Episode 9 - Getting Out the Vote with Sarah Sonies

After a long break, Faith and Anthony are joined by their partners Ashley Jaye Williams (Anth's wife) and Keith Doyle (Faith's fiancé) for a fun recap of the many life changes they've experienced during the pandemic including engagements, marriage, house buying, wedding planning, moving states, plans for having children, and their creative outlets plus mental health approaches. They leave no stone unturned, including ultimately convincing Faith to get a dog and Anthony and Ashley to move to PGH (hehe).

In early May, Faith and Anthony chatted with Faith's childhood friend Lauren West-Livingston about first dates. Specifically, Lauren shares her rather "bad" first date with her now partner and co-parent Donovan, and how they went from almost never speaking again to growing their family nearly a decade later. The group talks ways to determine if a bad date = game over, suggestions for first dates, experiences with their partners after their first few dates, and quarantine dating advice.

Faith and Anthony interview Joey Bailey and return guest Ashley Blue for their first Zoom episode during quar (self isolation/stay at home). Anthony, Ashley and Joey are members of the band Ice Cream Quarantine, and they discuss their first performances, including Faith's first time doing stand up. The group shares lessons learned, performance prep, and their plans for the future. The Dew Drop Inn open mic in early March was most of their first performances, and it holds a special place in their hearts <3.

Faith and Anthony sit down with their friends and photographers, Ashley Blue and Crystal Borde. They answer questions about their experiences, technical elements, important societal elements involved with being a photographer, the subjectivity of photos, and lessons learned along the way. The gang closes out with their general "shit they never told you", including Faith divulging her experiences on the Adam Carolla Show - a mortifying first call and advice from the hosts that she refers to for inspiration.

Faith and Anthony go guest-less for a fun conversation about moving in with your significant other. They discuss when and why they decided to take that "next step" in their relationships, the apartment search process, how they stay sane living with their partner, pet peeves, mutual interests, and more. Faith and Anthony interview the delightful Sofija Jovik, volunteer with the DC Abortion Fund, a nonprofit that makes grants to pregnant people in the DC area who cannot afford the full cost of an abortion. We discuss the cost of abortion, how the fund functions and works with clinics and other funds like the National Abortion Federation, and why Sofija became involved. The group touches on state-specific legislation designed to deny access to abortion care and the new Supreme Court order, undue burden, pregnancy timelines, Romania and China's reproductive restrictions, our country’s failure to set up women to excel when it comes to reproduction, and the correlation between access to sex education and contraceptives and the lowering abortion rates. Faith and Sofija have a great time interviewing Anthony on his “male perspective” then the group closes out with their latest “shit they were never told.”

Anthony and Faith sit down with Mary and Shelly from the Latter Day Lesbian Podcast, and the awesome Kevin Belanger, to discuss their experiences online dating as members of the lesbian and gay communities. From Shelly's journey as an ex-Mormon coming out of the closet and meeting Mary on Match.com, to Kevin's experiences online dating after his mom's success with eHarmony in 2005, the group laughs and chats about first dates, platform pros and cons, online dating as a safe space, advice for dating online, their "shit they never told you", general life advice, and much more!

Faith and Anthony sit down with friend of the pod and DC-based artist Ashley Jaye Williams to chat about the wild wild west of "digital influencers" and people of "influence". From preteens faking sponsorships to the disastrous Fyre Festival, the group leaves no stone unturned. They discuss influencers they follow and why, trends of "faking it" from our childhoods, Jameela Jamil vs. the Kardashians, Miley Cyrus on Black Mirror, Lindsay Lohan's attempted kidnapping, Britney Spears and the #FreeBritney movement, plus recent shit the group learned this summer.

Faith and Anthony sit down with Elaine de Leon and Joe LaCroix to discuss all things wedding planning. Elaine and Joe answer MANY questions including their spousal roles in the planning process, their wedding goals, the costliest element, their take on the wedding industrial complex, their favorite part of their wedding, and of course, shit they were never told but learned on their own. In Part 2 of our discussion with Jailbreak Brewing Co.'s Rob Fink, the group tastes his new beer while they chat about the evolution of beer styles and flavors, the power of marketing, the process for creating descriptions and label art, "thinking" vs. "drinking" beers, minority representation in the industry and proactive ways to make it more inclusive, and awesome podcasts to follow. After a couple hours of sipping, Rob share his "shit they never told him" about being a brewer.
