For our guys looking for the Dauphin Island inshore fishing report or the Orange Beach Inshore Fishing Report, Capt. Branden Collier has what you need to know to catch more speckled trout, redfish, and tripletail and how to catch each of these species in the area. The tactics and tips we discuss here each week can be applied to many areas when fishing Alabama's coast and other states along the Gulf of Mexico. Capt. Collier has been on the sheepshead and it seems that the spawn might be happening a little early this year. Capt. Branden talks about moon phases and the optimal water temperatures to capitalize on catching those sheepshead. We discuss what sheepshead rigs to use, what bait works best and what else we can catch nearshore right now.

For the Alabama Fishing Report offshore and the Gulf fishing report, tune in for this week's report with Capt. Matt Swiggum . You never know what you might get in the offshore Gulf Fishing report each week. We cover nearshore fishing from Captain's running center consoles and fishing for red snapper, grouper, triggerfish, king mackerel, cobia, and more. When we head to blue water, we have contributions from some of the best Captain's on the tournament circuit and off who fish for tuna, wahoo, mahi-mahi, and billfish. Capt. Matt has had recent success with giant yellowfin tuna with a popper. Matt walks us through what kind of rod and reel is best for chunking poppers and we also talk about catching bottom fish while you tuna fish over at the east lumps.

    Report for February 19-25, 2024

    Report for February 19-25, 2024

This week's show features interviews with Ryan from ART Construction and RJ Boyle with RJ Boyle Studios. Ryan discusses factors to consider when planning or upgrading a dock like materials, design, size, and permitting process. He recommends building docks sturdier than required to withstand storms. RJ talks about choosing the right swordfishing rod based on use case. Key characteristics included a number 4 butt, ring guides, and a Winthrop tip. He described light, medium, and heavy action rods and said the medium is most popular. RJ also discussed using the right drag and not judging it based on rod bend alone. Both provided helpful tips that will benefit anglers in planning projects and catching fish.
