    The Sovereignty of God

    The Sovereignty of God

In this jam-packed episode, I'm joined once again by Andrew from the Ministry Misfits to help me wrap up the book! That's right, the end of the text has come and boy howdy do we have a lot to cover.

Throughout the whole book we've been working our way to this moment in history where the Jewish people would have to defend themselves against their enemies and we are here now. We are going to cover what can be a potentially uncomfortable section of scripture when we look at the realities of what needed to happen. We are going to be covering why it's vitally important NOT to over read ourselves, present day or anything else into the text outside of the time and context of this moment in history.

From there we're discussing somewhat of a recap of the big picture of the book of Esther, how we got to this point and how we can clearly see God at work in this entire book. We'll also be covering the sovereignty of God but maybe not from the way that you've heard it before.

We are also covering the importance of understanding the roots of the Christian faith and how Christianity will always be inherently tied to the Jewish faith and why it's important for us to understand that history when engaging with the scriptures.

    Esther Saves the Jews

    Esther Saves the Jews

We're with our coverage of the book of Esther. This week we're jumping into chapter 8 with the aftermath of the hanging of Haman. Esther makes her plea to the King to save the Jewish people. Mordecai is given a promotion within the royal court and both are given the authority to write a counter decree to solve the problem of Haman's original law.

    00:11 - 00:49
Speaker 1: Alright, what's up everybody? Welcome back. It's Buddy Walk with Jesus. As always, as we get started, We want you guys to know 2 very important things That you are prayed for and you are loved Deeply if you are in need of prayer do not hesitate to reach out prayer at buddy walk with Jesus calm or you can shoot the show a message on Facebook and I will be the 1 that responds there as well. So guys, happy new year.

    00:49 - 01:51
Speaker 1: You know we took last week off and the week before that was the Christmas sermon so it's been a couple of weeks since we've been into for such a time as this and guys I really hope that your holidays were good, that it was safe and blessed and peaceful, and that you were able to, if you are blessed with such things, spend time with family. If not, that at the very least you were able to spend time reflecting on God and spending time with God. And I'm not gonna do a whole episode on this talking about this, but this is your yearly reminder to do not Fall into the trap of making New Year's resolutions If you have changes to make make them make an action plan make actionable steps and move forward. Consult God. Years do not have personalities.

    01:51 - 02:52
Speaker 1: God does. Years do not have anthropomorphic traits. God does. So, not to sound like a cliche pastor here but don't fall into the trap of new year's resolutions, new year, new you, all of that kind of nonsense. I will link the full on episode, it's 1 of the few episodes that I'm like yeah that probably doesn't doesn't age too poorly back from the original days of buddy walk but we did a back when Edgar and I were doing this together we did a whole episode on New Year's resolutions and so but I am excited to jump back into Esther and keep the story going the last time that we had a conversation in Esther.

    02:53 - 03:46
Speaker 1: We had gone through Esther, chapter 7, and we had hit Haman's ironic ending. Ironic because he was hanged in the same spot as that he had prepared for Mordecai. And we saw the interference of Esther into the situation and went through all of that. And so now we are picking up with Esther chapter 8 starting at verse 1. On that day, King Ahasuerus gave to Queen Esther the house of Haman, the enemy of the Jews.

    03:47 - 05:14
Speaker 1: And Mordecai came before the king, for Esther had told what he was to her. And the king took off his signet ring, which he had taken from Haman and gave it to Mordecai, and Esther set Mordecai over the house of Haman. Then Esther spoke again to the king. She fell at his feet and wept and pleaded with him to avert the evil plan of Haman the Agagite, and the plot that he had devised against the Jews. When the king held out the golden scepter to Esther, Esther rose and stood before the king, and she said, If it please the king, and if I have found favor in his sight, and if the thing seems right before the king, and I am pleasing in his eyes, let an order be written to revoke the letters devised by him in the Agagite, the son of Hamadathah, which he wrote to destroy the Jews who are in all the provinces of the king.

    05:15 - 06:14
Speaker 1: For how can I bear to see the calamity that is coming to my people? Or how can I bear to see the
