    Podcast Summary

    • Mindful communication in DMs: Be thoughtful, consider the recipient, and understand win-win and no-lose scenariosThoughtful communication in DMs can lead to better engagement and successful connections. Consider the recipient's perspective, and understand win-win and no-lose scenarios to craft effective messages.

Being mindful and intentional in our communication, especially in direct messages (DMs), can lead to better engagement and responses. Gary Vaynerchuk emphasizes the importance of asking oneself if they would recommend themselves in various roles and considering the recipient's perspective. He also highlights the significance of the internet giving everyone an opportunity to connect, but the work put into making meaningful connections is essential. Moreover, understanding the concept of win-win and no-lose situations can help in crafting effective messages. Win-win scenarios may not always be equitable, while no-lose situations offer benefits for both parties with minimal risk. A practical example of this is when someone reached out to Gary and offered to send him logo samples without any cost or commitment. This approach created a no-lose situation, making it more likely for Gary to respond positively. In summary, being thoughtful in our communication, considering the recipient's perspective, and understanding win-win and no-lose scenarios can lead to better engagement and more successful connections.

He emphasizes that people often talk about wanting to work together but rarely follow through with action. The speaker also shares an anecdote about inviting influential rappers to dinner by simply asking them, highlighting the importance of taking initiative and not being afraid to ask for what you want. The speaker's past willingness to ask 100 people for one yes, ultimately leading to the hail Mary success, underscores the importance of persistence and determination in achieving goals. Overall, the message is to not just talk about goals and aspirations, but to take action towards making them a reality.

    • Starting a business before the internet eraPersistence and determination are crucial for success, even without modern technology or resources. Believe in yourself, keep pushing forward, and gain experience to secure opportunities.

Persistence and determination are key factors in achieving success, even in the absence of modern technology and resources. The speaker shares his experience of starting out in business before the internet era, when he had to rely on traditional methods to find leads and customers. He recounts how he traveled great distances to attend events and network with potential clients, despite facing obstacles such as lack of credentials or transportation. He emphasizes that even if the odds seem stacked against you, it's important to keep pushing forward and believe in yourself. The speaker also highlights that as you gain experience and build a track record of success, it becomes easier to secure opportunities. Overall, this conversation underscores the importance of resilience and hustle in achieving your goals, regardless of the challenges you face.

    • Identifying potential customers in unexpected placesEngaging with customers in meaningful ways, whether online or in person, can lead to unexpected business opportunities.

Identifying your target customers and going where they are can lead to unexpected business opportunities. The speaker shares a story about how he identified a potential customer for his jet company by noticing his purchasing patterns at a coffee shop during a conference. This encounter led to his first sale from Josh Koppelman from Half.com. However, the speaker also emphasizes that while the internet has made it easier to connect with people, it's still important to build relationships in person. He expresses frustration that some people prioritize online interactions over in-person ones. Ultimately, the speaker encourages listeners to engage with their customers in meaningful ways, whether that's online or in person. And as a final note, he expresses gratitude to those who leave reviews for the podcast, as they mean a lot to him.

    • Building authentic connections and giving backDedicating time to build genuine relationships and giving back to your community can lead to a loyal following and lasting impact.

The Most Important Question In Business

The Most Important Question In Business

Here’s the problem most people run into when they create content online: They think they have to have something to say. So many of you aren’t putting out content online because you think you need to have the perfect message, or something “valuable” to share (based on your own arbitrary opinion). And what I’m telling you is, you will get more business if you put out literally anything. If you’re an auto dealer, you could put out a 5 min video every afternoon just recapping what happened in your day. If you’re a real estate agent, you could post updates on what your opinions are about the Super Bowl teams. Get on social media and tell your truth … it’s really that simple.

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

There are so many people racing to earn more money than they can even spend even if they have to sacrifice their happiness and livelihood to do so. The really disturbing part about this is that most of these people only want the money so they can be flashy and show off their overly expensive cars (that they don't even want) and other dumb things to other people. Happiness needs to be the Northstar that we strive towards. If we aren't aiming to be happy, then is it really worth having more money than you can spend and more cars than you can drive? —
