    Episode #44 The Unionist

    Episode #44 The Unionist

If you're bored on watch, this is the episode for you! A meandering conversation with a blue collar guy from Philly. Why does pop country music suck so bad? What do you say to a chick that doesn't believe in outer space? Did Nelson Mandela die in prison? We also talk about the beauty of the Rocky movies, boxing, the Great Depression and what people did to survive during hard times. Old films, Marilyn Monroe, and a second hand story about meeting Frank Sinatra in a club called Jilly's.

This episode is dedicated to the crew of the President Wilson who are stuck in a Chinese shipyard due to the lock downs.

    Episode #43 The Walkabout Seaman

The Walkabout Seaman is an energetic, pugnacious, Englishman who grew up in the circus. With a cauliflower ear and a heart of gold, he shares with us his experiences living and scraping by in Spain as a cook, planting trees in the Golan Heights of Israel, hitchhiking to Haifa, cooking for the British Army, finding and losing a wife while working on yachts in Florida, and going to work on a U.S. flag cruise ship in Hawaii. Cheers!

We also talk about the squid people of Asia, wonder why fisherman enjoy flirting with getting run over by ships, and the Jones Act.

    Episode #39 The Burmese Cowboy

A young woman shot in the streets, a general's son dropping money from a balcony, and one persecuted Burmese sailor. I sit down with The Burmese Cowboy to get the real scoop on what's going down in Myanmar. It is a crazy situation that is hard for most people in the West to wrap our minds around. He was once persecuted by a military dictatorship and has valuable insight to the current struggles in Myanmar.

    Episode #37 Special K

    Episode #37 Special K

This episode is dedicated to all the seafarers who won't be home for Christmas or Hanukkah.

In this Christmas edition Special K tells us about the time Russians showed up to a family party and taught them to swallow lard and drink vodka. Turns out these Russians were from a nearby salvage tug in Baltimore harbor. What did Soviets drink onboard this tug in the 80's? I'll give you a hint, it's not water. Special K has a big heart and shares his experience adopting a family during Christmas time to help the less fortunate. He also talks about getting shot in the knee, German beer, model ship building, Australia, and Jojo Siwa.

I apologize for the sub par audio. I tried a new method of recording and it didn't go well. Never the less, I enjoyed sharing some beers and conversation with an old friend.

The books that were mentioned regarding model ship building were:

"Ship Models How To Build Them" Charles S. Davis

    "Ship Model Building" Gene Johnson

"Ship Modeling From Scratch" Edwin B. Leaf

    Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah!

    Episode #36 Ted

    Episode #36 Ted

Just last year, Ted stared into the eyes of a young Filipino sailor as he attempted to pull him to safety on the gangway of a ship in the middle of the Pacific Ocean.  Ted did not succeed in saving that young Filipino sailors life, but he has some advice for those who may be in a similar situation some day. Ted has a checkered past with some very shocking things to share. He once fled the U.S. to Brazil to escape a legal situation. He lived there for several years before coming back to the States to face the music. While he was in prison he once shared a cell with a famous necrophiliac cerial killer, found God, and saved a young man from getting raped. Sounds like a book right? Don't worry, he is writing one.
