Ep47 SoA - Technically Speaking - What kind of Music are balloons scared of? Pop Music

    About this Episode

Have you ever wondered how to apply God's word in the work place?

What about when times get difficult; how does the Bible address our hard work?

We talk about doing all things for the glory of God. 1 Cor. 10:31 - 33 and Col. 3:23

Don't worry my friends, the rest of the episode just comes off the rails. We wanted to talk about soundboard problems (kinda like troubleshooting) but ended up talking more about a change of perspective or in better words techspective.

How reliant on sound tech, post-COVID, have we stayed?

There was plenty of nonsense as well. We tackle some important issues like #kidmetalhead #disneylistenstoourpodcast #wolvesatthegate #keepingthingsPG
    #prayeroverjob #nochurchhats #uselessnews #heavenlykissing #comparing
    #nontransactionalvstransactional #whatarewefocusingon #techflexing #getwreckedbyGodwhileatwork #allinspanishistodo #amissedcue

We hope you enjoy this episode. We are so glad that you are here and joining in on the conversation. Thanks for being part of our musings, let's hope you can find some form of intelligence amidst two muddy puddles.

Ep59 SoA - A Changing of the Seasons

After many piles of hate mail and angry emails, we are finally going to start doing what we've always done......continue to post randomly timed episodes that have no real rhythm about them. This way we never have a consistent way of growing our listener.

For reals tho, We are shifting gears and planning for the future. This is not farewell for the Sons of Asaph, this is "see you soon". With new content, new plans, more voices, and most importantly, we're getting down to the nitty gritty with all of our friends in the worship leader world. We're taking the podcast to the streets to include YOU! Our listener. We already have a large list of guests and it will keep growing as we make more connections. We'll have a central TOPIC for the season we're in. But we will have loads of new perspectives and will always work to serve this up to all those who are involved in worship or even just love worship,.

Thank you so much for joining in the conversations. We hope that we can continue to fill up a space of time in your life that you may question how we were successful in chewing up some of your precious time. Don't worry tho, we will always strive to burn up your time ....... but wait....there's more..... we have the same banter and nuggets of wisdom to share with you as well.

So put your hands together for some good amounts of prayer.

    We Will See You Soon!

    Ep58 SoA - Be Authentic! B-E! Authentic!

    Ep58 SoA - Be Authentic! B-E! Authentic!

Today on this episode we delve deep into the heart of worship leadership, exploring the transformative journey from imitation to authenticity. Eric and Adam don't tread lightly as they have a thoughtful conversation about the significance of being original and genuine in the worship, free from the constraints of mimicking or copying others.

We don't claim to be seasoned worship leaders but we've been around a while and would like to share our personal stories and insights on the path to discovering our unique voices in worship. We uncover the challenges we've faced and the lessons learned while resisting the temptation to replicate someone else's worship experience.

Authenticity in worship leadership isn’t just about singing original songs or creating innovative melodies; it’s about embracing one’s true self and connecting with the Spirit on an intimate level. We share practical tips and strategies for worship leaders and musicians to nurture their creativity, develop their unique styles, and lead congregations in a way that is both authentic and spiritually enriching.

Tune in to hear some empowering anecdotes that we hope will resonate with worship leaders, musicians, and anyone seeking a deeper, more genuine connection with their spirituality. Whether you’re a worship leader, a member of a worship team, or simply someone passionate about worship, this episode will inspire you to embrace your originality, celebrate your uniqueness, and lead worship in a way that is truly authentic.

Thanks for joining in on the conversation. There are plenty of lame Dad jokes, and puns, and our random useless banter. But all in all we hope that you can find some sense of sensibility from the two senile doofuses.

    Thanks and Blessings

Ep57 SoA - AI Q&A - It Asks, We Answer

Ep57 SoA - AI Q&A - It Asks, We Answer

I Double Dog Dare You Not To Smile While Listening To This Episode
If you are used to the stuff from our regular episodes then this probably won't surprise you.

If you're new here, might I suggest starting out with a different episode to get to know us better before we completely ruin our chances.

We really put our trust in the wrong thing and ended up answering some wild questions.

You can thank AI for all the crazy questions.

We didn't have a specific topic but I think the lesson is not to count on AI to provide relevant or for that matter reverent material.

We started this episode completely off the rails and just continued to wander aimlessly for the better part of an hour.

It's definitely worth a listening especially if you're in the mood to laugh at our stupidity.

We hope you enjoy this episode. And thanks for joining in on the conversation.

We still hope that you might find some kind of value in this circus of monkey's.

Ep56 SoA - Real Worship or Just Polished Bronze?

Ep56 SoA - Real Worship or Just Polished Bronze?

As my kids would say "remember back in the old'en days." and then I would proceed to ground them from something for swearing like that.

For reals tho, it's like the old days when Sean and I would spend an hour picking on each other. We really do need Eric to keep the peace.

This one we take a good look at ourselves and what we bring to the alter in worship. Is it our most precious gold or just polished bronze

There's plenty of shenanigans to go around. I just don't have my notes so I can only assure you.

We hope you enjoy this episode. Make sure to tell a friend or two so we can take up some of their precious time. And give us a review so that more people can find us.

Thanks for joining the conversation. We hope in this barrel of monkeys you find a bunch of wisdom morsels. Or at least one or two take-outs? Take-ins? Takis? Take-aways, that's it!

Ep55 SoA - How Much Should You Charge For Serving?

Ep55 SoA - How Much Should You Charge For Serving?

I'm sure that even just reading that title makes your skin crawl. We are confident that we're going to get a mixed bag of reactions. But don't worry, we pick on ourselves and our own experiences in charging for serving (cringe).

As leaders, whether you are just serving in your home church or helping out somewhere else, it's important to keep the right kind of heart about serving. That way the rest is a blessing.

I think an important note to make here is the effort made in proving our own innocence in charging a church when we serve and also how humble we all are. This topic tends to take some serious jabs at our pride, as it should.

Thanks for joining in on the conversation. We hope that you enjoy our point-of-view and we are keeping our fingers crossed that you will find some kind of knowledge within the three uh-ego's, better three stooges; and we won't even charge you for it.

Ep54 SoA - When Ministry Gives You A Curveball...

Ep54 SoA - When Ministry Gives You A Curveball...

It's not too uncommon for something to come out of left field when it comes to planning for the best Sunday ever (or whatever day cuz Jesus is every day).

How do you overcome the challenges?

If you're down a leader or maybe some equipment isn't working, someone got a creative bug and wants it today, or just not feeling it today?

The enemy loves to make things difficult.

But we worship a big God that is much "bigger than the boogie man" - quote Veggie Tales

We go into a lot of the ways that we have all experienced a curveball in ministry.

And we cover some important subjects like F1 Racing, a continued terrible intro, most best mediocrity, and many other random usefully useless musings.

Thanks for joining in on the conversation, we hope that you can find a small sense of sanity amidst the silly.

Ep53 SoA - Having a VISION is Essential, WITHOUT it Your Are Just BLIND Leading The BLIND

Ep53 SoA - Having a VISION is Essential, WITHOUT it Your Are Just BLIND Leading The BLIND

Philippians 2:2 "One Heart and Mind"

We wrapped our vision topic this week. And got a chance to really dive deep into the need for VISION in every sort of organization whether that's a church, or business, or cause, without a VISION you are just Blind leading the Blind.

But it's also not quite that serious because we're a bunch of immature dudes hosting. Not only do we discuss Philippians tutu as well as other tutus found in the bible (it's a thing, check it out for yourself), but we also talk about #DCTalkisBack #ChineseStarBibles #ExpectingGod #BurritoJohnGuerra #BibleTutus #ExcitedExcitement #IfYou'reHappyTellYourFace

Thanks for joining in the conversation. We hope that you enjoy this episode and we also hope that somewhere in the mixed bag of missing marbles you might find a morsel of mentoring mental magic.

Ep52 SoA - It's Worship Team DRAFT Season. Are you a 1st Round, 2nd Round, or Free Agent?

Being that we recently brought in a new voice (Eric Munoz) to the podcast, we decided while he was away that we would do a little Worship Team Draft.

Don't worry, you're not getting replaced.

This was a fun talk about how we each would build up our worship teams, who would be our draft picks, and how our team culture would create a winning season and possibly take us to the super bowl of worship (Hillsong?).

    It's a joke.....calm down.

No, but seriously, This episode was really fun. It's interesting to find the differences between Sean and Adam and how they would pick their individual teams.

Thanks for joining in on the conversation and we hope you enjoy this episode.

    Ep51 SoA - I Can See, It's A Miracle - FernGully

    Happy Belated 50th Episodiversary!

I know, I know..... it's on the 51st episode but we missed mentioning it in the last one.

We start falling off the rails right at the front of this episode but it's okay cuz we have Eric back again and he seems to help ......... perpetuate the problem. We really should get someone in here to keep us in line.

Habakkuk 2:2 is our bible verse. We talk about Habakkuk's tutu. The focus of the verse is about vision. And we carry on with this verse and talk about  Vision vs. Mission.

You can have "BOTH", but without "ONE" you will have neither.

We need your help with this age old question: Is it pronounced Neither & Either or Neither & Either?

Our worship burrito is NF's brand new album release titled "HOPE", and Project86 released Part 1 of their "Omni" final album.

There's a ton to this episode but don't worry, it continues to fall apart all along the way. Some of the stuffs we also go over is #restingneedtherapyface #piratesfavoriteletter #bibleflexing #neuralplasticity #addressingoneanother #directionhaving #underwhelming #miclivesmatter

Thanks for joining in on the conversation. We are glad you are here. We hope that somewhere in our myriad of madness you might find a tiny morsel of  mindfulness.

Ep50 SoA - Sound Geek Speak - The Eric Munoz Audition - Why Was The Sound Tech Fired......... He Couldn't Handle Any Feedback!!!

Ep50 SoA - Sound Geek Speak - The Eric Munoz Audition - Why Was The Sound Tech Fired......... He Couldn't Handle Any Feedback!!!

Psalm 100:1-5 was the text we used now for the last few episodes. We actually didn't do this on purpose but it worked out this way. Or we lack any sense of creativity and variety with our bible verse usage.

But this episode was full of fun. We are wrapping up our Sound Tech Series with an interview turned audition with our good friend Eric Munoz.

If you want to feel like you know absolutely nothing about soundboards just invite this guy on to talk about sound teams; I now  know I don't have a clue about soundboards.

But that's why I keep Eric's number on speed dial.

We recorded this episode in Eric's living room while enjoying  fresh coffee and pastries courtesy of doordash (aka Eric's wife).

But don't worry it wasn't all about too much brainy sound team stuffs. When it comes to Sean and Adam, brainy doesn't actually exist. We had a ton of fun talking about how Eric serves into many ministries and got some real solid gold advice about sound team setup.

We also talked about being picked last, who's humbler, favorite button is mute, festival patches, making your bed (music bed), no call backs, un-fathered, checking your ego cuz you're not special, dummy fader, sound tech is a form of worship, and so many more mic drop moments. We think Eric might stick around for a while hopefully to continue to embarrass us.

We're glad you could join in on the conversation  and thanks for sticking with us through such a lengthy audition process. We also hope that amidst all of the laughter, sips of coffee, crunches of pastries, and really terrible dad jokes you might find some sense of sanity and glean from us at least one or two important things.

    Thanks and Blessings...
