    • Grounded Confidence and Lessons from SetbacksBuilding confidence requires a realistic perspective, embracing limitations, and seeking external validation. Resilience and determination are developed through facing rejection and failure, shaping an individual's character and drive.

Confidence building should not be delusional, but grounded in reality. Gary Vee emphasizes the importance of not leading children to believe that they can be anything and everything without acknowledging the possibility of limitations or setbacks. He believes in living passionately and within one's means, even if it means making a modest income. Additionally, he highlights the significance of seeking positive reinforcement from sources outside of oneself. While Gary Vee's mother played a vital role in instilling confidence in him, he also attributes his resilience and determination to the experiences of facing rejection and failure. These experiences taught him valuable lessons and prepared him for success. Ultimately, it is the combination of positive reinforcement and the challenges of the market that shape an individual's character and drive.

    • The Importance of Self-Confidence and Building ResilienceSelf-confidence is formed through subjective evidence and positive reinforcement. It is crucial to focus on strengths and values, develop resilience, and not let moments of doubt define one's self-worth.

Ultimately, self-confidence is a complex interplay of personal experiences, belief systems, and how one treats others.

    • Perspective on Dealing with Negative CommentsFocusing on personal growth and not letting negative opinions bring us down is crucial, as there are bigger problems in life than getting upset over social media criticism.

There are bigger problems in life than getting upset over negative comments or criticism on social media. Gary Vee talks about how he deals with people taking shots at him and emphasizes that he would rather have eight billion people on social media call him a piece of shit than something terrible happening to his parents. This perspective helps him not get upset in a real way. Steven Bartlett also mentions that there are bigger problems and refers to the concept of wisdom years, which Gary Vee describes as the period between the ages of 20 to 30 where one should go all out, make mistakes, and try different things. He maximizes for retention of relationships rather than solely focusing on profit, which leads to a happier and more fulfilling life. Steven Bartlett also highlights the significance of self-awareness, stating that it is the foundation for growth and learning. Both speakers agree that reading and understanding oneself is more valuable than reading external sources. They encourage individuals to try new things, even if they may fail, and to ask themselves what they truly want in order to discover their passions and purpose. Additionally, they express the need to move away from tearing others down and instead unite as one team to create a more accepting and productive society.

    • Finding Meaning Beyond External AchievementsTrue happiness comes from within and prioritizing inner happiness over external achievements leads to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Finding fulfillment and meaning in external achievements, such as money, fame, and material possessions, is often misguided. Gary Vee emphasizes that while these things can provide temporary satisfaction, they ultimately lead to vulnerability and unhappiness if they are not balanced with personal contentment and peace of mind. Steven Bartlett acknowledges that many people, including himself, fall into the trap of seeking validation through external success, but it's important to recognize that true happiness comes from within. Instead of chasing materialistic goals, it is essential to focus on personal growth, self-acceptance, and cultivating a sense of peace and contentment. Ultimately, prioritizing inner happiness over external achievements leads to a more fulfilling and meaningful life.

Overall, the conversation emphasizes the transformative power of effective communication and the need to provide empowering and diverse content to young individuals.

    • The Impact of Early Experiences and the Power of PerceptionOur past does not determine our future; it is our interpretation of experiences and belief in our abilities that shape our lives. Taking responsibility and maintaining a positive perspective can lead to personal growth and success.

Our early experiences, particularly from the ages of zero to ten, can have a significant impact on our lives and beliefs. While these experiences may shape us, they do not define the direction we will take. The interpretation and perspective we choose to adopt play a crucial role in determining our future. It is possible for individuals who have been through challenging circumstances, such as growing up in a violent or financially unstable household, to become kind, successful, and productive individuals. The key lies in how we choose to learn from these experiences and how we perceive ourselves and our abilities. By accepting responsibility for our own lives and refusing to play the victim, we can overcome any challenges and create a better future.

    • Embracing competition, dark sides, and insecurity for personal growthGary Vee shows that embracing both winning and losing, as well as acknowledging and utilizing our own dark sides and insecurities, can lead to personal growth and self-improvement.

Everyone has their own dark side or areas of insecurity and vulnerability. It is natural for individuals to have different ways of dealing with competition and the fear of losing. Gary Vee, for example, admits to having an unhealthy level of competitiveness that can sometimes get dark. However, he also shares the insight that he enjoys losing and is able to bounce back, using it as an opportunity to improve and play again. This shows that it is possible for individuals to find value in both winning and losing, ultimately leading to personal growth and self-improvement. It is important to embrace and understand our own dark sides and insecurities, while also finding ways to use them as motivators for growth.

    • Redefining Success: Finding Fulfillment Beyond External MeasuresTrue self-worth comes from intrinsic motivation and genuine interactions, not external achievements. Focus on the process, not just the end result, and find fulfillment beyond traditional markers of success.

Winning and success are not the sole indicators of self-esteem or self-worth. Gary Vee shares that his addiction lies in the process and the game itself, rather than the end result. He reveals that his competitive nature is innate, not reinforced by external factors such as his upbringing. Furthermore, he expresses his excitement and determination when faced with a challenging situation, believing that willpower and strategic thinking can overcome talent. Gary Vee emphasizes that his professional achievements hold no weight in determining his true value as a person. Instead, his self-worth is derived from genuine interactions and how he treats others. This conversation highlights the importance of intrinsic motivation and finding fulfillment beyond external measures of success.

    • Balancing Communication and Prioritization for a Fulfilling Life.Over-communicate value to others, keep personal matters private, make time for family, distinguish between minor and significant regrets, invest in family relationships for a fulfilling life.

Communication and prioritization are crucial in maintaining a balanced personal and professional life. Gary Vee emphasizes the importance of over-communicating things that bring value to people while keeping personal matters private. He also acknowledges that there is a cost to everything, but it is essential to make time for family and personal activities. Although he admits to having regrets, he distinguishes between minor regrets and those that truly impact his happiness. He believes that real regret is limited to a small circle of people and emphasizes the significance of investing in family relationships. This conversation highlights the need for open communication and deliberate choices to create a fulfilling life.

    • Understanding Oneself and Prioritizing Personal Relationships for a Fulfilling Life.Know yourself, don't rely solely on others' judgments, prioritize personal relationships, cherish loved ones, and nurture meaningful connections for fulfillment and peace.

Understanding oneself and prioritizing personal relationships are crucial for a fulfilling life. Gary Vee highlights the importance of knowing oneself and not relying solely on others' judgments or advice. He shares how even his own mother, who knows him best, can still be wrong about certain things. This emphasizes the uniqueness of each individual and the need for self-awareness. Additionally, Gary Vee expresses his regret over not spending enough time with loved ones and emphasizes the value of cherishing these relationships. His fear of losing his parents at a young age shaped his perspective and drives him to make the most of his time with them. Ultimately, the key is to prioritize meaningful connections and nurture them for a sense of fulfillment and peace.

    • The Power of Parental InfluenceOur parents shape our values and perspectives, and their influence can have a profound impact on who we become as individuals. It is important to carry forward the positive traits we have inherited and make a difference in the world.

Our upbringing and the influence of our parents can have a profound impact on who we become as individuals. Both Gary Vee and Steven Bartlett share moments of emotional reflection when discussing their parents and the role they played in shaping their values and perspectives. Moment 177: You're NOT Lazy! This Is The REAL Reason You Procrastinate: The Performance Doctor

Moment 177: You're NOT Lazy! This Is The REAL Reason You Procrastinate: The Performance Doctor
According to Adam, procrastination is a natural part of the creative process, and rather than a method of avoiding hard work, it is a defence mechanism. Procrastination can be a method of protecting yourself against what you find to be psychologically challenging, or a way to avoid negative emotional feelings such as confusion, boredom, anxiety and fear. In order to beat procrastination, Adam says that you need to identify what negative emotions are stirred up by tasks that you consistently put off. Once you have identified these you can then change them by reframing them into a more interesting challenge. Moment 176: 5 RED FLAGS Of A Secret Narcissist: The Narcissism Doctor

Moment 176: 5 RED FLAGS Of A Secret Narcissist: The Narcissism Doctor
In this moment, clinical psychologist Dr. Ramani Durvasula discusses the characteristics of narcissistic individuals and how to recognise if you are in a narcissistic relationship. According to Dr. Ramani, narcissists are typically entitled, self-centred, lack empathy, and are highly socially perceptive. Early in a relationship, they can be attentive and say all the right things, but Dr. Ramani says that a shift usually occurs midway through the relationship when they become distant and passive aggressive. Dr. Ramani explains that there are key signs you can look for to determine if you are in a narcissistic relationship. By paying attention to the ‘3 Rs’ - Ruminate, Regret, and Recall - you can acknowledge the unhealthy behaviour of your partner and free yourself from the relationship. In true Confidence and Self Esteem style; if you are looking to become more confident or have increased self esteem; you have to get slightly out of your comfort zone and challenge yourself and I'm no different when it comes to this. I'm certainly not prepared to hide behind some carefully edited recording! So as ALWAYS you get the raw - unedited version. Just like with all shows - I need your feedback. Let me know what you want me to talk about what you want to hear. Happy listening

Taking Time Out to Acknowledge Your Achievements
I'm unsure if this weeks episode's ('At the Car Wash' & 'Explaining At the Car Wash') episodes are a little poor, unhelpful or simply rubbish (your opinions welcome???), but either way I've thrown in a third episode this week just in case.

"Fake it until you make it." They say. To be honest, I knew it all along and that just makes this weeks revelation even more frustrating. I don't know why i don't think like this more often. In this weeks episode I'll be asking less about who you currently are and more about who you want to be.

    Stop Finding Excuses

    Stop Finding Excuses
Two completely different half's to todays show. (Mainly because one was recorded in the morning and the other around 8hrs later!). Look, none of us are perfect, but when some of us are willing to try - others see it as an opportunity for an excuse and thats not what confidence and self esteem is about. If you want greater confidence, you need to work for it.
