Two more states, Maine and Colorado, have barred Donald Trump from their 2024 primary ballots due to his role in the January 6th Capitol attack, citing the 14th amendment's insurrection clause. This marks the second and third instances of a state taking such action in US history. Meanwhile, Nikki Haley, a Republican presidential candidate, faced backlash for her comments about the Civil War during a town hall in New Hampshire, where she failed to mention slavery as a cause of the war. Her response sparked criticism and calls for clarification. These developments come as the US Justice Department has threatened to sue Texas over a new immigration law and as Trump continues to appeal similar decisions in other states. These stories underscore the ongoing political tensions and debates in the US.

The political landscape continues to be shaped by controversial statements and legal battles. Nikki Haley, a leading Republican presidential candidate, faced criticism after acknowledging that the Civil War was about slavery. Meanwhile, the Justice Department threatened to sue Texas over a new immigration law, which gives local police and judges the authority to arrest and deport undocumented immigrants. In true crime news, Gipsy Rose Blanchard was released from prison after serving almost a decade for persuading her boyfriend to murder her abusive mother. And in response to increasing flood risks, more states are adopting stricter rules about disclosing flood risks to homebuyers. These events highlight the complex and evolving issues facing the country.

Climate change is leading to an increase in flood risks across the country, and new regulations aim to protect homebuyers from unexpected costs. Meanwhile, consumer safety is in the spotlight as BlendJet recalls nearly 5 million blenders due to fire hazards and laceration risks. On a brighter note, Dolly Parton made a terminally ill fan's wish come true by surprising him with a personal phone call and singing him a heartfelt rendition of "I Will Always Love You."
