MTGM EXTRA! "I can't picture my future with anyone else."

    enApril 03, 2024

    Podcast Summary

    • Importance of self-awareness and authenticity in comedy worldRecognize when to stay in your lane and when to step back, be authentic and considerate of others while expressing oneself in the comedy world.

Everyone has the ability to explore new talents and abilities, but it's important to recognize when to stay in your lane and when to step back. In the podcast episode, Mitra and Levi discussed their experiences with comedians and the snobbish nature of the comedy world. Mitra shared an instance where she wanted to comment on a post by Spenny, but held back due to her own insecurities about not being a comedian. Spenny was receiving negative comments about his appearance, and Mitra felt responsible because she had joked about his looks in the past. This episode highlights the importance of self-awareness and taking responsibility for the impact of our words and actions. It also emphasizes the importance of authenticity and staying true to oneself, even in the face of criticism or abuse. Ultimately, everyone has the right to express themselves and explore new talents, but it's crucial to do so in a way that is authentic and considerate of others.

    • Appreciating life's simple pleasures amidst personal growth and transformationWhile navigating life's transformations and challenges, cherish the beauty of simple joys like swimming in a lake or admiring a stay-at-home mom's dedication.

The speaker and her friend Natasha are discussing the physical transformation of a man, and while the speaker finds it impressive, Natasha expresses concern. The conversation takes place in a noisy environment, and they reminisce about swimming in Lake Michigan. The speaker's aunt is in town, and they discuss her French lessons. The speaker also mentions her past experience living in Chicago and the difficulty of learning a new language without being fully immersed. The conversation then shifts to Eva Mendes and her decision to be a stay-at-home mom, which the speaker admires. Despite the various topics covered, the underlying theme is the appreciation of life's simple pleasures and the challenges of personal growth.

    • Physical Attraction and Desirable MenDesirable men have a significant impact on relationships through physical attraction. Hand modeling and hand size were discussed as examples of physical attributes that can influence perceptions and experiences.

The discussion touched upon the topic of desirable men and their behaviors, as well as the impact of physical attributes in relationships. Eva Mendes and Ryan Gosling were mentioned as examples of attractive celebrities, and the conversation explored the idea of "man babies" and their ability to sustain relationships. The speaker shared an experience of meeting someone on dating apps and how she felt drawn to his hands. The conversation also touched upon the topic of hand modeling as a separate genre and the speaker's experience with having her hands replaced in ads due to their size. Overall, the discussion highlighted the importance of physical attraction and the role it plays in relationships and various aspects of life.

    • Unexpected challenges at a weddingClear communication and setting boundaries are crucial for a smooth wedding experience. Addressing concerns and ensuring respect for both parties can prevent potential issues.

Weddings can present unexpected challenges, and it's essential to communicate effectively to ensure a smooth experience. During my wedding to Spenny in Scotland, we encountered an issue with the officiant's curly hair obstructing the photos. While it was an inconvenience, I was a pregnant bride and focused on getting through the ceremony. However, Spenny had consumed alcohol before the wedding, which raised concerns about consent. Despite this, we didn't focus on it and moved on. The nighttime activities were average, and in the morning, Spenny's mother brought him lunch and kissed him, making me feel like a third wheel. This behavior continued, with his mother taking care of him like a child. Spenny was a delegator, paying others to solve his problems. While it might seem convenient, it left me feeling undervalued and disrespected. In hindsight, clear communication and setting boundaries could have prevented some of these issues. It's crucial to address any concerns and ensure both parties feel respected and valued on their wedding day.

    • A mother's influence on her child's habits and understanding of the worldA mother's unique parenting style can shape her child's habits, from cleanliness to cooking, and instill values like consistency and dedication.

The upbringing and influence of a mother can significantly shape an individual's habits and understanding of the world. The discussion revolved around a friend named Alexander, who grew up with some peculiar habits due to his mother's unique parenting style. For instance, she failed to teach him basic household chores like washing towels, leading him to develop an unconventional approach to cleanliness. Furthermore, she instilled in him a strong sense of consistency by allowing him to eat spaghetti bolognese for almost the entire week. Another interesting aspect was the way she taught him cooking, which he found therapeutic and enjoyable. Despite the unusual circumstances, these habits reflected a level of dedication and focus that some might consider admirable. The conversation also touched upon the impact of cultural differences, as the speakers were comparing their experiences in America and the UK. Overall, the conversation underscored the profound impact that a mother's role can have on her child's development and daily life.

    • Navigating Long-Distance Relationships and Personal GrowthLong-distance relationships can be challenging, but sometimes the underlying issues are not distance-related. Self-awareness and emotional intelligence are crucial in determining if a relationship is worth saving or if it's time to focus on personal growth.

Sometimes, relationships can't withstand the test of time and distance. The speaker in this conversation moved abroad for work and ended up breaking up with her partner after three months. It wasn't the distance that caused the relationship to end, but rather the fact that they were on different paths. They had been having issues before she moved away, and both needed time apart to deal with their personal problems. Despite feeling stuck and unsure about moving on, the speaker acknowledges that she was quite far along in her journey and that she should focus on enjoying her life and experiencing new things. The speaker also recognizes that trying to force a rebound relationship may not be the best solution when one is still emotionally connected to an ex. Overall, the conversation highlights the importance of self-awareness, emotional intelligence, and taking the time to focus on personal growth when navigating the complexities of relationships.

    • Love and intimacy enhance sex experienceHealing from past relationships takes time, but new experiences can lead to growth. Love and intimacy make sex more meaningful.

The connection and intimacy shared in a relationship significantly impact the experience of sex. When you're in love, sex is different and more meaningful than with a stranger. Breakups can be painful, and it may take time to move on. However, it's essential to be kind to yourself and treat new experiences as opportunities for growth. Even if you've felt hopeless and convinced you'd never recover, time can heal wounds, and you may eventually find that you've moved on. Remember, everyone's journey is unique, and there's no set timeline for healing or finding love again.

Bill Stierle: Become a Better Communicator! – Part 2

Do you sometimes feel overwhelmed or depressed? Did you know if you feel overwhelmed, you may have an underlying need for clarity? Would you like to be a better communicator and able to express and understand these needs? To further explain the concept of “needs-based” communication, Lisa continues her conversation today with Communications Specialist and Expert Coach Bill Stierle. Bill explains the importance of generating empathy before immediately offering ideas and solutions.

He also discusses the ideas of trauma, mourning, and celebration. He believes that trauma prevents us from mourning. If we cannot fully mourn, then we also cannot eventually celebrate. He asks us to examine these feelings. Bill is also an expert Parenting Coach and invites us to find out why children may say, “No” as a response to what you are asking. By being empathetic and compassionate first, this will help you determine their missing needs.

Bill Stierle has been working with individuals, couples, and families for more than 30 years. He has coached thousands of people and has taught numerous workshops locally and nationally on topics that address personal and professional effectiveness, relationships, and parenting. The material Bill presents is designed for people who want to create more ease and effectiveness within their relationships, both at home and work. His latest book is “The Emotional Sobriety Solution: Have More Joy in Your Life in Less Than 30 Days.” This is Part 2 of the interview. Info: BillStierle.com.
