Life experiences, even those that are difficult or unexpected, can shape and equip us for future challenges. Additionally, she values creating passive income and giving back to charity. Overall, her story highlights the importance of embracing all experiences, good and bad, and using them to grow and thrive.

    • Impact of Relationships and Personal GrowthLife's value lies in relationships, personal growth, and helping others, not material possessions or traditional success metrics. Prioritize family, personal well-being, and giving back.

Life is unpredictable, and the value of relationships, personal growth, and helping others surpasses material possessions and traditional notions of success. The speaker shares how some people have significantly impacted her life without even realizing it, and she strives to give back in various ways, including mentoring and contributing to communities. She also emphasizes the importance of prioritizing family and personal well-being. The speaker's perspective on money is unique, recognizing its importance for investments and essential expenses, but acknowledging that material possessions do not guarantee happiness or impact on recovery from adversity. She engages in free activities when it aligns with her values and interests, and she builds assets, such as her podcast, with a long-term vision, understanding that the intangible benefits may outweigh the financial rewards.

    • Building assets for financial securityInvesting in property, creating content, and having multiple sources of income can provide financial stability and peace of mind.

Building assets, whether it's through creating content like podcasts or investing in property, is essential for financial security and reducing vulnerability. The speaker shares her personal experience of investing in property after attending a course, which led to a successful venture with her husband. She also emphasizes the importance of having multiple sources of income and being prepared for life's uncertainties. The speaker's background of losing her eyesight and health made her realize that no one is immune to adversity, leading her to write extensively and eventually build a career out of it. Overall, the key takeaway is that having a diverse range of assets and income streams can provide financial stability and peace of mind.

    • Overcoming Rejection through PersistencePersistence and determination can lead to success, even in a saturated market. Continuously refreshing content and effective marketing are essential.

Persistence and determination, even in the face of repeated rejection, can lead to great success. The speaker, despite being rejected by publishers for over a year, continued to send out her manuscript and eventually found success when she gained a platform through a documentary. Her first book became a bestseller, and she was able to turn writing into a career. However, even in a saturated market like self-help, it's important to continually reinvent and refresh content to stand out. The speaker's ability to market her books effectively also played a significant role in her success.

    • Persistence and resilience in publishingRejection is a learning opportunity, adapting to the evolving publishing landscape is crucial, and finding the right publisher can make all the difference in a writer's success.

Persistence and resilience are key in the publishing industry. Rejection is a common experience for writers, but it doesn't have to be a dead end. Instead, it can be an opportunity to learn, grow, and build a stronger platform before finding success. The publishing landscape is constantly evolving, and it's essential for writers to adapt and stay relevant to their audience. Additionally, finding the right fit with a publisher can make all the difference in the success of a book. As the speaker shared, they faced numerous rejections before finding a publisher that believed in their work. But even after finding success, it's crucial to continue creating and evolving to meet the changing needs and preferences of readers. Ultimately, the publishing journey is a marathon, not a sprint, and perseverance and adaptability are essential qualities for writers to thrive.

    • Mastering book writing through unique perspective and commercial relevanceConfidence is not fixed and everyone experiences fluctuations. Focus on self-improvement and learning from others to build confidence.

True mastery in writing a book lies in finding a unique perspective on existing themes while ensuring commercial relevance. Confidence, an area often discussed, is not a fixed trait but rather a result of acceptance and continuous learning. It's essential to remember that everyone, regardless of appearance or accomplishments, experiences confidence fluctuations. Comparing ourselves to others often contributes to a lack of confidence, but it's important to recognize that no one is confident in every aspect of their lives. Instead, we should focus on improving ourselves and learning from others who may appear more confident but still have their own insecurities and challenges.

    • Embrace self-acceptance and confidenceRecognize strengths and weaknesses, focus on values, remember rejection doesn't define us, use social media responsibly, everyone's journey is unique, and we all have the power to grow.

Confidence and self-acceptance are crucial in navigating life's challenges, including social media comparison. We all have strengths and weaknesses, and it's essential to recognize that everyone presents a filtered version of their lives online. Comparison can be a significant waste of energy, and it's essential to focus on our values and what defines us, rather than external validation. Rejection is a common experience, and it's important to remember that it doesn't define us. Instead, we should stay centered and focused on our goals and values. Social media can be a powerful tool for connection and inspiration, but it's essential to use it responsibly. Ultimately, it's essential to remember that everyone's journey is unique, and we all have the power to overcome challenges and grow.

    • Learning from rejection and failureEmbrace rejection and failure as opportunities for growth and resilience, and teach children to do the same.

Rejection and failure are inevitable parts of life, whether it's in personal relationships or business endeavors. It's essential to learn how to move forward and not let these experiences define us. We should strive for growth and resilience instead of building a predictable, safe life with minimal hurt and rejection. Parenting plays a significant role in teaching children about the realities of life, and it's crucial to have open and honest conversations with them. We should also learn to accept feedback and criticism as opportunities for improvement, rather than personal attacks. Ultimately, life is a mix of brutal and beautiful experiences, and it's essential to embrace the ups and downs.

    • The Overwhelming Impact of Technology on Productivity and HealthTechnology can lead to distractions, stress, and health issues. Balance usage with self-care and respect individual differences.

Technology, while providing numerous benefits, can also lead to overwhelming distractions and stress. The speaker shares her experience of being addicted to various apps, including social media and WhatsApp, leading to long hours of usage and feelings of being overwhelmed by the constant demands and expectations. She also mentions the negative impact of technology on her health, including potential causes of cancer due to stress and anxiety. Despite her productivity and satisfaction from being busy, she recognizes the importance of taking time to slow down and meditate, as advised by her doctor. The speaker also acknowledges the need to respect individual differences and not expect everyone to work or live at the same pace as herself. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of balancing technology use with self-care and understanding the unique needs and preferences of others.

    • Recognizing unique skills and roles in a teamEffective teams require diverse skills and perspectives. Delegate tasks based on strengths and let go of ego to build a successful team.

Building a successful team requires recognizing and appreciating the unique skills and roles of each team member, rather than expecting everyone to be just like you. The speaker shares his personal experience of learning this lesson, emphasizing the importance of having a balanced team with diverse skills and perspectives. He also highlights the importance of delegating tasks and letting go of ego to build an effective team. The speaker concludes by sharing how recognizing the strengths and weaknesses of others can lead to greater success for everyone involved.

    • Understanding Emotional StrugglesRecognize that depression and emotional struggles aren't about wealth or circumstances, practice self-awareness and empathy, and understand that vulnerability and therapy can lead to growth and self-discovery.

Depression and other emotional struggles are not about a person's wealth or circumstances, and it's important to practice self-awareness and empathy when dealing with someone going through a tough time. People may lash out in anger, but it's not personal. We've all been there, and it's essential to recognize that these emotions often stem from within. Vulnerability and therapy can be powerful tools for growth and self-discovery, even if it's scary to open up and be vulnerable. Being honest about our feelings and doing the right thing are the foundation of meaningful connections. Despite our fears and nervousness, taking risks and pushing ourselves out of our comfort zones can lead to significant personal growth and making a difference in people's lives.

    • Nervousness and self-doubt can be beneficialEmbrace nervousness and self-doubt, view criticism as growth, and focus on authentic delivery.

Experiencing nervousness and self-doubt before performing or speaking in public is a common feeling, even for those who have done it many times. This nervousness can actually be beneficial, making the performer more relatable and passionate. Critics and negative reviews are a part of life and should be seen as an opportunity for growth rather than a personal attack. The purpose of a critic is to keep us in balance and prevent our egos from growing too large. While it's important to strive for constructive criticism, it's also essential to remember that everyone's opinion is subjective and not everyone will agree or connect with what we have to offer. Ultimately, the best approach is to be the best version of ourselves and focus on delivering our message authentically and passionately, regardless of the potential criticism.

    • Communicating effectively with critics and challengesFocus on what's behind criticism, learn and grow, manage emotions, prioritize goals, and seek help when needed.

Effective communication and managing emotions are crucial in dealing with critics and challenges in life. People may communicate in ways that are not ideal or convenient for us, but it's essential to acknowledge their intentions and focus on the potential truth behind their words. By doing so, we can learn, grow, and even express gratitude. Additionally, it's important to remember that we cannot control how others communicate or the timing of their actions. Instead, we should prioritize our missions and goals, and seek help when needed, while also managing our business affairs and being commercially aware to avoid unfair exchanges. Ultimately, embracing communication and managing our emotions can lead to personal growth and success.

    • Building meaningful connections and having insightful conversations can lead to personal growth and successFocus on meeting cool people and having insightful conversations for personal growth and success. Authenticity, determination, and the right approach can help anyone build a following and make a difference.

Building meaningful connections and having interesting conversations can lead to personal growth and success, even if you don't come from a traditional celebrity background. As discussed, feeling taken advantage of or experiencing resentment can hinder progress. Instead, focus on meeting cool people and having insightful conversations, as these experiences can apply to various industries and aspects of life. PR and leveraging media can also be valuable tools for getting your message out there, especially when you have a compelling story or unique perspective to share. The success of a PR strategy can depend on various factors, including your background and the resources available to you. For instance, someone who starts a business and works their way up may face different challenges than someone who comes from a celebrity background. However, with determination and the right approach, anyone can build a following and make a difference in the world. The story of creating a charity from a personal hardship and turning it into a successful clinic is a testament to this idea. Ultimately, the key is to stay authentic, engage with people at different levels, and use your unique experiences and talents to make a positive impact.

    • Maintaining boundaries and prioritizing self-care in personal brandingBuilding a personal brand on social media can lead to opportunities and recognition, but it's crucial to give people respect, set limits, and prioritize self-care. Use authenticity, assertiveness, and internal/external PR strategies. Balance public engagement with private life and be truthful and respectful in interactions.

Building a personal brand through social media can lead to significant opportunities and recognition, but it's essential to maintain boundaries and prioritize self-care. The speaker, who has built a successful personal brand through sharing her experiences with trauma, emphasizes the importance of giving people time and respect, while also setting limits to protect her personal life. She uses a combination of internal and external PR strategies, and encourages authenticity and assertiveness in communication. The speaker also acknowledges the challenges of balancing public engagement with private life, and the importance of being truthful and respectful in interactions. Ultimately, she emphasizes the importance of self-care and setting boundaries to maintain a healthy work-life balance.

    • Authenticity and vulnerability: when and how to use themBe authentic and vulnerable, but consider the context and people involved. Strike a balance between honesty and discretion.

Honesty and authenticity are essential, but their application can vary depending on the situation and the people involved. While being open and vulnerable can be beneficial, there are also instances where maintaining a facade is necessary to protect oneself and manage expectations. The speaker emphasizes the importance of being aware of the context and the people around us, and the need to strike a balance between honesty and discretion. The speaker also shares her personal experience of the challenges she faced in being vulnerable in areas where she was expected to be strong and successful, and the liberating feeling of acknowledging her struggles to those closest to her. Ultimately, the key takeaway is that authenticity and vulnerability are important, but they need to be used wisely and thoughtfully, taking into account the specific context and the people involved.

    • Understanding personal values shapes our perspectives on money and possessionsSelf-awareness is crucial in shaping our relationship with money and material possessions, as everyone's experiences and values differ.

Labels and external definitions, such as inspirational, strong, or brave, can sometimes be more hindrance than help. People's interpretations of success and inspiration differ, and it's essential to be honest with ourselves about our motivations and desires. Regarding materialism, the speaker admires those who aren't focused on money but acknowledges that they are driven by it. Money can provide security, freedom, and emotional connections to spiritual or meaningful items. However, it's crucial to remember that everyone has unique preferences and attachment to material possessions. The speaker, for instance, values the emotional connection to high-end fashion and watches but doesn't keep them long-term. Instead, they borrow or rent them for events and pass them on. Ultimately, the conversation highlights the importance of self-awareness and understanding that individual experiences and values shape our perspectives on money and material possessions.

    • Investing is personal: experiences and values shape choicesExperiences and values shape how we invest and view money as a unit of exchange, store of value, and hedge against uncertainty.

Our relationship with money and what we choose to invest in is a personal decision shaped by our experiences and values. The speaker shares how she feels about investing in art, fashion, and food, drawing parallels between supporting artists and fan funding. She emphasizes that for her, investing in health and longevity is a priority, justifying her high food bill. Her past experiences with having and losing money have influenced her perspective on money as a universal exchange of value, a unit of account, a store of value, and a hedge against an uncertain future. Ultimately, her unique experiences have shaped her investment choices and her attitude towards money.

    • Understanding emotions and values towards moneyMoney is a tool with emotional significance. Understanding our relationship with it can lead to better financial decisions and greater generosity.

Our relationship with money is deeply personal and complex, shaped by our experiences, emotions, and values. Money itself is neutral, but the meaning we attach to it can bring us joy, guilt, fear, or other emotions. Having a good relationship with money involves understanding these emotions and using money to help others and improve our own lives. Wealth and generosity are not always linked, and some of the most generous people may be poor, while some of the least generous may be wealthy. Ultimately, our relationship with money is a reflection of our own experiences and perspectives. For some, money may be a source of security and protection, while for others, it may be a means to create and share value with others. It's important to remember that money is a tool, and how we use it is up to us.

    • Understanding the importance of money and timeMoney and time are valuable currencies. Prioritize spending them on what matters most, invest wisely, and find balance in taking risks.

Everyone has unique reasons for how they use money, and it's essential to have a good relationship with it. Money can fulfill basic needs and provide happiness and fulfillment. It's not wrong to use it to feel worthy or to invest in things that matter most to us, such as education or health. Time is also a valuable currency, and prioritizing how we spend it is crucial. The best advice received was to not waste time on unimportant things with important people, while the worst advice was to avoid taking risks altogether. Ultimately, it's essential to find a balance and take measured risks that align with our values and abilities. The world's complex issues, such as politics and society, require ongoing debate and improvement.

    • Staying true to oneself despite societal pressureAuthenticity builds meaningful connections and avoiding disconnect by presenting false self, drawing inspiration from figures like Ricky Gervais.

Being disruptive means being unapologetically yourself, even when others may not accept or understand you. This was a recurring theme in the podcast discussion. The speaker shared her experiences of defying societal expectations and being true to herself, despite potential backlash. She drew inspiration from figures like Ricky Gervais, who boldly showcases his authentic self on social media. The speaker emphasized the importance of authenticity in forming genuine connections with others and avoiding the disconnect that can result from presenting a false version of oneself. She also highlighted the challenges of being disruptive when one's appearance or circumstances make it difficult to blend in, as was the case for her during her recovery from a severe disfigurement. Overall, the discussion underscored the power of staying true to oneself and the importance of authenticity in building meaningful relationships.

    • Embracing the Past for Personal GrowthAccepting and learning from past experiences, even the difficult ones, is crucial for personal growth and self-acceptance.

Accepting and embracing our past, even the difficult parts, is essential for personal growth and becoming the strong person we are today. Rob and Mark also discuss why they feel the UK has gone soft, the impact big money and financing has made to football and more incredible stories from his career as a footballer and presenter.

    Mark Lawrenson Reveals:

    • Why the BBC Sacked him
    • The differences between male and female football
    • Why TV and the country has gone ‘too soft’
    • What it was like to play for Liverpool
    • Why being told he couldn’t play football drove him to his ultimate success
    • The negative impact of big money and finance on football
    • A shocking story surrounding Maxwell's alleged murder by Mossad

    BEST MOMENTS

“Really good [football] commentary makes a huge difference”

    “The country is knackered”

"Bob Paisley comes down from upstairs, takes him a couple of minutes and everything. Walks in. Complete hush, respect... Where's Alan Kennedy? And one of the lads had gone, 'Oh, he's over here.' So, Bob strolled over and looked at him, and he said, 'Do you know what, Alan? They shot the wrong fucking Kennedy.'"

"I'd get slaughtered sometimes, fair enough, doesn't particularly bother me. And then I'd meet somebody and then they say to me, 'Oh you're completely different from what you, when you're commentating,' and I go, 'No I'm not. I'm just the same.'"

"One of the problems with the BBC was that they don't really understand things like you've been a footballer and sometimes you get left out. And you get taken off the pitch. And it's as though they can't tell you the bad news."

"My biggest disruption was my mum leaving us... We never knew. My mum always said to us, 'You, I'll never tell you what happened, but you would have done the same thing.'"

"Robert Maxwell owns Derby, Kevin Maxwell owns Oxford... He looked at me and he said, 'What's your problem?' I imagine that, and it just all came out, and I called him every name under the sun. And he looked at me, and he went, 'I quite like you actually.'”

How to Know if it’s Your Ego or Your Intuition Talking

How to Know if it’s Your Ego or Your Intuition Talking

How can you tell when it’s your head (ego) or your intuition (heart) that’s guiding you? Most of the time, we function from our head choosing situations that are the safest and protecting us even though our gut might tell us something different.

In order to know when it’s our intuition or ego, we have to first learn how to turn up the volume of our intuition. Sometimes our intuition talks through a feeling, sometimes through a flash of an image or idea, sometimes it’s just through a thought.

In today's episode, I’m going to share with you how you can start today by checking in with your intuition to answer any questions in life and how to be able to tell the difference. I’ll also give you guidance on how you can regularly clear out your own energy to keep you feeling grounded and clear.
