    About this Episode

C.S. Lewis once wrote an essay entitled "Men without Chests."  By that he meant that men were being raised in his country of Britain without convictions, without heart, and without affections or values.  We find ourselves in a similar situation today, particularly in the United States where masculinity is under attack and is quickly acquiesced whenever challenged.  In this previously spoken sermon released for the first time as a podcast series here, I speak to men about manhood.  First listen to Part 1, then listen to Part 2 here, followed by the final Part 3-- and share them with other men aspiring to become Men "with" Chests.

One of the most commonly-used forms of instruction in academic classrooms is the lecture.  Loved by some, hated by others, it's been a part of the educator's toolbox for hundreds of years, and that isn't likely to change soon.

And, for that matter, there is nothing wrong with lecturing-- particularly if one is a good lecturer and assuming it's not overused to the point that learners disengage from the educational process.

So whether a professor uses lecture seldomly or frequently, when he or she does-- it is important that the lecture is educationally potent and pedagogically powerful.  To achieve that, listen to this podcast episode and learn more about the secrets of better lecturing, in hopes that you will connect with the elusive "teaching moment"-- where students are forever changed by the impact of an effective teacher.
