    About this Episode

Happy Mother's Day!   Rebecca announces she supports all blue people, and we talk about the Chinese Long March 5b rocket that made it's way (we think) to Earth, somewhere in the Indian Ocean.  We poke a little fun at the gays, because we can. We laugh at Rebecca sending Ann a used Valentine's Day card and other cute marital things each other does. It's a big show, we cover the alleged doping scandal from this year's Kentucky Derby, new binge worthy shows and Rebecca's philosophy of more is better and mine of less is more.

Mr. Bill Makes a Christmas Appearance, Icy Roads and Medicinal Whiskey

Christmas is past, by just two days, and we're still in the glow of the holiday.  Like all good parents of adult children, we took ours to the ferry this morning, braving icy roads - and having made it back alive, we promptly went to the liquor cabinet for a bracing shot (or two) of whiskey.  This episode is a short ramble about weather, canceled flights, Mr. Bill and of course, whiskey.

Our podcast recommendation  this week is Chicks on the Right - if you like funny, topical humor, these two women are for you!

The Great Christmas Tree Debate...Flockage, Bugs, Owls & Snakes

The Great Christmas Tree Debate...Flockage, Bugs, Owls & Snakes

It's the week before Christmas and the real vs artificial tree debate lives on.  Rebecca talks about how she has evolved from the thrill of the hunt for the perfect real tree (a/k/a old and stodgy) while  Ann misses the traditional green tree (despite the bugs, and the occasional owl or snake).  And of course, we get into a spirited debate about how our flocked tree is either perfect or losing it's luster!  You decide - we'll post a photo our tree in all  its failing flockage glory on the Moderately Prepared Facebook page and you let us know what you think.
Our shoutout for podcast of the week goes to the She Thinks podcast - always interesting and thought provoking.   And finally, we hope you and yours have a wonderful holiday, however you celebrate!

Alpha Charlie Charlie, Holiday Movies, and Rebecca Can't Sing...Seriously

Alpha Charlie Charlie, Holiday Movies, and Rebecca Can't Sing...Seriously

What is Alpha Charlie Charlie?  You'll have to listen to find out what that means.
Rebecca can't sing, though she continues to do so.  She's got the holiday spirit, even if it is off key.  Yet, her singing may be the best part of today's podcast.
We talk about some of our favorite holiday movies - and folks, there are a lot of them!   We share some of our favorites from childhood and today, and yes, Rebecca continues to sing.
As always, we're moderately prepared, and today it shows!
Ann gives a big shout out to the University of Cincinnati Bearcats for making it into the College Football Playoffs.
Our podcast of the week: The Calm Down Podcast with Erin Andrews and Charissa Thompson.  If you like sports and smart women, you'll love their podcast.

We're back, Britney Spears is free and Ann is an attempted murderer

We're back, Britney Spears is free and Ann is an attempted murderer

We're back!  We took a creative hiatus...at least that's our story.   And now we're back and more moderately prepared than ever.  Our podcasts will now be 10 to 15 minutes in length, more like "podcastettes."  We think it'll more interesting for you, the listener, and we're lazy.  It takes a lot less work to edit 15 minutes of moderate brilliance.
While we were on a podcasting break, the world shifted - Britney Spears is now free to spend her money any way she likes.  And we're all about that - she earned it after all.
Apparently, according to Rebecca (a highly unreliable source), I tried to kill her.  Living up to the moderately prepared standard, I failed.   That's probably a good thing as I think she's getting me a really great birthday present.
So yes, we are back, and excited to set the podcasting bar even lower this time.

What would *you* do for love? I don't think a little duct tape is asking too much...

What would *you* do for love? I don't think a little duct tape is asking too much...

Just how what lengths would you go to for love? For Ann....it seems that duct taping flashlights on her car to get to the airport is a step too far. (Weak).  And Rebecca, does what it takes to keep her wife safe. Then, we must cover the randomness that is life including SpaceX, May the 4th and Cocoa Beach and living off the grid in Alaska.  Ann announces she in uncancelable (this may be a new word).  Rebecca tries to embrace her inner Borg. We're extremely moderately prepared, so no need to hang onto your seat, just sit back with a drink and enjoy!

Girl Scout Cookies, March Madness, The Stairs Get Joe and A Rambling Bunch of Crap

Girl Scout Cookies, March Madness, The Stairs Get Joe and A Rambling Bunch of Crap

Welcome to more Moderately Prepared content!  It's the second day of Spring and we could barely get out of our way for today's podcast.  We receive a reprieve for tax season - for all you procrastinators out there, you can now put filing your taxes off to May 17.  March Madness is back and Ann's bracket has already blown up  - but we're thrilled to see it back.
The stairs to Air Force One got the best of the President, and the memes are abundant.  Our thoughts are with the President, as we're fairly sure that second fall hurt like hell.
This week we provide a COVID vaccine update and if you'd like to own your island in Scotland, click here to learn more: Scottish island for sale with opening bid of $111,700 - UPI.com.
We think it's Girl Scout Cookie season, but what do we know?  Rebecca love thin mints, and I don't - that's about all you need to know.

Did you REALLY rescue your dog? St. Patricks Day American Style, Daylight Savings Time and a purely hypothetical situation that did not actually occur

This week we tackle big and inconsequential issues.   It's daylight savings time, and we talk about why it's probably no longer relevant and how it makes Ann feel hungover.  We do a deep dive into  President Biden's dogs and discuss exactly what a rescue dog is - Rebecca asks 'did you repel down a mountain side for that dog?'  We're all for Champ and Major making their way back to the White House.

And yes, we cover the Meghan and Harry interview with Oprah, our apologies in advance!  We of course come to no useful or productive conclusion at the end of the discussion.  Everyone is talking about it, and figured we might as well too.  It inspired us to create a new segment for the podcast, Trash Topic of the Week.  Each Trash Topic will explore something that has no societal benefit at all.

St. Patrick's Day is coming - a truly American occasion replete with green beer and poor judgement.  So enjoy!

Cat Loyalty, Zoom Meetings, All Peanut Butter Reeces cups, and Thank you Jodi Foster & Aaron Rodgers

Cat Loyalty, Zoom Meetings, All Peanut Butter Reeces cups, and Thank you Jodi Foster & Aaron Rodgers

This week we dive deep into cat loyalty, or the lack thereof.  Rebecca is looking for the back story behind Green Bay's Aaron Rodgers and Award-winning actress Jodi Foster thanking each other. I want to know the backstory!! And as people are working at home with the pandemic, more and more of us are doing Zoom meeting so we laugh at Zoom meeting comedy and Zoom fails.  We touch on the upcoming Harry and Meghan interview with Oprah - does anyone really care? Rebecca says YES!  And Reeces is coming out with an all peanut butter cup, that's right, no chocolate and that's just wrong.

Join us next week, when we talk about daylight savings, national food holidays and other interesting and useless topics.
