    About this Episode

Born in a cult and yet having recently broken the internet as a fun loving mom-influencer, Shannon Payton - aka Shannypants on your favourite social media platform- takes time to share her story with depth and vulnerability with me. Shannon's story is one of resilience and vulnerability.

Born in a cult that took over her life and freedom of thought and expression, she recalls how she and her family still managed to keep pushing the boundaries that did not fit them despite all external influences of their community. It's only at age 30 that Shannon and her husband managed to leave the cult, but the hardships were far from over.

One thing kept Shannon going through it all: the inner conviction that she was meant to do more and she did: from supporting people through tough real moments, to bringing joy and lightness to their daily lives. This episode will bring you so much more than you imagine, regardless of if you are or were involved in any way in a cult.

For the love of Pleasure, with Ylanga van Der Geld

When was the last time you spoke or thought about your sex life? Well maybe today is a good day to start as you listen to my conversation with Ylanga van der Geld, a sexologist who started her career as an oncologist and decided to explore the field of sexuality to support her patients' needs better. In our conversation, we start with how crucial sex education is to the wellbeing of every human and how it can be a comfortable and valuable topic to discuss with your loved ones.
You will leave this episode understanding how a sexologist can support all intimate relationships, starting with understanding yourself, your personal desires and boundaries. We also dive into the big L word - Libido - to understand what it's not and the real game changer in a better sex life: the overall concept of pleasure.  A concept that is still very much undervalued and surrounded by a lot of unnecessary shame.  At the end our conversation, we discuss some very interesting facts around how sexuality is experienced in both heterosexual and homosexual relations.  We touch on lots of very interesting topics most of people don't spend time thinking about and hopefully you will enjoy this time with us.

Curious to know more? You can find Ylanga at Toolsz to Touch ( Dutch only website but feel free to contact her!)

Restorative conversations: How to manage conflict in relationships, with Yolanda Jansen

Restorative conversations: How to manage conflict in relationships, with Yolanda Jansen

Many of us had to learn how to navigate relationships through our own personal hardships, and then at work, here we are leading a team, responsible for their performance and wellbeing and again most learn on the go, without much guidance or wisdom. In this episode, i invite Yolanda Jansen, facilitator of what she calls "restorative practices". She dedicates her time to supporting and guiding leaders in improving performance after conflict situations and having the difficult conversations that need to be had to reach a positive outcome.

As you listen to this conversation, we start with the fact that all relationships start with the relationship you have with yourself and how going deeper on understanding what triggers you, what you feel and what you expect can take more effort and yet yield the best results. It becomes very clear in our conversation that only then can one move forward and ask the right questions to the other person in the relationship. You will take away what makes a relationship, what the objectives of relationships are and what kind of relationships we can have and then what the steps are to manage one that is not going to way you want.

This conversation could go much deeper but for the sake of this podcast, we touch the tip of the iceberg on all these elements and hope you realise there is much more to unpack.  So reach out to Yolanda directly to chat or if you are more curious about some difficult relationships you would like to take to a more positive mutual beneficial space.

Share more, worry less with Nicolette Lazarus | In this conversation with the founder of Womanship, we discuss the findings of Nicolette's research around women's knowledge and awareness of their own life stages. From getting their period, to fertility to menopause, the challenge spans across ages and cultures. In this conversation, we voice the progress that needs to be made, in order for women to understand how their brains and  bodies work, but also about how women's minds function and the throughts that stop us from shifting the narrative around womens' health and well-being because of shame. It is with this ambition that Womanship was born: to create a safe community space to help women spend less time worrying and more time in an optimal state of well-being - by helping increase collective understanding and support of each other as women. With womanship, Nicolette hopes to normalise some of the taboo, but so often shared problems women face.

About the courage it takes to drive positive change in the world: Audry Bron.

About the courage it takes to drive positive change in the world: Audry Bron.

Audry grew up very aware of the importance of cultural diversity. But it’s only at a later age, that she decides to dedicate her life to this field of work. Originally from Suriname, during our conversation, she recalls the events that led her to move to The Netherlands and how she pursued her passion. Listening to this episode will bring you insights into Audry’s experience as she experienced the education system in the Netherlands as a surinamese and as she works hard every day to contribute to making strides in the diversity and inclusion space in the country one research at a time. Listening to her, you will be touched by the vulnerability and honest insights that Audry shares in our conversation, especially as she shares some hard truths and advice about what it means to be working in that field, the courage that it requires and the fulfilment it brings when you can drive culture change. But one thing is clear to her: every one of us has the ability to create impact in the world but communication is everything.

Dancing your way to life and love: meet Sabou.

When was the last time you let your body guide you to mental and physical health?

Well, take a minute to think about that, right after you have listened to Sabou, dancer, teacher and some might even call her body & mind energy guide. Sabou and i discuss the importance of listening to what your body and guts tell you and take the necessary steps to follow your instincts even if that means learning to say no or disappoint others.
But Sabou's journey has not always been easy and definitely not a straight line. You will hear how she fought until she could figure out where she felt most true to herself, happy and successful. And sometimes, owning her uniqueness and harnessing her natural flow of energy has been the only red thread through her journey.

One thing is for sure: after listening to her, you will feel full of energy, empowering spontaneity and a definite increased appetite for life!

My personal road to becoming an authentic gay man: Maddox

This part 2 of our conversation with Maddox If you haven't listened to part one where we dive on breaking the cycle of giving your power away, check out the previous episode.

On this part of our conversation, i start with asking him about his ambition with his very own podcast " the authentic gay man" in which he tackles the all too familiar feelings of isolation and loneliness. Maddox opens up about his personal experience in that space since coming out and admits to the ambivalent feelings of seeing the world move forward to gay acceptance and awareness.
This deeply personal conversation will leave you feeling blessed, thankful and connected to Maddox's purpose.

Important note to the listener: In this episode, Maddox refers to the support rallies transgender children and their safety which took place on March 2022.
