Shape Shifting the Different Forms of Love

Shape Shifting the Different Forms of Love
The idea of polyamory–of opening up an intimate relationship to allow and support the exploration of others–may trigger skepticism from more than a few monogamous diehards. But do relationships look like outside the bounds of monogamy? How is love shared in different forms of partnerships, loverships, and friendships? And how do we individually cultivate a relationship with ourselves in the midst of all these other engagements? This episode is a big and gentle step back, a consideration of all the ways we love and have loved. Featured guest Phoebe Tucker and I roll around the idea of relationships in our hands, looking at it from different angles and opening up what is expected of intimate relationships.

    Introducing My Older Sister's Backseat

    Introducing My Older Sister's Backseat

I'm fourteen again, driving home from the local public high school, wedged in the backseat between backpacks and sports equipment. The driver is my sister. The passenger is her best friend. Outside the car, the trees and driveways of our suburb rush past; my head hurts. Inside the car, my body sinks into the seat, listening to the animated chatter around me. I say little, I let my eyes follow the flush of colors on the other side of my window, I listen a lot, I absorb, I feel myself soften. This is my older sister's backseat, this is where I learn, where I grow up.

My Older Sister's Backseat is dedicated to and created by the 'big siblings' who continue to teach and inspire, take risks and laugh, be vulnerable and bold.
