    (3) “Collective Wisdom, Collaborating and How your Voice is Essential” story with María Cecilia Quaglino

Cecilia lives in the center of Argentina, in a region that is a wetland, having one of the biggest rivers in South America. She is an environmental advocate, a COP26 Youth Delegate & COP27 Young Negotiator.

As a student, she spent many years learning about the importance of her lands, about how rich the biodiversity was, and how her Indigenous ancestors used to live from what they could get from the ground.

However, due to climate change, in 2020, Argentina experienced the worst drought in history. It stopped raining, and they are still suffering from the driest season of all time. Slowly, they’ve seen nature die, and later on that year, agriculture took over all those lands, put it on fire and they are growing meat where they used to have one of the richest wildlife in the country.

    What lessons did she learn?

How has resilience taught her core values?

How does she see the world of tomorrow?

Cecilia will take you into her history, her culture and how from a devastating event her resilience made her learn an essential life lesson, full of positive action and hope for the future that you can make your own.

#262 If This Man Can Change, Anyone Can - Armed Robber to Record Breaking Athlete: John McAvoy (Re-release)

CAUTION ADVISED: this podcast contains swearing.

Is there a change you’d like to make in your life? Something you’re desperate to overcome, but can’t see how? Or a goal you’re scared to aim for, because it feels too far off? My guest on this week’s podcast might just convince you to have a go. He’s John McAvoy, endurance athlete extraordinaire, author and the man with one of the most inspirational stories I have ever heard.

John was born into a notorious crime family and has served a total of 10 years in some of the UK’s highest security prisons, for armed robbery. He was raised into a life of organised crime and, as a teenager, it was the only career path he could see for himself. In fact, he bought his first gun at the age of 16 and very quickly became one of the UK’s most wanted men. How did he go from serving two life sentences to breaking British and World sporting records and giving talks to schoolchildren? From violent criminal to opinion leader, invited to 10 Downing Street for his views on the justice system? You’ll have to listen and find out.

Not only is every part of John’s story worthy of a Hollywood movie script, the lessons and life advice he shares are relevant to each and every one of us. Whether you’re interested in his rowing and Ironman success, how he transformed his moral code or how he overcame adversity, this really is a compelling conversation. I know you’re going to be as gripped by John as I was.

How sound can save a rare bird with an AI assist

On this episode we speak with Oliver Metcalf, lead author of a new study using bioacoustics and machine learning (artificial intelligence or "AI") to study a very rare bird in New Zealand. We play some recordings of the beautiful hihi bird that illustrate the success of a last ditch reintroduction effort for this species (and in a place) that are otherwise very difficult to monitor. The findings suggest that bioacoustics can play a key role in assessing the effectiveness of conservation efforts.

Spencer Klavan is a scholar, writer, and podcaster who has harbored a lifelong devotion to the great works and principles of the West. Now an editor at the Claremont Institute, he has written for many outlets, including The Atlantic, the Los Angeles Times, City Journal, Newsweek, the Claremont Review of Books, The Federalist, The American Mind, and The Daily Wire.

But every crisis we face today we have faced—and surmounted—before.
