Federal regulations requiring the implementation of electronic health records (EHRs) spurred the need for the healthcare industry to assess processes and employee skill sets relative to maintaining proper electronic records and improving patient care and safety outcomes. As a healthcare professional, it's likely that your job is affected every day by tasks or information related to health informatics. Dr. Christopher is an ANCC board certified nurse executive, and is board certified as a healthcare technology specialist clinician/practitioner consultant (CHTS-CP) through the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA). She is also an active member of the AHIMA and the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS). Dr. Christopher was credentialed by EPIC in electronic health record (EMR) report writing and inpatient clinical documentation.
