    About this Episode

    Welcome back familia!

This week we dive deep into the topic of coparenting. The struggles, the patience needed, the communication. There are so many different aspects that come into play when two people decide not to be together but still have to come together to help raise a child. Unfortunately, coparenting has a bad reputation (for good reason), but the older we get, the more we have to learn to grow and make unwanted situations work to better our kids future.

Also, we are currently taking any suggestions for any future guest appearances on the show. So if you feel like you or someone you know may be a good fit, HIT US UP!

    Welcome back familia!!

This week we discuss some changes that are being made in our lives and also on the show. We have a lot of new ideas brewing and we want to keep you guys in the loop as much as possible.

We also discuss the new adult purchase Dali recently made that has all of us feeling like we've finally made it in life. It's funny how one basic Amazon buy as an adult can change our whole mood and outlook on life. It's the little things that mean the most sometimes.

EP 88: Parenting a parent, the power of repetition, and finding the time.

Welcome back familia! It's your two favorite girls, Dali and JQ.

This week we dive deep into the topic of parenting, but not just any type of parenting. We discuss the pros and cons of reverse parenting. Reverse parenting occurs when the normal parent-child roles are reversed. the The parent looks to the child for nurture, protection and affirmation, and the child, either consciously or unconsciously, sacrifices his or her needs to provide for the needs of the parent.

During our grown folk business, we discuss the importance of repetition. Repeating good habits and healthy mindsets.

EP 87: "ARE WE OVERSHARING ON SOCIAL MEDIA? WHERE DO WE DRAW THE LINE?"

Welcome back familia to another episode!

This week we dive deep into the conversation of social media and how easy it is to over share nowadays. It’s easy to find a community online and want to connect and share with others, but how much is too much? It can easily become difficult to find a balance between vulnerability and privacy, and a lot of us realize that after it’s too late. There is beauty in mystery but also in sharing. How can we find the balance between the two?

For our grown folk business this week, Dali and JQ discuss The importance of April being Sexual Assault Awareness Month. If you or someone you know Is or has dealt with sexual assault, please know it is ok to ask for help. Nobody should have to deal with a bad situation on their own, no matter how grown we are.
April is also National Poetry Month. We want to bring awareness to all of the talented writers out there as well. And we ask that you try digging deep and expressing yourself on paper. Poetry can be a beautiful form of therapy. Give it a try.

EP 86: "IS CELIBACY THE NEW TREND?"

EP 86: "IS CELIBACY THE NEW TREND?"

    Welcome back AWAY family!

This week we dive into the topic of celibacy. We've been hearing more and more of our single adult friends choosing to stay celibate and honestly, it doesn't seem like a bad idea.  We are grown now, and sometimes we have to force ourselves to make grown decisions on and what kind of energy we allow into our lives. Celibacy can be a healthy way to determine that for us. Even though this seems like a very difficult lifestyle to lead, it can be very rewarding. For most people, it is an empowering experience and that is why it is slowly becoming a new trend in our society. More and more people are choosing to hold off on sex to focus on themselves more. Would you be able to do it? If you are someone who has practiced celibacy before, we'd love to hear about your experience in the comments below.

Grown folk this week is a great time. JQ and Dali decided to go out before recording this episode so they start off the show with very hyped up attitudes, to say the least.

EP 85: "HEALING CAN BE WEIRD. PARENTING IS HARD. AND LET'S BE REAL, WOULD YOU MARRY YOU?

    Welcome back adult family!

Thank you for joining us on another episode Are We Adulting Yet. This week we dive deep into marriage. However, this isn't your average marriage talk. Instead of discussing a relationship with another person, we decided to ask each other if we would marry ourselves. It's so easy to grow up and form relationships with others to see if they are marriage material. But do we ever ask ourselves if we would be a good person to marry? Do we believe we possess the qualities we wish to find in a husband or wife? Even if you are already married, this is a good question to continue to ask yourself to cultivate and keep healthy relationships growing. There is beauty in being able to reflect on your behaviors and habits as we grown. Is this something we should focus more on as we get older? Let us know in the comments below.

For our grown folk segment, Dali discusses her healing journey and how messy it is becoming for her. Healing ourselves as we get older isn't always just bubble baths and face masks. It can become very messy and scary when we have to face our traumas, and Dali is experiencing this now more than ever. Jackie talks about her struggles with balancing her everyday life. Parenting is hard and it's a lot easier than one may think to lose yourself while trying to juggle so many tasks with children. It helps to talk about it.

EP 84: "JACKIE & DALI DEBATE ON IF THE WORLD IS GETTING BETTER OR WORSE. ALSO, LOTS OF OTHER CONVOS FROM HOMELESSNESS, TO WAR, ALL THE WAY TO COFFEE"

    Welcome back AWAY family!

This week we dive deep into a few different conversations. The main topic though is if we believe the world is getting better or worse. Or could it just be that because we are getting older, the more life we are experiencing and that is making it seem as if our surroundings are worsening.  Could the media play a role into our perspective of the way the world is?

Throughout the episode, we also touch on deep interesting topics such as homelessness, drug addiction, war, racism, the environment, and coffee. Like we said, this week we're having multiple different conversations. When we sit. down to think and analyze the world to form an opinion on whether or not the world is getting better or worse, it's easy to get into so many aspects the world has to offer us. We feel like it's important to explore and discuss all of these aspects constantly. Is there a viewpoint you have on life that you believe is getting better or getting worse?

Also, Dali has some exciting news she has decided to share with us!

EP 83: "DOES APPEARANCE MATTER IN OUR ADULT LIFE? SHOULD WE STRIVE FOR GOOD LOOKS OR CONFIDENCE? WHY CAN'T REAL LIFE BE LIKE FESTIVAL LIFE?"

    Welcome back fam!

This week we dive deep into the topic of appearance and how important it is for us as adults to look good in our society.

By now, it's pretty known that if you look good then you probably feel good (to an extent). However, it seems like the older we get the more we begin to, unknowingly, over obsess with our appearance. It becomes the forefront of our society and it's easy to get lost in trying to look good for other people. This is not to say that it's bad to want to look great. After all, studies have shown that the better you present yourself, the more likely you are to land better jobs, better looking partners, and better opportunities in life.

But we all know appearance eventually fades, and the older we get we tend to look for deeper meaning within ourselves and others. So does appearance really matter? Or does our perception of appearance simply change over time?

We also share our recent music festival experience and shed a little tear or two because real life is just not the same.

EP 82: The stigma around not having kids, not wanting kids, and the pressures of being a good parent.

    Welcome back fam!

This week we dive deep into a topic that we're sure many of us have had to deal with. It seems like the older we get, the societal pressures of finding a mate, getting married, and having kids becomes greater and greater. Especially the having kids part. And if you're a women, the pressure is instantly doubled.

The is instantly a stigma around adults who choose not to have kids. We are told we are allowed to make our own decisions when we become older, however, when it comes to our reproductive decisions our decisions are judged, warped and looked down upon at times.

Have you ever felt the weight of everyone else's opinion on your life? If you have, it's totally normal. But that doesn't make it right.

EP 81: Vulnerability with Men in our Society (Ft. Jose Quinones)

    Welcome back fam!

This week we dive deep with a very special guest on a topic that, we believe, is not talked about enough.

We have Jose,  host of the You Mean Now Podcast and our brother, join us to discuss the difficulties with men expressing their vulnerability in today's society. It seems like the older we get, the more closed off we become to our emotions. Why is it so difficult to become so exposed? Are women ready for men to be more vulnerable? Is society ready for it?

It's always great to hear the perspective of others to gain more awareness and understanding. These are the type of conversations we want to continue having in our adult life to achieve growth.

A big shoutout to our guest today! We loved having him on the show.
