Cauldrons hold a rich and significant place in various cultural traditions, extending beyond just the popular image of cheese fondue. These communal heating vessels, such as Chinese hot pot, have been used for centuries to bring people together and share meals. The pot itself becomes a focal point, symbolizing transformation and even divine intervention in some mythologies. While the fear of being dunked into a cauldron may be natural, it could also represent a chance for rebirth or transcendence. This concept is seen not only in ancient myths but also in modern media, such as the Friday 13th series, where characters may seemingly die but could potentially reappear in new forms.

This can be seen in the Star Wars franchise with the use of the bacta tank, and in Umberto Eco's The Name of the Rose with the murder victim found in a vat of pig's blood. This idea can also be applied to horror films, where a character may fall down the hierarchy of kill order but can potentially ascend. The cauldron, as a symbol, represents life, death, food, and transformation, as well as an instrument of murder.
