what just happened with a Pew survey finding that a vast majority of black Americans believe in racial conspiracy theories. The findings were so upsetting to activists that Pew went back and changed the report. This is a crazy story that few are talking about. We'll discuss. Also, Donald Trump reportedly floated the idea of abolishing the income tax. That's a great idea that should garner a lot more enthusiasm than it does. And, a democratic congresswoman claims that she miraculously cured cancer. Where are the fact-checkers on this one?

A Conservative's View on Democrats' Biggest Weakness

A Conservative's View on Democrats' Biggest Weakness

“There is definitely a contest for the future of the center right,” says Reihan Salam, the president of the Manhattan Institute, a conservative think tank. In his telling, one side in this contest is “deeply pessimistic about the prospect of a diversifying America, explicitly anti-urban and increasingly willing to embrace redistribution and centralized power,” more so than conservatism before Donald Trump. This populist right has received a lot of attention since Trump’s election, and we’ve done other shows to try to understand it.

But Salam is advancing a very different set of ideas with a very different theory of the electorate. He’s identified what he sees as a core fissure between the progressive elites who run the Democratic Party and the working-class voters of color who make up a large part of its base — particularly on issues of race and gender. And he believes that by putting forward an “urban conservative” agenda centered on education, housing and public safety, Republicans can exploit those internal cleavages and begin to win over demographics that have been central to the Democratic coalition.

So for the final episode in our “The Rising Right” series, I wanted to use Salam’s thoughts to explore this alternate path for the American right. We discuss why the Republican Party has turned against major cities, whether antiracism is the right framework for addressing racial inequality, why he believes that children of Latino and Asian immigrants could become a core G.O.P. constituency, the difference between antiracism and “antiracialism,” the tactics of the anti-critical-race-theory movement, why he thinks there’s been an “overcorrection” on the right in favor of state power and redistribution, what a supply-side conservatism beyond just tax cuts could look like, why he believes we could be entering an era of “fiscal constraints” that could radically reshape policymaking on both the left and right and more.

Another day, another Tory racism row

Another day, another Tory racism row

Today's Tory 'was it racist?' row centres a donor who's given the Conservatives more than ten million pounds.

The Guardian scoop revealed comments he made 5 years ago - centring on the now-suspended Labour MP Dianne Abbott whom he blamed for making him 'want to hate all black women'.

Rishi Sunak has called the comments 'clearly unacceptable' but refused to call them racist.

Is there any chance he'll chose to return the money? And why is the Tory party struggling with yet another case of the 'Lee Anderson's'.

The Unseen Layers: Navigating Emotional Landscapes in Relationships

The Unseen Layers: Navigating Emotional Landscapes in Relationships

In this emotionally charged episode of Berry Unearthed: Rooted in Resilience, Phil and Crystal delve into the hidden intricacies of their relationship. They kick things off by discussing the art of eliciting reactions from each other—sometimes for humor and sometimes as a barometer for emotional states. Phil shares his amusement in pushing Crystal's buttons just to see her react, highlighting the childlike joy that can be found in long-term relationships.

As the conversation deepens, Phil and Crystal explore the idea of "emotional mechanics," the unseen forces that keep a relationship ticking. Phil admits to sometimes being the instigator but also appreciates the balance and boundary-setting that Crystal brings to the table. Crystal, in turn, values Phil's provocations as opportunities for self-reflection and growth.

The duo shifts gears to discuss the concept of resilience within relationships. They both agree that resilience isn't just about bouncing back from hardships but also about navigating the day-to-day nuances that come with being in a committed partnership. Phil stresses the importance of not taking things too seriously, while Crystal emphasizes the need for conscious decision-making rather than reacting out of emotional impulse.

In a surprising turn, the episode segues into a broader discussion about societal expectations and how they can strain relationships. Phil criticizes the media's role in polarizing opinions and fostering a culture of outrage, advocating for more independent thinking. Crystal counters by pointing out that genuine change requires a collective effort, something that can be daunting in a society resistant to change.

Throughout the episode, both Phil and Crystal exhibit a level of vulnerability that adds depth to their discussions. They acknowledge the challenges they've faced in their own relationship, from communication breakdowns to differing perspectives on various issues. Yet, they both agree that it's the journey, with its struggles and triumphs, that makes a relationship truly resilient and fulfilling.

In wrapping up, they stress the importance of continuous growth, open communication, and the value of both embracing and challenging each other's viewpoints. This episode serves as a masterclass in maintaining a resilient relationship, making it a must-listen for anyone invested in personal growth and relational dynamics.
