Episode 30: The Out of Sync Child: Sensory Processing Disorder with Carol Kranowitz

Episode 30: The Out of Sync Child: Sensory Processing Disorder with Carol Kranowitz

Many parents are struggling to understand the sensory needs of their child and how to help them. They may or may not have received a diagnosis of Sensory Processing Disorder. Often times, this diagnosis comes along with other diagnosis of Autism, ADHD and/or Learning Disabilities.

On this week's episode, I have Carol Kranowitz, the author of the groundbreaking book that explains Sensory Processing Differences (SPD).

As a music, movement, and drama teacher for 25 years, Carol observed many out-of-sync preschoolers. To help them become more competent in their work and play, she began to study sensory processing and sensory integration (“SI”) theory. She learned to help identify her young students’ needs and to steer them into early intervention. In her writings and workshops, she explains to parents, educators, and other early childhood professionals how sensory issues play out – and provides enjoyable sensory-motor techniques for addressing them at home and school. Carol is best-known for her first book in the “Sync” series, The Out-of-Sync Child. Edition 3.

Carol graduated from Barnard College of Columbia University and earned her master’s degree in Education and Human Development from The George Washington University.

She is a board member of the STAR Institute for Sensory Processing Disorder

Episode 26: How a resilient Mom recovered her son from ADHD, Naturally

Episode 26: How a resilient Mom recovered her son from ADHD, Naturally

Welcome to Season 2 of the Helping Children Thrive Podcast.

Since airing season 1, I have taken the decision to focus my practice towards serving families of children who are either diagnosed or suspected of ADHD. Keeping in view of this shift, in this new season, I will talk about and investigate various themes in a functional, biomedical approach to ADHD.

The first episode of this season interviews a resilient mom who helped her son with ADHD reverse all his signs and symptoms using a natural approach after medication failed them. I want this to be a source of hope for all the listeners!

Dana Kay, author of the upcoming book Thrive with ADHD and the creator of the ADHD Thrive Method 4 Kids program. She's also a Board-Certified Holistic Health Practitioner. Dana has a son with ADHD which encouraged her to help parents with ADHD children as well. Dana's goal is to help families struggling with the same issue as hers through implementing a holistic and all-natural family approach to health and wellness.

Join me and Dana in this episode and learn more about Dana's mission and story!
