    Minister of External Affairs S Jaishankar today welcomed his Pakistani counterpart Bilawal Bhutto-Zardari in Goa at a conclave of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO). Visuals showed the foreign ministers' customary greeting with folded hands before the two posed for pictures and Mr Jaishankar directed him to the venue. Bilawal Bhutto has become the first senior leader from the neighbouring country to visit India in almost 12 years. However, there's no confirmation yet of a bilateral between India and Pakistan's Foreign Ministers. Mr Bhutto's visit to India to attend the SCO Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) meeting comes amid continuing strain in ties between the two countries on a host of issues, including Islamabad's use of cross-border terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir.

After the game, Kohli and Gambhir got involved in a verbal spat after which Amit Mishra, RCB skipper Faf du Plessis and Vijay Dahiya, the LSG assistant coach, had to restore sanity to proceedings.     One of the founding members of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Mukul Roy, has expressed a desire to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and meet Union Home Minister Amit Shah. “I am a BJP legislator. I want to be with the BJP. The party has made arrangements for my stay here. I want to meet Amit Shah and speak to (party president) JP Nadda,” he told a Bengali news channel late on Tuesday evening. The TMC MLA said that he was still a BJP legislator. Mukul Roy joined the BJP in 2017 after his reportedly strained relationship with the TMC's top leadership. However, he returned to the TMC fold in 2019 after the West Bengal Assembly election. Advising his son to join the BJP, Roy said, “He too should join the BJP as it would suit him best.” Meanwhile, Roy's son Subhrangshu has claimed that his father is “extremely unwell” and suffers from “dementia and Parkinson’s disease”. Meanwhile, Leader of Opposition (LoP) in West Bengal Suvendhu Adhikari said that the Bengal BJP was not interested in inducting Roy into the saffron camp.

    Headlines: More Than 7000 Coronavirus Cases In India In 24 hrs

    India recorded 7,633 new coronavirus infections in the past 24 hours, the Health Ministry's data on Tuesday showed. With the new cases, the active cases have increased to 61,233. The death toll has increased to 5,31,152 with 11 deaths. While four deaths were reported from Delhi, one each was reported from Haryana, Karnataka and Punjab while four fatalities were reconciled by Kerala, the data updated at 8 am stated. The Covid case tally was recorded at 4.47 crore (4,48,34,859) The active cases now comprise 0.14 per cent of the total infections and the national COVID-19 recovery rate has been recorded at 98.68 per cent, the ministry said.

    Atiq Ahmed's son Asad, who was killed in an encounter by Uttar Pradesh Police Special Task Force on Thursday, was buried at a Prayagraj mortuary today. The 19-year-old, along with one of Atiq's noted henchmen, was gunned down in Jhansi after they gave a chase to police for over 45 days. Both deceased carried bounties of Rs 5 lakh on their heads as they were accused in the Umesh Pal murder case. The bodies of both - Atiq Ahmed's son Asad and his aide Ghulam were taken to the Prayagraj mortuary from Jhansi by Uttar Pradesh Police. The encounter was carried out at the time Ahmed was in a Prayagraj court, where he was presented before the chief judicial magistrate in connection with the same murder and was remanded to 14-day judicial custody. The court also allowed a five-day remand for the UP Police to question him.
