    Podcast Summary

    • Focus on recognition over reprimandsPraising people for doing things right boosts confidence and encourages growth, while reprimands can cause feelings of worthlessness or inadequacy

To bring out the best in those around you, focus on recognition over reprimands. According to the podcast, the average child is reprimanded eight times more than praised, leading to feelings of inadequacy. Instead, praise people when they do something right, as everyone responds positively to positive reinforcement. For instance, instead of scolding a husband for not doing the dishes, praise him when he does. This approach boosts confidence and encourages growth, rather than causing feelings of worthlessness or inadequacy. By recognizing the good in others, you create an environment where people feel valued and motivated to continue improving.

    • Recognize and praise desired behaviorsInstead of criticizing, focus on recognizing and praising desired behaviors to encourage repetition and create a positive environment

Positive reinforcement is more effective than negative reinforcement in encouraging desired behaviors. Instead of focusing on what people haven't done or criticizing them, it's important to recognize and praise them for the small things they do. This not only makes people feel valued and appreciated, but it also encourages them to repeat those behaviors. Public recognition can also be effective, but it should be authentic and not condescending. By focusing on the positive, we can create a more positive and productive environment. This approach can be applied to various situations, whether it's at home with family members or in a professional setting with team members. Remember, everyone wants to feel seen, heard, and validated. So, let's make an effort to recognize and praise the good things people do.

    • Recognize and reinforce good deedsPublicly recognizing good deeds encourages others and boosts morale, leading to better performance and a positive work environment.

Positive reinforcement can be an effective tool for motivation, and it can be done both privately and publicly. Using the example of a family, public recognition of good deeds encourages others to follow suit. Similarly, in a professional setting, recognizing an employee's efforts, even if their results are not the best, can boost morale and encourage better performance. Public recognition reinforces the desired behavior and creates a competitive spirit among team members. It's essential to find reasons to reinforce and recognize people instead of reprimanding them. This approach can bring out the best in employees and foster a positive work environment.

    • Embody change for growthConsistently make efforts for improvement, make more phone calls for better closing rates, recognize good in people, seek self-discovery through therapy, and lead by example.

Improvement and growth, whether personal or professional, require consistent effort and setting an example. The speaker emphasizes the importance of making more phone calls to enhance closing percentages, and recognizing the good in people. He also highlights the significance of therapy as a tool for self-discovery and growth. Lastly, the speaker stresses the importance of leading by example and modeling the behavior you want to see in others. As Gandhi once said, "Be the change that you want to see in the world." By embodying the change we wish to see, we can inspire and motivate others to follow suit. BetterHelp, an online therapy service, can help individuals navigate life's challenges and improve their mental well-being with the guidance of professionally licensed therapists.

    • Embody the change you wish to seeTo bring about positive change, be the change you want to see and give people more autonomy to lead themselves

In order to bring about positive change in our relationships and the world around us, we must first embody the change we wish to see. Be the change you want to see in your personal relationships, and lead by example. Additionally, giving people more autonomy and trusting them to lead themselves can help build their confidence and reduce the need for micromanagement. Remember, micromanaging can lower people's confidence and make them reliant on us, instead of empowering them to discover their own power. By embodying change and giving people more autonomy, we can bring out the best in those around us.

    • Feedback Sandwich ApproachStart feedback with a positive comment, provide constructive criticism, and end with another positive comment to create a productive and positive conversation.

Effective feedback involves a balance of acknowledging strengths and identifying areas for improvement. Instead of simply pointing out weaknesses, the "feedback sandwich" approach involves starting with a positive comment, followed by constructive criticism, and ending with another positive comment. This approach helps to create a more productive and positive conversation, as opposed to coming across as critical or demotivating. It's important to recognize and acknowledge what someone is doing well before providing suggestions for improvement, as this can help to build confidence and motivation. This approach can be applied in various contexts, including in the workplace and in personal relationships.

    • Love and understand, don't try to changeInstead of trying to change people, create a loving and supportive environment to help them become their best selves

Instead of trying to change people into who we want them to be, we should focus on loving them for who they are. People already criticize themselves enough, and trying to fix them can create a harmful environment. Instead, by providing a safe space for them to express themselves and be understood, we can help them expand into who they are meant to be. A specific example of this was shared at a seminar where a mother was trying to change her son's behavior, but upon realizing she wasn't truly listening to him, she was able to create a more loving and supportive environment. By focusing on love and understanding, we can help people become the best versions of themselves.

    • Recognize and appreciate employees instead of reprimanding themFind reasons to recognize, offer authentic public praise, model desired traits, trust team autonomy, accept employees as they are, and make someone's day better to foster a positive work environment

Effective leadership involves recognizing and appreciating employees instead of constantly reprimanding them. Here are six practical tips from the discussion: 1. Find reasons to recognize rather than reprimand. 2. Offer public recognition when possible and make it authentic. 3. Model the traits you want to see in your team. 4. Trust your team and give them more autonomy. 5. Don't try to change them, just love them for who they are. 6. Make it your mission to make someone else's day better. By implementing these strategies, you can create a safe and supportive work environment where employees feel encouraged to grow and become the best versions of themselves. Remember, recognition and appreciation go a long way in fostering a positive and productive team dynamic.

How To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

How To Reprogram Your Subconscious Mind

Today, I'm exploring how our early experiences and surroundings shape who we become—and more importantly—how we can rewrite those scripts to create the life we truly want. Think of our minds like super-complex computers; they run on programs we pick up from childhood onward. These programs influence everything from our behaviors to how we think about ourselves and the world.

From the moment we're born, we're soaking up information like sponges. It's fascinating to see how much of what we learn comes from observing those around us, especially during those crucial early years. I'll be sharing insights on how to uncover these subconscious programs, challenge them, and ultimately, rewrite them to align with your goals and dreams. If you're ready to take charge of your programming and steer your life in a new direction, this episode is for you!
