    ABOUT THE HOST

A few years ago, Margaret underwent several life-threatening traumas, including domestic abuse, and almost killed by her ex-partner, kidney and brain cancer, mental health issues, and a near-death experience. Her life was encapsulated in darkness, and she welcomed the thought of dying. From a breakdown to a breakthrough, these words from Viktor Frankl’s book, Man's Search For Meaning, changed her life forever: “The existence of life is to suffer; to survive is to find meaning in suffering.” Once she became aware of this, her life changed, and choose to live each day like it's her last…

    Why Vulnerability Is A Necessity

    Why Vulnerability Is A Necessity

Margaret talks about why it is okay to be vulnerable when it comes to our emotions, and how nature's very own vulnerability might hold the key to being more resilient through its own vulnerability.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • When stress, fear and worry begin to creep in to you life, relax and let your mind sort through them in its own way. Be an observer.
    • Even nature knows that the best way to weather a storm is to allow yourself to be bent and shaped by the wind itself - to go with the flow.
    • Cultural norms dictate that vulnerability is something negative and to be avoided for fear of being criticised. But this is not the way to true growth.
    • Vulnerability is the core of all emotions, and we must face what it means to be truly vulnerable - shame, fear and struggle for worthiness - if we want to be fully human.

Loving And Healing with Breast Cancer

Loving And Healing with Breast Cancer

This week, Margaret is joined by yoga teacher, healer, mother, and guardian of love, Anna Love, whose mission is to empower the world through teaching them to embrace the art of self-love.

But the journey has not always been a simple one for Anna, having two years ago been diagnosed with breast cancer. In this episode, Anna shares the story of how she overcame one of life's most difficult hurdles through the power of nature and the vibrations of love.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Challenges such as cancer can always be re-framed as examples of our strength. Overcoming these things shows us what we are capable of.
    • Cancer patients are instantly categorised as victims and sufferers of fear. But everything in life is a choice, including factors such as this. We can choose to be a victim, or we can choose the path of healing and empowerment.
    • Intuition is a super power in itself. We have been conditioned not to obey the common sense that steers us through life. This needs to change.
    • There is nothing wrong with prioritising ourselves over others, especially when we are in a place of healing. Stop feeling guilty and look after yourself wholeheartedly.

    • Our ancestors were more aware of their womb and bodies including their menstrual cycles, allowing them to live in accordance with them. Modern life and things such as the contraceptive pill throw women off balance.

    • To truly heal yourself you need to have trust and faith in yourself and listen to yourself.
    • Sound healing helps bring up the stagnation of emotions, allowing yourself to heal from within.
    • We carry the pain of the generations that went before us.

    The Hidden World of Endometriosis

    The Hidden World of Endometriosis

Margaret is joined by intersectional gender specialist, Dr Gurpreet Kaur, to discuss her incredible journey as an endometriosis survivor, what the condition is and how it manifests within sufferers, and how we can best help those suffering with this condition.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Endometriosis is when the lining of the uterus grows externally to the uterus itself, implanting itself upon other organs in your pelvic area.
    • Sufferers of this condition endure an accumulation of blood, which cannot exit, and it can manifest itself as extreme pain and inflammation.
    • Endometriosis is far more common than we may believe, with over 190 million women suffering globally, amounting to one in ten women on the planet.
    • Because this is a hormonal condition, sufferers see a lot of weight fluctuation. This makes holding a stable weight almost impossible. It also brings on chronic fatigue, meaning that enthusiasm and daily tasks are made more difficult.

    BEST MOMENTS

'It is a reproductive issue that is very common'

'There was massive pain every month, to the point where I could not function'

    Surrender To Your Emotions

    Surrender To Your Emotions

We seem to live in a fix-it world. Margaret discusses why sometimes uncertainty or discomfort is exactly where we need to be. Why we should live an emotional existence, should give in to the voice of our heart for life's journey, how the lessons of nature itself can be applied to our own journey of change, and why embracing both negative and positive emotions can be the richest source of growth to help us learn far more about ourselves than we may have realised.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Life is made up of challenges that test our emotions. We are told that some of these emotional responses are bad and should be shunned. It's natural to want to avoid these emotions, but when we shun negatives, we also inevitably shun positives.
    • Only by embracing all emotions can we become fully-formed, high-functioning human beings. It's okay to feel sad, scared or anger. They teach us about ourselves.
    • Every difficult life situation can either result in fruitlessness and folly, or provide personal and spiritual growth. The result is up to us.
    • You always have three basic choices in how you respond to situations - to fight and tough it out, flee and not deal with it, or freeze and become numb.

    BEST MOMENTS

'There's no comfortable way to say this - sometimes life sucks'

'It's important to know that both types of emotions are necessary'

    'What you resist, persists'

Gang Raped At The Age Of 12

Gang Raped At The Age Of 12

This week, Margaret's special guest is Suku Moyo Mackenzie whose at-times horrifying story began with her gang rape at the tender age of twelve years old, an event which scarred her psychologically due to her anxiety about opening up with her story. After bottling it down deep inside, Suku suffered the ill after effects of PTSD, but now she has bravely chosen to share her tale, and by doing so, set herself firmly upon the road towards healing.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Sometimes those we trust the most can betray us in the most personal way. In this case, family members bonded together to commit a terrifying, horrific act upon an innocent child.
    • In order to speak our truth, we have to find a level of bravery that we may not be aware that we possess. Victims are often derided for not saying anything, but it takes time to build the courage required.
    • The most sickening part of a crime such as this, is that the perpetrators rarely show remorse, allowing their victim to suffer while they nonchalantly go on living.
    • The bravest of us are those who take the pains of the past and vow to use it as a force for good - to protect those who are in danger. This is how we heal.

    BEST MOMENTS

'You were always my protector, but now I need to be protected from you'

    ABOUT THE GUEST

Suku is a mother of 3, and a grandmother of 2. She is the founder of *Let’s Talk About It* and is a passionate Advocate of Abuse and Mental Health. The foundation was founded from the horrific trauma she experienced at the age of 12 when she was gang raped, and because she didn’t talk about it, the stress of the trauma turned into PTSD and attempted suicide.

That was the turning point where she decided to speak out and raise awareness, basically be the voice of the voiceless. Suku now works with youth and helps rescue abused children and adults, including finding a safe place for them to live. She also raises funds and supports the less privileged in communities. For her ongoing relentless courage in raising awareness of abuse and mental health issues, she has received many awards and has appeared on television and radio shows

How To Transform Your Life With Energy Healing

How To Transform Your Life With Energy Healing

Margaret is joined by energy healer and specialist, Sunita Kaur, to talk about the transformative, positive benefits we can bring to our lives through the gift that is energy healing, a practice that preaches the message of hope in life and love, and how all subconscious encouragement may be a message from those we have loved and lost in the past.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Theta is the ability to connect on a really high level through four strands - our core, our life, our thoughts and feelings.
    • Many feel a sense of disconnection or undeserving. Remember that you are truly important, unique and valuable to the world.
    • We may not believe the things that our family believe, but the belief systems we inherit from them live within our physical form.
    • When our ancestors communicate with us through time and space, it is with a need to protect and nurture us, and in so doing, ensure that their legacy can be carried on.

Brenda joins Margaret this week for an inspiring episode in which she talks candidly about how she elevated herself from traumatic beginnings to become a business powerhouse and a woman in total control of her own destiny.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • Sometimes the pull of destiny is so strong that it can encourage us to defy the accepted way of thinking and stake our claim to a better world.
    • When we put good into the world, the results blossom out into other arenas, causing a ripple effect of positivity.
    • Love is a growing thing. The more we plant, the healthier and stronger it grows in the world. Love begins at home and should be nurtured.
    • Vulnerability can be imbued with power. Strength can be founded upon weakness. Human beings are marvellously contradictory, which makes them all unique.

In this show, Birgit talks about her own experiences, and how she has harnessed the power of expression to bring positive light to herself and those around her.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • People these days are feeling a sense of pain, and are subconsciously searching for a way to heal. Sometimes the answer presents itself when we least expect it.
    • We all share some traits and senses of trauma. Through connecting with others we share the pain, but also share the healing effects.
    • We don't need to help the entire world, we just need to do what we can/ When we create positivity it is like planting seeds that grow and do the same for others. It has a rippling effect.

Masana and Margaret also talk about the ways in which spirituality, yoga and meditation practices, and deep understanding can help us to overcome the scars of trauma.

    KEY TAKEAWAYS

    • The finest and most effective way of discovering our own path in life and spirituality, is to be given the freedom to do so on our own. We are all unique beings and therefore our paths will be unique ones.
    • Each of us are blessed with a special gift in this world - that remarkable, once-in-a-lifetime thing that makes us special. Finding that one thing and sharing it with the world is our most special gift.
    • Each of us have experienced trauma, even if we are not consciously aware of it. Trauma is any damage caused to our personal essence, on a mental, physical, emotional or physical level.
    • Nature still has an abundance of lessons to teach to us. We have only scratched the surface of the gifts it can impart. We should remain open to the message of nature and listen when it tries to steer our society.
