Cereal is a versatile and convenient food option for various situations. It caters to different preferences, from those who want something quick and easy, to those who desire a bit of texture or even a sweet addition. Cereal has stood the test of time, with various brands and flavors still available. Despite the occasional disagreements and playful banter, the hosts' shared love for cereal remained a constant throughout their conversation. They even went as far as promoting an upcoming Amazon Prime special, which they had already seen, and encouraging listeners to check out. Their humor and lightheartedness added to the overall enjoyment of the discussion. So, whether you're looking for a quick breakfast, a snack, or a source of entertainment, cereal might just be the answer.

    • Unexpected explicit content in 'Outlander'Discovering mature themes in unexpected shows highlights the importance of being mindful of content and surroundings.

The speaker and her husband have discovered the TV show "Outlander" and were surprised by its explicit content, which goes beyond what they had expected based on their mother's recommendations. They had previously used the service for quick delivery and were initially unaware of the show's mature themes. The couple found themselves feeling out of place during a recent holiday at a more upscale hotel where they were the only ones drinking during the day. Despite some initial shock, they have come to enjoy the show and plan to continue watching it, acknowledging that they record and release their podcast episodes in small doses during their vacations. Overall, the experience has highlighted the importance of being aware of the content they consume and the environments they find themselves in.

    • Trusting a Parent's JudgmentEvery child develops uniquely, trust a parent's understanding of their child's behavior, and communicate effectively to resolve misunderstandings.

Parents know their children best, and sometimes unusual behaviors can be misconstrued by others. In this story, a father explained how his son enjoyed swimming with his head underwater, which made onlookers believe he was drowning. Despite being accused by a lifeguard, the father stood his ground and defended his son's swimming style. This incident highlights the importance of trusting a parent's judgment and understanding that every child develops differently. The father's experience also shows that interactions with the public can lead to misunderstandings and frustration, but it's essential to keep calm and communicate effectively to resolve any issues. Additionally, the conversation touched upon the topic of tans and the father's admiration for a particular lifeguard's exceptional tan.

    • Participant's anxiety about competitionDespite preparation and encouragement, some participants experience anxiety and self-doubt before a competition, fearing they won't measure up to others' skills or appearances.

The upcoming Strictly Come Dancing competition has one of the participants feeling anxious and uncertain about her participation, especially since she used to dance and has seen the high caliber of the other dancers. During a conversation, she expressed her apprehension about watching her partner dance with other female dancers, who are married to male dancers in the competition. She also shared her fears about looking unfit and not being able to keep up with the demands of the competition. Despite the excitement and encouragement from friends, she admitted to feeling frightened and unsure about her ability to perform well. She has been preparing for the competition by working out and filming her interviews, but the pressure and anticipation are starting to build up.

    • Co-host's Invasion of Privacy and Unpleasant Habit Irk RosemaryRosemary expressed concerns over her co-host's invasion of privacy and an unpleasant habit, but emphasized her love for the podcast craft

The speaker, Rosemary Ramsay, had several grievances against her podcast co-host, La Moi. The primary issue was an invasion of privacy, as La Moi recorded and shared on the podcast Rosemary's workout sounds without her consent. Another beef was a seemingly trivial matter: Rosemary's dislike for La Moi's habit of chewing on a toenail she had picked off and eating it. Despite these issues, Rosemary emphasized that her motivations for the podcast were not monetary but out of love for the craft. The conversation took place in a shared space, including a gym, a playroom, and a dining area, adding to the sense of intimacy and violation. The conversation continued with more light-hearted banter and reminiscing about past experiences.

    • Everyone has quirksAccept others' differences and remember that everyone, including yourself, has unique habits

People, even those who seem normal on the surface, can have unusual habits or preferences. The speaker shared several examples from his past, including using the plastic lid from a pop bottle or the glue from a chewing gum wrapper as chew toys. These behaviors may seem odd to others, but they brought satisfaction to him. This anecdote serves as a reminder that everyone has quirks and that it's essential to be understanding and accepting of others' differences. Additionally, the speaker mentioned the importance of rating and subscribing to the podcast if people enjoy it.

    • Misunderstandings from AssumptionsAssumptions can lead to misunderstandings and awkward situations. Always clarify and double-check to avoid potential embarrassment and maintain respect.

Assumptions can lead to misunderstandings and awkward situations. The speaker shared an experience where they accidentally ate an elderly man's Kit Kat, thinking it was their own. Despite feeling uncomfortable and traumatized, neither party spoke up about the mistake. This incident brought back memories of a similar experience involving sunglasses that the speaker's aunt had. In both cases, the individuals involved didn't communicate clearly, leading to confusion and potential embarrassment. It's important to double-check assumptions and clarify situations to avoid misunderstandings and maintain respect for others.

    • Unexpected situations and humorCommunication is key to preventing misunderstandings. Be open to humor, even in embarrassing situations. Avoid fast playback settings on iPhones for optimal listening experience.

Life can be unpredictable and sometimes funny, even in unexpected situations. This was evident in a story shared by Rosie and Chris about a friend mistakenly wearing Rosie's sunglasses, and another listener's experience of mistaking baby oil for water during a hangover. The importance of communication and correcting misunderstandings was also highlighted, as was the importance of being open to humor, even in potentially embarrassing situations. Additionally, the podcast discussed a public service announcement about adjusting listening settings on iPhones to prevent fast playback and potential listener disengagement.

    • Story of losing valuable possession due to drunkennessDrinking to excess can lead to regretful actions and consequences, including loss of possessions and poor decision making. Staying hydrated is crucial to prevent dehydration and potentially dangerous drinking behaviors.

Excessive drinking can lead to reckless and regrettable behavior, even for those who consider themselves in control. The speaker shares a story from his past about a time he got blackout drunk and lost his expensive watch. Despite his initial efforts to find it, he eventually gave up and continued his night of drinking. The next day, he discovered the watch was still in the box at his parents' house, where he had brought it to show them. The incident serves as a reminder of the potential consequences of drunkenness and the importance of being responsible with one's possessions and actions. Additionally, the speaker mentions a friend's story of waking up in the middle of the night and drinking a warm can of beer due to dehydration, highlighting the importance of staying hydrated while drinking.

    • Cleaning up after a night of drinkingTaking responsibility for one's actions, even while intoxicated, can lead to a more enjoyable and less chaotic experience.

Cleaning up after a night of drinking can help lessen the severity of a hangover. The speaker shares an experience of waking up in a messy house after a house party and choosing to clean up while still intoxicated. This not only makes the house presentable for the morning but also helps in sobering up and dividing the hangover. The speaker also mentions an aversion to hickeys and finds it unprofessional in a customer service role. Despite the speaker's unique perspective on cleaning and hickeys, the overall message is that taking responsibility for one's actions, even when under the influence, can lead to a more enjoyable and less chaotic experience.

    • Shaping experiences through relationships and technologyTeenage experiences, whether embarrassing or not, can significantly impact our lives. Respecting boundaries in sharing content online is crucial.

People, even in their teenage years, can have unique and memorable experiences, some of which may be embarrassing or sad, but shape their lives in unexpected ways. The speaker shared a story from his past about witnessing a couple giving each other "love bites" in a dark garage, an experience that left a lasting impression on him. He also mentioned his first encounter with social media and the potential consequences of oversharing. Zoe Sugg, a popular celebrity and podcast listener, called in to discuss her own experiences with social media and the importance of respecting boundaries in sharing content online. Overall, the conversation highlighted the impact of relationships, both romantic and platonic, and the role of technology in shaping our experiences.

    • Respecting boundaries in online sharingBe mindful of what you share online and respect others' privacy. Consider the potential impact on your audience before posting and avoid sharing inappropriate or offensive content.

While sharing personal experiences and moments online can bring entertainment and connection, it's important to respect each other's boundaries and keep some things private. The couple in question, despite their openness and humor, have vetoed certain topics and experiences from being shared publicly. They also emphasized the importance of considering the potential impact on their large following before posting. Additionally, they warned against sharing inappropriate or offensive content, such as the infamous toenail jar picture. Overall, they encouraged a balance between transparency and discretion in their online presence.

    • Social media: A double-edged swordSocial media can bring joy and connection, but also stress and overuse. Find a balance to enhance your life.

Social media plays a significant role in the lives of many individuals, serving as an outlet for sharing experiences and connecting with others. However, it can also be a source of stress and overuse, leading some people to set boundaries or even make it part of their job. A memorable moment between two people may be kept private despite its humor, and the use of social media platforms like Instagram can provide a platform for promotion and interaction with fans. Ultimately, it's important to find a balance and use social media in a way that enhances one's life rather than detracting from it.

2758 How to Calm the Nerves You Can't See

2758 How to Calm the Nerves You Can't See

Kids get nervous just as much as adults. But the way it shows varies. Learn how to calm the nerves you can't see and watch your kids soar.

Who would have thought that by becoming a parent, you would become a private detective?

Desire to be supported and encouraged by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACT. http://bit.ly/WomenofIMPACT

What you see is not always what you get. Our children like to be seen and heard, but in the form and fashion that they dream up.

Very few desire for you to see them in their weakness. And being nervous and anxious to them is a weakness.

Now, this can show up at many different ages and stages. The key is knowing what your child is feeling and hiding before they share it by usually you prodding and getting in their business.

And who wants to be that parent?

    Not you or me!

But let's be real. Growing up in today's world is challenging. There are so many areas in life that cause stress; family, school, community, church, and neighborhood.

The dynamics can be overwhelming and debilitating to the degree of causing anxiety.

Children experience a wide range of emotions, some of which will include stress. But when you know how to cope with your anxiety or stress or nerves, you and your child can soar.

So when you want to teach your child how to calm the nerves you can't see, build a coping toolbox.

    The K.I.S.S. ~ Build a coping toolbox!

    1. BALLOON BREATHING. Have your child pretend they are going to blow up a balloon. Pick a color. Now, slowing blow into the balloon, but not too fast or too slow. Just right is what you want. Count to 5, encouraging them to inhale and then exhale into the balloon. Repeat this three times. When the balloon is inflated, mentally write the problem on the balloon and let it go.
    2. BOSS the worries away. This is where your child is empowered by self-talk; learning how to reframe their thoughts.
      • State what the nerves or worry is all about.
      • Why do you think of it this way?
      • Think of something opposite and positive.
      • Boss back (and do so in a mirror if possible)
    3. WRITE it down, TEAR it up. Or you can draw it and tear it up. When they write down what makes them anxious and nervous, and then tear it up, your child gets to throw away what is bothering them for a moment. This helps teach your child that you can control your feelings and overcome what you can't see.

And if all else fails, you can hug it out! Every child needs a hug from their mom.

CHALLENGE: Watch your child and be present so you can see the changes even when your child can't. It's getting in front of the feelings before the feelings take over.

CAUTION: You might make a mistake and think it's one thing when it really is something else. No problem. Live, learn, and move on.

CELEBRATE: As your child experiments with the toolbox, be sure to celebrate the little things.

Just because your child has nerves doesn't mean you need to. Take a deep breath, write your worry on a balloon, and let it go.

    Keep walking in your greatness!

"Be present. Be incredible. Be YOU!!!"

Why You Should Own the Mental Health of Your Children with Jason Reid

Why You Should Own the Mental Health of Your Children with Jason Reid

Jason Reid is a successful businessman, coach for CEOs, and founder of over 20 businesses. He is also the founder of the Tell My Story foundation, a nonprofit organization aimed at educating and empowering parents to support their children's mental health struggles.

In today's episode, Jason Reid bravely shared the devastating story of losing his 14-year-old son to suicide in 2018. This tragic event has shaped Jason's mission: to eradicate teenage suicide by 2030. He is arming parents with the necessary skills to become better communicators, listeners, and leaders for their children.

According to recent CDC data, teenage suicide is now the second leading cause of death for teenagers in the United States, with the pandemic and increased cell phone usage contributing to the surge in mental health issues among the youth. These concerning statistics emphasize the urgency of addressing the mental health of our children.

Jason stressed the importance of active listening and creating a safe space for children to express their feelings freely. He pointed out that often, in our attempts to console our kids, we may unintentionally dismiss their feelings, which could have harmful consequences. Recognizing the difference between occasional sadness and persistent symptoms of depression or anxiety is vital.

Interestingly, Jason's passion for music and his guitars, symbolizes the need to have personal interests, acting as a reminder that life isn't solely about the hardships but also about the joys that make it worth living.

In this urgent fight against teenage suicide, we, as parents, can make a difference by providing support, fostering open conversations about mental health, and teaching our kids to navigate through life's challenges. Through Jason's heartrending story, let's take action to protect our children and their mental well-being.
