    Mayor Chance Mullen 02-26-2024

Chance Mullen is the Mayor of The Village of Pelham, New York.  The Village is proposing a $39 million dollar capital program to mitigate flooding that now affect 243 homes.  The problem dates back decades and is having its most profound impact on Pelham's historically redlined northern section.  So who is in the way of progress?  Not NIMBY's, not wealthy neighbors (because their basements are flooded too.)  The main opposition is coming from Pelham's Board of Education.

Hugh Schwartz and Carol Allen 1-29-2024

The Town of Greenburgh encompasses 6 villages and unincorporated hamlets and other areas including Edgemont and Hartsdale.  The Edgemont Incorporation Committtee has been trying for years to become Greenburgh's 7th village, something that has been opposed by many people in Greenburgh including its long-time Town Supervisor, Paul Finer.

The New York State Legislature passed a law making it harder to incorporate a village, and after the law was passed a deal was cut resulting in a "chapter amendment" that effectively carved out a narrow exemption, allow a possible path for Edgemont to form its own village.

In this interview Hugh Schwartz, an Edgemont resident opposed to Edgemont incorporation, and Carol Allen, a Hartsdale resident, also opposed, explain the contours of this matter.   There is a racial and economic fault line, within Greenburgh.

    George Latimer 1-23-2024

    George Latimer 1-23-2024

George Latimer is Westchester's County Executive and he's running for Congress against incumbent Jamaal Bowman.  The Democratic primary election is escalating into a debate between the center-left and the far-left.  In the center there's a trusty 70 year old professional politician who has spent half of his life in public service, winning election after election.  On the left left, Bowman is an African American incumbent on his second term in Congress.  "Member of Congress" was Bowman's entry point into the public arena.

Zionism is on the ballot.  There is simply no avoiding that fact.  In this interview Latimer defends accepting campaign financial assistance from AIPAC.

    Bobbie Anne Cox 1-8-2024

    Bobbie Anne Cox 1-8-2024

Bobbie Anne Cox is a New York attorney, with expertise in constitutional law.  She is leading a charge against election gerrymandering in New York State.  In this episode we talk about the process of redrawing Congressional district lines, and how this will impact elections profoundly, in 2024.

In December 2023 New York's Court of Appeals ruled that the Independent Redistricting Commission (IRC) should devise a Congressional map to remain in place for the remainder of this decade, beginning with the 2024 elections, which makes this an issue of high urgency.  Bobbie Anne Cox argues that the IRC should simply re-issue the map prepared by a Special Master in 2022.

Her organization, Stop NY Corruption, via its web site and other public communications, explains the background of this crucial issue.  You can subscribe to its email newsletter here:
