Episode 2: "Let's go to work"
    Helena, MT  03/23/23

    Full video episode: https://youtu.be/M0Bw6z2pWXQ

In this episode, I talk with Edgar Barreto, Former Assistant Major League Strength & Conditioning Coach of the Boston Red Sox and Owner of Freedom Impact Training (Human Performance Development)

This was the first episode done in the podcast studio. I was actually very nervous!
Edgar made it really easy for me to get comfortable. Listening to his story of growing up as a kid in Cuba with dreams of becoming a professional baseball player. Edgar is a very passionate strong willed individual that I am very lucky I had the chance to sit down with. His story takes him from growing up in Cuba. Immigrating to Florida, with the hopes of getting the rest of his family there, as well as to one day play professional baseball. Edgar's life took many different paths, but the one commonality was perseverance. This is what never giving up, or taking no for an answer looks like. It was a pleasure to sit down with such a gracious kind human being. Towards the end of the podcast Edgar spoke about In vitro fertilization, known as IVF, is a procedure used to help you get pregnant. Edgar shares him and his wife's experience with IVF. We met for the first time a few weeks prior. He saw my vision exactly as I do, and gave me a ton of confidence leaving that little meeting. Edgar is a great coach, who has coached at the highest level. Hard work pays off, is a good take away from this one. I left that podcast very fired up and inspired. I hope somebody can take something away from Edgar's story.

Thank you to Edgar! A person I now call a friend. I would plug all your social media but you're just doing your thing without it. And I love that.
But if you're looking for an amazing Strength & Conditioning coach.

When old friends gather, the stories flow as richly as a vintage wine—and believe me, there's no shortage of either in our latest San Antonio rendezvous. Alfredo Boconegra, the man with the ever-present smile, and Andy Fisher, the medic without equal, join me as we weave through tales of our military years, the impact of our service on civilian life, and the soulful rhythm of friendship that keeps our bond unbreakable. From celebrating sobriety to debating Brad Pitt's most chiseled role, we cover miles of memories and dreams yet to unfold.

Crack a smile with us as we bat around the idea of how I've making it this far in life without "using common sense", and feel the warmth of our shared laughter over a pool game while philosophizing about life after the army. Andy's story of resilience in the face of a severe back injury reminds us of the weighty decisions draped in uniform, while our varied paths—Freddy exemplifies how military discipline has polished our approach to success in civilian ventures.

Drawing the curtain on this episode, we step into the realm of personal growth, with a heartfelt look at fitness journeys and the enlightening power of fasting. Our conversation is a testament to the gratitude we hold for our family ties, the joy of outdoor pursuits, and the poignant dedication to friends and soldiers whose memories are forever etched in our hearts. Join us for laughs, lessons, and the kind of candid reflections that can only be shared among true friends.

    Recorded: 07/15/23

Thankful I was able to sit down and talk to Libby. Libby is a tough character for sure. We spoke about losing loved ones close to us. Libby sets a good example of what taking things as they are and doing the best you can looks like.  I wanted to have this conversation with Libby before I moved. Because I couldn't think of a  better person to talk about and celebrate the life of our close friend Hailee Cross.  I learned a lot from the conversation I had on this podcast. I hope somebody else can take something from this. Dealing with loss isn't easy, so shouts out to those hanging in there for the others around them.

This Podcast is dedicated to my dear friend Hailee Cross.
Thank you for the impact you made on my life.

    Episode 7: "Kindness & Ridiculousness"
    Mark " Mutt" Tavary,  31
    Helena, MT
    Recorded: 06/25/23

Well, turns out June is "PTSD awareness" month, as well as "Men's Mental Health" awareness month.  P.s. ( Why does everything need a month?, It's also probably Alaskan snow crab appreciation month or something. - Rant over) but for reals shouts out to on my bro’s out their keeping it together for the ones they love.

But I am very grateful to have had the opportunity to sit down with one of my day 1's Mutt. Mutt has always stood out to me as somebody who has a really big heart and and is willing to give the shirt off of his back for his peoples.
Mutt opened up about some of the rougher parts of his life growing up. Dealing with watching his family fall apart after the sudden loss of his younger sister took a toll on him.
I know the feeling of losing people close to me all too well. There's nothing you can say to somebody in those moments to take the pain away. But I am truly grateful I had a friend like Mutt. To be by my side while, I was suffering from my losses.
Dang, we are really good at sad drinking together haha.

Real recognizes real though, thanks for always picking up the phone when I needed you, and always saying yes when I asked for you to just come over and be around my sad ass. You're a big reason why I survived through some of the shit that was destroying me, you we're just there.

We have shared so many memories together over the last 7-8 years or so that I consider Mutt a constant bright spot in my life. It's been beautiful to watch the growth of my boy over the past year. Rock-bottom to the penthouse suites baby!

I know that it takes a lot to open up to someone about our personal lives. But I also understand the importance as to how much it helps to do that.

So thank you Mutt, for putting yourself out there in the name of Mental Health awareness.

    Episode 6: "The Last Ride"
    Tanner Theriault,  32
    Helena, MT
    Recorded: 06/21/23

    Full video episode: https://youtu.be/AmUlhnQftXY

In this episode I finally got a chance to sit down with my friend Tanner Theriault. Tanner is currently sitting 1st in the standings in Bull Riding here in Montana. I met Tanner a few years back,  just a solid human being with a deep passion for riding bulls. We talked all about cowboying, rodeos, fatherhood and family. I have a huge respect for the guys putting it on the line and climbing on top of a 1,500 lb. beast.  We also went into detail about injuries and sudden illness. At a very young age Tanner was told by doctors that he would never play  contact sports ever again.  Fast-forward to today, Tanner is still never saying quit. As of today he's giving it one last shot at chasing the dreams he set for himself as a kid. Following in his fathers footsteps of being a world champion. From the outside looking in. Tanner and myself don't appear as if we would associate with one another, I suppose. But I'm very grateful to be able to call Tanner friend.  Hell of a teacher I tell you. I learned more about rodeo's sitting down with Tanner for an hour. Then in my my whole entire life.

    Good luck this season Tanner!
Safe & Healthy Travels my guy.

Episode 5: "From the cradle to the grave"
    Helena, MT
    Marcos Diaz,  33

    Full video episode: https://youtu.be/CAPKugilNOY
In this episode, I sat down and talked with a really good friend of mine Marcos Diaz. (In my living room)
We grew up together in the same place, and yet our lives went in very different directions.

We talked extensively about what it’s like growing up in the 209.
Marcos is a hustler in every sense of the word. If there’s one thing I can tell you about this human, he has a insane work ethic and upholds the meaning of Loyalty to the highest degree. Marcos has lived a crazy life, and has been in some situations that are hard to fathom.  His  story starts out  with having his first child at fifteen, and then you just have to listen to the to the rest grasp it.

There aren’t a whole lot of options for humans coming out of that place.
My road was the military, that’s what got me out. Marcos had sports, but taking on real life adult responsibilities at a young age changed that path for him. I hope you guys can take something away from Marco’s story.

By the way, I’ve seen Marcos like twice since I moved from Cali.  (2010)

It has been years since we talked, and when I asked him if he would come down, catch up, and do a podcast if he was passing through.
He replied “hell mf yea” and drove 8 hours out of his way to do that for me.

People make sacrifices for the ones they care about, I believe he did it because in his heart he knows I would do the same without batting an eye.

This is the first podcast done with somebody that I grew up with from back home. (can you spot any similarities)
Very thankful to sit down with my brother.
Smoking blunts and choppin' it up, like the good old days.
For those who didn’t know me, or were not a part of my life back then.
Here’s a little bit of insight as to what life was like for me growing up.

Marcos wanted to shout out his homie Young Iggz from the 209.
    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yoapnIFeyuY
Turns out this music video was filmed like around the corner from my house growing up lol.
Check it out for a visual reference to where I spent the first like 20 years of my life.

Hanging with Humans Podcast | Episode 4 | Zoë Sanders

Episode 4:  "A line in the sand"
    Helena, MT
    Zoë Sanders,  24

    Full video episode: https://youtu.be/vUXdHLk9ciU

In this episode I sat down and talked with one of my best friends Zoë Sanders.
I've known Zoë for many years, but I never knew much about her past. We talk about her journey over from South Africa to the United States. Where she grew up in the religious group Jehovah's Witnesses. Zoë's life within the organization ended at age 18. The nature of being thrown into the world as an adult with no support system can be a dark thing. Our minds are so fragile as children, and sometimes our spirits can be broken before we reach the age of understanding right from wrong. I have a lot of respect for Zoë. She has battled through many things in life, starting at a young age. Life threw things at her like teen pregnancy, followed by the suicide of the father of her child. She had to take on the responsibility of taking care of her daughter by herself. Zoë is a fighter in every sense of the word, I am very grateful to have a person like her in my corner. She is currently off traveling the country chasing her dreams and experiencing everything thing this world has to offer. I know her story is going to help somebody somewhere. Because, I know people close to me with very similar upbringings, including myself.

I asked what came to mind for the title of the episode. She told me "A line in the sand"
"You can waste your lives drawing lines or you can live your life crossing them."
    - I was given lines my entire life, but now I am the one pushing past them. I saw myself being held back by the opinions of others. That isn't a part of my life anymore.
We are so much more capable then we think we are, draw a line in the sand and crawl until you get there. It doesn't matter how fast or slow you get there.

Thank you to Zoë! You're a great friend & even better Human.

Hanging with Humans Podcast | Episode 3 | Baylie Flynn

Hanging with Humans Podcast | Episode 3 | Baylie Flynn

    Hanging With Humans Podcast.
Episode 3:  "Hurt people, Hurt people."  Helena, MT
    Baylie Flynn,  25

In this episode, I talk with Baylie Flynn.
This was the first episode done in the alternate recording space. It was chill vibes.
Baylie has become a good friend of mine over this last year. She is a super smart and strong willed individual with a heart of gold, haha. She has also been helping me out on the Podcast pretty much from the beginning, with the use of her training in Graphic Design & Computer Science and she is currently finishing her Bachelors in Accounting.

The consequences of the vicious cycle that is "Hurt people, hurting people" is what spawned the spontaneous podcast recording without any video. I don't think this will be a common theme going forward. The way this podcast came about:

I had a nice little mental episode/breakdown. Starting on a day that would have been a start to a beautiful week long vacation. In the process of a overwhelming panic/breathing attack, came a moment of clarity. With clarity came an assortment different ideas and different ways to approach my current life problems/stresses. Some major self exploration was fueled by some psilocybin and mountain therapy. It helped free my mind from what was hindering me in that moment. The free mind is capable of so much.
Knowing my usual manic state, Baylie was not deterred from coming and recording a podcast with me at 11pm. She knew if I actually asked that late, that it was important for me. That's what good friends do, they show up for you when you need them. In this episode Baylie opens up about the struggles she dealt with after the loss of her fifteen year old sister Ashley. Ashley was Baylie's best friend in the world, so I feel very honored that she told her story here. We touched on all parts of metal health in one way or another in this episode. So I think there is a lot in here that people can relate to. There were moments in her life where her spirit seemed broken, but she battled through and is now making a beautiful life for her and her son Casey. For the relatively small amount of time that I've known Baylie, I've seen enough strength and courage to last a lifetime. This gal is a real fighter, and I think her story proves that. You never know what the person next to you has gone through, the more we understand that, the more we can understand each other. Baylie would like the world to know that this podcast is for Ashley Ryan Flynn.
I hope somebody can take something away from Baylie's story to help benefit their own.

Thank you to Baylie! For being such a great friend & Human.

Hanging with Humans Podcast | Episode 1 | St. Paul's UMC Youth Group

This Is the official Introductory first episode of the Hanging with Humans podcast.

Episode One: "Rjeezy meets the KatyCats"
    Helena, Mt
    St Paul's United Methodist Church

    Full video episode: https://youtu.be/AhTWcbbrYhc

    First one!
I decided to make my first public speaking event, my first official published podcast episode.
The point of this "Motivational" presentation was to speak to high school kids from a church youth group about "Finding your worth" and "Finding your purpose". Those who know me, know that me and religion go together like two things that don't actually go together. But I do believe that I am a spiritual person.  Some say those two things go hand and hand. I have no clue, but either way. I went in not knowing what to expect. I left with a whole new perspective on many things. I do believe I learned much more from these young adults, then they probably learned from me. I did kind of a post interview sort of thing on how I felt about my first public speaking event. So the video starts with that. It looks terrible because i'm dumb and not good at editing yet. But hey, we all have to start somewhere.

I want to say a big thank you to my friend Molly and the kids over at St. Paul's United Methodist Church youth group. So thankful for the opportunity to come out and talk about the podcast. I learned so much from every one of you, these little humans have such bright futures ahead of them.
