Mal is out, Hiller strikes out, CrossFit Journal Article "A better warm up"

The news exploded while lives on air.

We talk a swing a miss from Hiller, Mal annouces she's out for another season and what a better warm up really is in CrossFit.

Written by Greg Glassman, Published April 2003

"In commercial gyms everywhere, warming up constitutes little more than spending fifteen or twenty minutes on a bike, treadmill, or stair climber. While better than nothing, this approach to warming up is largely a waste of time in that it will not improve flexibility, does not involve the whole body or major functional movements, misses an ideal opportunity for reinforcing and practicing some critical exercises, and poorly prepares an athlete for rigorous athletic training." - Greg Glassman

The potential future of the CrossFit Games "Service Open"

The "Service Open" is back! But what is it, why do we have it and where could the future of this competition go? The history of CrossFit and and it's training methodology is rooted deep within our First Responders and Military communities. It was CrossFit that first recognized that these individuals' success in the line of duty and field of war could hinge on their general physical preparedness and potentially be the difference between life and death for themselves and/or others. The "Service Open" is a competitive, tip of the cap, if you will to these brave men and women... but what more could it become?
