    About this Episode

Bailey Evans joins Stephanie today to discuss the ways yoga has impacted her life and how doing more yoga is a good thing.

"I started doing yoga before I had a back surgery under the advisement of my spinal surgeon...which was incredible because this was 12 years ago...yoga was a thing but not so mainstream that you would expect a recommendation from a surgeon that said you need to get really strong and you also need to do a lot of yoga. So, he gifted me this. Honestly. So after back surgery yoga was really the only thing that helped me manage my pain. It's been a big part of my life ever since." - Bailey Evans

    About Bailey

Bailey is a pun loving snack-a-holic athlete. She adores her dog Stella (who you can frequently find at the studio), all things outdoors, Mint Milanos, but she especially loves helping students find the delight in their yoga practice. She began practicing yoga prior to a full thoracic spinal fusion, but stayed with it because she realized it made everything in her life better, including herself.

Bailey has spent the last ten years in pursuit of deepening her knowledge of all things yoga through studying with numerous teachers. She has since become a master teacher, having studied over five thousand hours, and taught over thirteen thousand hours. To her, yoga is the foundation for everything. The way you move on the mat is the way you do your job, the way you participate in relationships, the way you move through the world. She opened Ekam Yoga in Bozeman in the hopes to create a studio that would enable her clients to become joyful participants in a life long yoga practice.

"Choosing courage helps build inner trust, it grows strength and we are actually developing new neural pathways in the brain when we choose courage despite being scared. It's like teaching the body and the mind and the soul that it is safe - and not typically life threatening or dangerous - to the harder, more authentic path." - Anna Rapson

Discover Your True Self With Energy Healing

Discover Your True Self With Energy Healing

Erin Chamberlin joins Stephanie to discuss ways to discover your true self with energy healing.

"Energy healing works simply with the energy systems of our body. It has the goal of creating harmony between our mental, emotional, physical and spiritual selves. It has a foundation in eastern culture and practices where we recognize energy as the life force that flows through absolutely everything." - Erin Chamberlin

    About Erin

Erin Chamberlin is an energy healer, a ‘body whisperer,’ and a guide. She is a Certified Emotion Code Practitioner, Certified Body Code Practitioner and an ordained Reverend (Minister of Walking Prayer) through the Center for Sacred Studies in California. She is blessed to have received teachings from many elders and mentors, the majority of whom are indigenous women carrying the knowledge of their lineages forward.

Erin found ‘alternative’ wellness because she was once deeply unwell herself. She was in her mid-to-late twenty’s, was chronically ill, felt completely lost, and was experiencing a personal crisis of faith. At her lowest point, it was yoga and acupuncture which first helped her understand the mind-body-spirit connection and the power of Eastern Medicine. Her spiritual awakening unfolded over the next few years, as she learned to take ownership of her gifts and all the ways they had been unconsciously ruling her life.

The most impactful discovery for her, in terms of creating true wellness in her life, was Energy Healing. Specifically the Emotion Code and Body Code modalities as developed by Dr. Bradley Nelson. By becoming conscious of her emotional baggage and releasing it with these methods, she was finally getting ‘unstuck.’  She was able to reconnect to her own inner wisdom; to hear that quiet voice inside herself rather than being so caught up in old stories and external validation. While it was quite a journey to become a practitioner, it was (and still is) so empowering to witness how energy healing improves all areas of our lives!

Healing with Chinese Herbal Medicine and Somatic Experiencing

Healing with Chinese Herbal Medicine and Somatic Experiencing

Katie Cook-Bretson joins Stephanie to discuss healing with Chinese Herbal Medicine and Somatic Experiencing.

"I got into somatic experiencing really through a blessing. It weaves together perfectly with acupuncture and body work because it helps us learn how to listen to our bodies at that cellular wiring behind the scenes. The idea behind it is that we are working on all of the past tendencies and traumas that we have accumulated through life and the way that each of our nervous systems is wired uniquely. We are becoming astute listeners to our inside world so that we can create change through this awareness." - Katie Cook-Bretson

    About Katie

Katie’s experience has been woven together with 16 years of experience working with all walks of life: athletes, moms-to-be, anyone in big transitions, and those seeking better balance in their health.

Katie has always been inspired by the capacity of the human body. In 2006 she began her career as a massage therapist working closely with athletes at the top of their sport to help them refine their performance, recovery, prevent injuries, and heal gracefully. She worked at Bozeman Health spending time in the cancer center, hospice, post-operative, and obstetrics departments getting to see a wide variety of clients. After working closely with pregnant women and new mothers in their postpartum time, she trained as a Doula. As Katie attuned her skills, she realized there was more depth to health than the physical which led her to her next evolution in healthcare.

In 2016 Katie earned a masters degree from the Academy of 5-Element Acupuncture in acupuncture and Chinese herbal medicine with the desire to practice medicine that looks at the larger picture of what it is to be human, in our own unique balanced health. She studied a classical lineage that looks at the virtue of each individual and supports our potential by not just managing symptoms but going deeper into the balancing all the body’s systems – physically, emotionally and spiritually.

Over the years she has studied several modalities of healing including Somatic Experiencing, Structural Integration, movement education, pregnancy massage, labor support, nutrition, aromatherapy, herbal medicine and classical acupuncture modalities. She uniquely blends treatments looking at the larger capacity for health through several lenses blending traditional healing wisdom of the East together with modern medicine of the West.

Katie devoutly continues her education and blending medicine into her own life’s journey. She is currently enrolled in the three-year Somatic Experiencing training with Abi Blakslee, and the two-year clinical immersion courses of Body Work and Somatic Experiencing with Dave Berger and Deepening Perspectives with Lonnie Jarrett.

One integral aspect of health that Katie has always held high in her values is connection in community. She believes we are stronger together in all aspects of our lives. In 2017 she and Dr. Holcomb Johnston joined forces to fulfill the dream of creating an integrative medical practice filled with experienced providers in multiple healing modalities. Through the combination of over 30 years in healthcare, they birthed Enso Natural Medicine with the goal of supporting the Bozeman and surrounding Montana community.

If Katie is not at Enso, you'll likely find her looking through the world from the eyes of her new baby, outside exploring the mountains, in the garden, on her yoga mat, crafting something in the kitchen or spending time with her Bozeman family (friends).

    The Power of the Pause

    The Power of the Pause

Anna Rapson rejoins Stephanie to discuss the power of the pause and ways to incorporate mindful moments in your day and throughout your life.

"A pause can be really helpful in those triggering or high conflict - even minor conflict - scenarios. Where, if we stop, we can feel in our bodies that something is off. Something isn't setting well. It can be helpful to check the body. Do I feel that in my chest, is there something going on in my gut, are my shoulders or jaw tightening? Our bodies are really informative in terms or how regulated or unregulated we are." - Anna Rapson

    Eat More Plants

    Eat More Plants

Certified integrative nutrition health coach, Karen Mitchell, joins Stephanie to discuss how adding more plants to your diet can dramatically improve your health.

"I would say that one of the reasons to go to a plant-based diet is because, in modern life, our foods are made conveniently from processed sources. This can wreak havoc on our intestinal system, our immune system and our entire body. So this is one big benefit of going plant-based - or just eating more plants - because we are getting more nutrition from the source." - Karen Mitchell

    Outside Wellness Coaching

    Outside Wellness Coaching

Emma Capulong joins Stephanie today to discuss wellness coaching for women and why getting outside is always a good idea.

"When we come up against a problem - when we say, 'Hey, this is going on in my life' - so much of the response is 'Oh, have you tried this...?' I heard this amongst the youth I was working with, from mentors and I had to fight the urge in myself to go into that fixing mentality. So when I heard about coaching as a career and that there was actually training to become a coach around wellbeing...I had to learn more." - Emma Capulong

    Spreading Kindness

Kelly Krenzel joins Stephanie today to discuss her repurposed flower project and the simple art of spreading kindness & joy.

"When people are in a really tender spot in their lives, the smallest thing can mean so much. For an everyday person...like you and me...when we are going through an extraordinarily difficult time, just a handwritten card or somebody opening the door for us can make us feel that we are seen and that we are loved." - Kelly Krenzel

    About Kelly

Kelly Krenzel is the founder of Hope Blooms, a budding non-profit that recycles flowers to spread hope, happiness and emotional healing to those facing difficult times. She also works in marketing for a hospice organization, spreading the mission and sharing the stories of those who experience it firsthand. The organization is nearly 100% volunteer run with volunteers spending more than 3,000 hours creating more than 20,000 bouquets since its inception. Kelly grew up in Bismarck, N.D., and resides in Fargo where she met her husband, Scotty, at a local pizzeria.
