    en-usAugust 22, 2021

    Podcast Summary

    • Friendship and shared experiences bring joy and lift spiritsFriendship and shared experiences can have a profound impact on emotional well-being, bringing joy and lifting spirits during challenging times.

Friendship and companionship can help lift one's spirits and bring joy, even during challenging times. This was evident in the discussion as the friends, John and Indiana, looked back on a difficult year and their upcoming trip to Mexico for Indiana's birthday. John's presence and his musical washboard brought happiness and laughter to Indiana, who was in a dark place the previous year. The influence of friendship and shared experiences can have a profound impact on one's emotional well-being. Additionally, the conversation touched on the topic of influencer culture and its potential benefits, such as discounts on trips, although the specifics of this were not elaborated on. Overall, the importance of friendship and the power of shared experiences emerged as a meaningful theme in the conversation.

    • Summer camp memories and unexpected business ideaThe speaker found joy and inspiration from their experiences as a summer camp counselor, which led to a unique business idea involving campfires and customizable meals.

The experience of being a summer camp counselor, playing the washboard in the camp band, and teaching children how to make a one match fire, brought a sense of joy and fulfillment to the speaker. This experience also led to an unexpected business idea, which involved creating a campfire-centric food establishment with a unique name. The idea was further developed into a concept where customers would build their own campfires and cook food specifically designed for that purpose. The speaker's favorite food item to cook over the campfire was baked beans, and they shared their preference for different brands, leading to a humorous exchange. The conversation also touched on the acceptance of natural body hair and the potential for double standards. Overall, the conversation showcased the speaker's passion for the outdoors, their creativity, and their ability to find joy in simple experiences.

    • Body hair and personal choicesPeople have different opinions on body hair and societal pressure influences personal choices, leading to various methods of management and experiences of teasing.

Body hair and its removal can be a source of both personal preference and social interaction. During a conversation, the speakers discussed their differing opinions on body hair, with one expressing her pride in her hairiness and the other preferring to remove her body hair. They also shared experiences of being teased about their hair and the lengths they went to manage it, including laser hair removal. The conversation also touched upon the societal pressure to conform to certain beauty standards and the role of insecurities in personal choices. Despite their differences, they acknowledged their deep bond and appreciation for each other. The conversation also showcased their shared love for shopping on Amazon and exchanging gifts. Ultimately, the conversation highlighted the complexity of personal choices and the importance of accepting and respecting individual differences.

    • Gifts that show understanding and appreciationUnderstanding a person's interests and experiences leads to meaningful and thoughtful gifts. Be open-minded and supportive of others' choices.

Meaningful and thoughtful gifts come from understanding a person's interests and experiences. In the discussion, Jared shared an anecdote about asking his friend what she wanted for her birthday, only to be met with the response that anything he got her would disappoint her. Instead, he decided to give her gifts based on their shared history and her known preferences. For instance, he gave her a washboard roll because she had mentioned her lack of wrapping paper, and a Mamma Mia DVD because he knew it was one of her favorite comfort movies. Another gift was a custom Pokemon item, as he knew she had recently taken an interest in the game. These gifts, despite not being extravagant or signed by famous figures, were meaningful because they showed that Jared had listened to and appreciated his friend's interests. The discussion also highlighted the importance of being open-minded and supportive of others' choices, even if they don't align with one's own opinions.

    • The Power of Emotional GiftsGifts that hold deep emotional significance can create strong connections and bring joy, surprise, and even tears.

The discussion revolves around the excitement and emotion surrounding the giving and receiving of special gifts. The gifts range from a custom Pokemon figurine to a family crest ring. The process of acquiring these gifts involved effort, anticipation, and a deep emotional connection. The reactions to receiving these gifts were filled with joy, surprise, and even tears. The significance of these gifts went beyond their material value, as they served as reminders of loved ones, cherished memories, and personal interests. The experience of giving and receiving these gifts created a sense of connection and bonding between the individuals involved.

    • Unexpected twists in life bring excitement and disappointmentLife's unexpected twists can lead to memorable experiences, but sometimes they result in disappointments. Preparation and anticipation can help mitigate potential letdowns.

Unexpected twists and turns in life can lead to both exciting experiences and disappointments. The conversation revolves around a man's upcoming experience seeing the musical "Hamilton" and his past failed Bumble date. He shares his excitement about getting 3rd row seats but expresses concern about the length of the show. They reminisce about a past date where he took a woman to see "A Star is Born," only to have the film end tragically, leaving him feeling awkward and disappointed. The man laments that he may have ruined her Bumble experience, but they both agree that life's unexpected twists are part of the journey. The conversation also touches on the importance of preparation and anticipation for experiences, as well as the potential for disappointment when things don't go as planned.

    • Friendship formed through shared financial hardshipShared financial struggles can deepen friendships, illustrating the importance of vulnerability and memories in relationships

The bond between two friends was strengthened through a shared experience of financial hardship. The friends, John and the speaker, met in acting class and became close after realizing they had no money for a fancy dinner at a buffet. Despite the initial shame and embarrassment, they found comfort in their shared situation and formed a deeper connection. This experience illustrates that vulnerability and financial struggles can bring people closer together. The friends' story also highlights the importance of friendship and the memories created through shared experiences, even if they come with financial consequences.

    • Understanding individual financial situationsComparing finances to others can cause stress, remember everyone's situation is unique, communicate openly about financial expectations.

Wealth and financial situations vary greatly among individuals, and what may seem extravagant or expensive to one person may be commonplace or even affordable for another. The speaker shared stories of expensive purchases, such as $300 bottles of champagne, and feeling overwhelmed by the cost compared to their own financial means. It's important to remember that everyone's financial situation is unique and that comparing oneself to others can lead to unnecessary stress or feelings of inadequacy. Additionally, the conversation touched on the topic of generosity and the speaker's experience of footing the bill for a dinner where everyone else was ordering expensive shots. It's essential to communicate openly about financial expectations and boundaries in social situations to avoid unexpected costs and potential conflict.

    • Unique Perspectives and ValuesPeople have diverse opinions and values, and it's crucial to respect and understand them. Negotiation plays a significant role in reaching agreements, and individual circumstances can greatly impact decisions.

People have unique perspectives and values. In the discussion, there was excitement over a custom Bentley truck, with some finding it amazing while others considered it an abomination. Similarly, basketball player Dennis Schroder turned down an $84 million offer and struggled to find a new contract, highlighting the importance of perspective and negotiation. Another topic touched upon was PJ Washington and a rumor about a woman who supposedly manipulates relationships and takes custody of children. Despite the varying opinions and stories, the conversation underscores the importance of understanding and respecting individual viewpoints.

    • High Child Support Payments: A Significant Financial BurdenA judge ordered a professional athlete to pay $200,000 a month in child support, leaving him with a small fraction of his earnings after taxes. This payment could last for several years.

Child support payments can be a significant financial burden, especially when based on a high income. In this case, a judge ordered a professional athlete to pay $200,000 a month, leaving him with a small fraction of his earnings after taxes. This payment could last for several years, potentially until the children reach 18. The exact circumstances leading to full custody for the children's mother were not discussed, but it's mentioned that it's relatively easy for a mother to gain full custody. Elsewhere in the conversation, there were discussions about various topics, including expensive birthday parties, celebrities, and personal experiences. However, the main focus remained on the high child support payments and the financial implications for the athlete.

    • Discussing personal privacy and consent in relationships and technologyWhile parents have the right to access their children's phones, open communication and respectful boundaries are crucial.

Personal privacy and consent are important issues, especially when it comes to relationships and technology. In the discussion, a person shared an experience where they bought a life insurance policy for their ex-girlfriend, and later regretted the decision when they lost the money. They also talked about a past embarrassing story that got brought up on the podcast. The conversation then shifted to discussing the boundaries of privacy, particularly when parents have access to their children's phones and texts. The consensus was that while it's important to be open and vulnerable, there are limits to what should be shared publicly. The takeaway for young listeners is to remember that phones and their content are typically considered the property of the parents, and they have the right to access it. However, it's crucial to communicate openly and respectfully with significant others and parents about boundaries and expectations.

    • Open communication and honesty in uncomfortable situationsApproaching difficult conversations with honesty and transparency can lead to respect and appreciation. Cultural differences can influence perspectives on relationships and marriage.

Open communication and honesty, even in uncomfortable situations, can lead to respect and appreciation. In the discussion, a man named George recounted an experience where he approached a mother about texts she had found between him and her daughter. Although it was an awkward conversation, George's intention was to clear up any misunderstandings and be transparent. The mother, who was taken aback by George's approach, later expressed her admiration for his honesty and courage. This incident highlights the importance of addressing issues directly and being a gentleman, even when it might be difficult or uncomfortable. Additionally, the conversation touched upon the cultural differences between the South and other regions regarding relationships and marriage. The mothers in the South, who grew up in a context where getting married young and having children was common, found it strange that George and the woman he was dating were not yet ready for such commitments. This illustrates the diverse perspectives and norms that exist across different regions and communities. In summary, the conversation emphasized the value of open communication and honesty, even in potentially uncomfortable situations, and shed light on the varying cultural norms surrounding relationships and marriage.

    • The use of physical punishment in schools and householdsWhile some view physical punishment as an effective way to discipline, others consider it abuse. Modern parenting techniques prioritize positive reinforcement and open communication.

The use of physical punishment as a form of discipline was a common practice in some schools and households in the past, even extending into high school. This included the use of paddles and wooden switches. While some may argue that this was a necessary part of growing up, others see it as crossing a line into abuse. The line between discipline and abuse can be blurry, and opinions on the matter vary. Some people believe that physical punishment is an effective way to teach children a lesson, while others believe that it can cause more harm than good. Regardless, it's important to remember that times have changed, and modern parenting techniques focus more on positive reinforcement and open communication.

    • Family Discipline and Dominance: Unconventional PunishmentsFamilies use unconventional methods to discipline and assert power, creating memorable experiences and lasting impacts on children.

The dynamics of family power and discipline can lead to unique and memorable experiences. The speaker shares an anecdote about her brother's perceived dominance and the unconventional punishments her father used to discipline him. The brother's favorite food, watermelon, became a significant punishment when the speaker was allergic to it. The conversation then shifts to the speaker's own cooking mishaps and the quirks of their household food preferences. Despite the apparent chaos, the speaker reflects on these experiences with a sense of nostalgia and humor. Overall, the conversation highlights the unique and often humorous ways families cope with discipline and the lasting impact of childhood memories.

    • Misunderstandings from utility bills and real estate communicationsClear communication is crucial to avoid misunderstandings and potential inconveniences. Double-check information and be specific to ensure accurate understanding.

Communication is key, especially when it comes to understanding utility bills and important appointments. In the discussion, the utility company sent a letter to the landlord about an unpaid gas bill, which came as a surprise to the tenants. They assumed that their gas bill included heating and hot water, but it turned out that it was only for the stove and fireplace. This misunderstanding could have been avoided with clearer communication. Another instance of miscommunication occurred when Jared tried to contact a realtor to arrange a property viewing. He got the wrong number and left a message, which he later regretted hanging up on. The tenants found humor in their mishaps and made it a segment on their podcast, but these incidents highlight the importance of double-checking information and being clear in our communications. Additionally, the discussion revealed their shared enjoyment of property tours and their interest in real estate, even if they weren't actively looking to buy or move. Overall, the conversation showcased the importance of effective communication and the value of finding enjoyment in everyday experiences.

    • A friend's curiosity leads to a meaningful connectionActive listening, empathy, and genuine interest can deepen friendships and create memorable experiences

Even in seemingly mundane conversations, showing genuine care and interest in someone's experiences can lead to meaningful connections. During a discussion about an unexpected event in Indiana's life, her friend asked about the timing of her periods, not out of judgment or discomfort, but out of curiosity and concern. This small interaction showed Indiana that her friend truly cared about her and wanted to understand her experiences. The conversation then led to a lighthearted moment, as they joked about the timing of her periods during Thanksgiving and made plans to celebrate her birthday. This exchange highlights the importance of active listening, empathy, and genuine interest in others' lives, which can strengthen relationships and create lasting memories.

What's up party people! We're back with another fun themed episode but this week we travel back in time! Maybe idk the timeline is a little fuzzy on this one. This week Zach and Tara talk about their experience meeting Tara's idol, we explore the depths of one of our love lives, and there might be a new Dropouts couple to ship you'll just have to watch and see...We hope you enjoy!

    P.S.

We sincerely apologize for another shorter episode this week :( As you can see this was shot on the same day as the Mount Everest ep and just for a little context, because of everybody’s schedules we had to shoot two episodes AND a music video all in the same day to make sure we were able to put out our regularly scheduled episodes for you all. I hope you can understand and give us a little grace for that. I also wish I could say that we’d be back to our normally scheduled program next week but to be honest with you, the next time we film will most likely be while we’re in NYC for our East coast live shows! Now, no promises, but that episode may or may not have a very cool guest on it 👀 What I can say for certain is that it’ll still be another week until we’re back in the diner. We always want to give you the best content possible and sometimes life gets busy and hectic and tries to throw a wrench in that plan, and we’re just trying our best to uphold that promise to you all. Thank you for coming along this journey, you truly mean the world to us. Can’t wait to see everybody on tour next week!!

Thank you to the team at Thurgood Media for creating the back drop for us!https://www.thurgoodmedia.com/ What's up party people! Okay, first order of business we'd like to formally apologize for the shorter episode this week. As you can see we filmed in a special location this week, but with that (and also a few technical issues) came some time constraints that we couldn't avoid. We were also filming a VERY cool project the same day that i think many of you will be excited to see 👀 We always want to provide you all with the best content we can and we hope that this unique location and all the behind the scenes effort we put into every episode and this one in particular, at least somewhat makes up for it... Second order of business, we still have a great episode for you! Despite what the background might say, things start off HOT this episode with some drama between two of our cohosts 👀 You'll just have to see for yourself who's a part of that. Following the drama, Zach and Skyler fill us in on all the wild antics they got into while at Stagecoach. Then to round it all out we dive into an introspective, thought provoking question that you all might want to ask yourselves. It just might make you look at yourself in a different light. How To Start The "Money" Conversation With Your Spouse & Kids

Welcome to the Teaching Your Toddler interview with The Money Couple Taylor and Megan Kovar who talk to us about how to start the conversation with your spouse about money and how to start teaching your children about the value of money.

Taylor and Megan help counsel couples on their financial personalities and offer SO many resources, available on their website themoneycouple.com. You can also join their Facebook group, once you take their Financial Personality quiz (PS – I’m a “Saver/Risk Taker” which means I’m conflicted – and that doesn’t even take into account my spouse’s personalities! Zoinks!)

One of the hardest parts of marriage or long-term partnership is talking about finances, let alone actually working together to manage them. It’s estimated, according to the Money Couple’s website, that up to 70% of divorces are caused by money trouble. So how do you even start that conversation?

Also, what about your kids? How can you start teaching them about money, what it means, what the value is, what the connection is between effort and reward?

Listen to this episode and find out exactly how to start those tough but super important conversations. The Money Couple have three kids of their own and share some of the helpful ways they are teaching their own kids about money and about how you can too.

Their mission is to help prevent money-related divorces by helping couple communicate and understand their decision-making as it relates to money. Check this out – it could save your marriage!

    936 Bridge the Gap

    936 Bridge the Gap

Tired of running from one thing to the next barely able to get dinner on the table. Wanting to live out your purpose. You gotta bridge the gap.

And not with your busyness. Not with your to-do list. Not with your priorities.

Desire to be supported and encourage by other like-minded women? Join us at Women of IMPACThttp://facebook.com/groups/thewomenofimpact

You gotta bridge the gap with prayer.

God desires to hear your cry. He wants to talk with you.

"Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation by prayer and petition with thanksgiving present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." ~ Philippians 4:6

You don't have to be anxious about anything. Nor do you have to worry.

    God's got you!

But what He really wants is you to talk to Him.

God wants you to use your words.

Bridge the gap with prayer. Stop trying to do life by yourself.

God breathed life into you. Rise up and pray. (Luke 22:46)

If you keep trying to do life your way, your struggles and temptations are easily blown out of proportion.

"Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak." ~ Matthew 26:41

You were not created to do life by yourself.

The K.I.S.S. ~ Bridge the gap and PRAY!

    1. Rise up and pray.
    2. Let God walk beside you.
    3. Join in conversation with Him.

"Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer." ~ Romans 12:12

Bridge the gap. Rise up and pray. You're gonna have a beautiful day!

"Go out and rejoice with the Lord!"
