Sarah Grynberg - The Art of an Interview, Exploring the Unknown, and the Ultimate Power of Love

    en-usOctober 02, 2021

    Podcast Summary

    • Discovering deep connections through shared values and purpose onlineOnline connections can form deeply and authentically, as Moe and Sara's friendship shows, based on shared values and purpose, rather than physical proximity or appearance.

Connections can be formed deeply and authentically, even when people have never met in person. Moe Gaudet and Sara Greenberg, hosts of podcasts, met for the first time over Zoom and discovered their shared values and purpose. Despite not having met physically, their friendship grew stronger over time. Sara, who interviews celebrities on her podcast, "A Life of Greatness," and Moe, host of "Slow Mo," found a deep connection through their conversations about happiness and making the world better. They have continued to support each other and their shared mission, even during lockdowns. Their friendship shows that people connect on a deeper level through shared values and purpose, rather than physical proximity or appearance. It's a reminder that we are more essence and energy than physical forms.

    • The power of energy and curiosity in virtual interviewsBe genuinely interested, selective, and well-prepared to create authentic and vulnerable connections during virtual interviews.

Energy and curiosity are powerful tools in creating meaningful and impactful connections, even during virtual interactions. The speaker emphasizes the importance of being genuinely interested and selective in who they interview, ensuring a deep understanding of their subjects beforehand. This approach allows for a conversational flow that feels unstructured yet effective, enabling interviewees to open up and share deeply personal experiences. The speaker also values creating a sacred and comfortable space during interviews, allowing for authentic and vulnerable conversations. Ultimately, the speaker's approach demonstrates the value of curiosity, preparation, and empathy in building connections, regardless of the medium.

    • Exploring the Unique Perspectives on Happiness and GreatnessThe 'A Life of Greatness' podcast offers valuable and insightful conversations on life-changing topics, with the host's dedication resulting in over 200 episodes and expanding from bi-weekly to weekly releases.

Everyone's perspective on happiness, greatness, and other topics is unique, making each conversation in the "A Life of Greatness" podcast valuable and insightful, despite the similarities in topics. The podcast, which has been ongoing for over two years and has likely surpassed 200 episodes, has been a source of life-changing conversations for the host as well as the listeners. The host's dedication to the podcast is evident, as she has expanded it from bi-weekly to weekly releases, despite the significant workload. The conversations with various thought leaders and experts have had a profound impact on the host, with some interviews, such as the one with Caroline Mace, being revisited multiple times for their profound wisdom. The host's personal discomfort with listening to her own voice in slow motion and the challenge of limiting herself to one episode per week are just a few of the obstacles she has had to overcome in her commitment to sharing these inspiring conversations with the world.

    • Finding meaning and connection through deep conversations and personal growth during challenging timesDespite hardships, deep conversations and personal growth can bring joy, inspiration, and a sense of purpose. Embrace life's challenges, find peace with death, and live a life of purpose and service.

Even during challenging times like the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic and lockdowns, finding meaning and connection through deep conversations and personal growth can bring enlightenment and a sense of purpose. The speaker shares how their weekly interviews have been a source of joy and inspiration during the lockdowns, despite the hardships faced by many Australians. They also reflect on their own spiritual journey, which began with an early curiosity about the spiritual realm and eventually led them to study Kabbalah. The speaker encourages living a life of purpose and service, and finding peace with the idea of death, rather than fighting against life's challenges. The ongoing pandemic serves as a reminder to learn to live with adversity and find meaning in the present moment.

    • Hitting rock bottom can lead to personal growthExploring self-help books and spiritual practices can lead to profound personal transformation and new opportunities

Hitting rock bottom in life can lead to profound personal growth and transformation. The speaker shares her experience of feeling deeply unhappy in her dream job despite long hours and success, leading her to explore self-help books and spiritual practices. Through her dedication to practicing these new beliefs and laws, she experienced a rapid shift in her life, leading to a newfound sense of happiness and fulfillment. Interestingly, soon after her transformation, she was made redundant from her job, which she had come to despise, and saw it as a sign that it was time for her to move on and embrace the new opportunities that awaited her.

    • When we follow our spiritual growth and trust in the universe, synchronicities occur.Trusting in the universe and following spiritual growth can lead to unexpected and better opportunities.

Our prayers are always heard and answered, even if not in the way or time we expect. Sarah's story illustrates this beautifully. Feeling burnt out and desperate to keep her job while also wanting a better work-life balance, Sarah prayed for a nice company, nice colleagues, and part-time hours. The next day, she was offered a role as executive producer for the biggest podcast in Australia, working with the nicest celebrities, and on part-time hours. Sarah's life continued to change in amazing ways, including starting her own podcast about self-improvement. She learned that when we follow our spiritual growth and trust in the universe, synchronicities occur and doors open that lead to even better opportunities than we could have imagined.

    • Trusting in the Divine for Personal GrowthTrusting in the divine and letting go of attachment can lead to personal growth and the manifestation of unexpected opportunities. Recognize the divine presence within you and trust the universe to provide, even in difficult times.

Letting go of attachment and trusting in the divine within us can lead to personal growth and the manifestation of opportunities beyond our imagination. The speaker shares her experience of losing a job and turning to spirituality and self-improvement, leading to a new path filled with joy and purpose. She emphasizes the importance of recognizing the divine presence within us and trusting the universe to provide, even in difficult times. The universe is not unfriendly, but rather a friendly force that gives us what we need, even if it doesn't always look the way we expect. By focusing on personal growth and trusting in the divine, we can overcome challenges and find happiness, even in the face of adversity.

    • Approaching interviews with a mindset of equalityRecognizing the inherent equality and worth of all people enriches interviews and our perspective on the world

True greatness and happiness come not from material possessions or external achievements, but from recognizing the inherent equality and worth of all people. By approaching interviews with a mindset of equality, Sarah McLeod is able to create meaningful connections with her guests and draw out their most authentic and inspiring stories. This perspective not only enriches her podcast, but also allows her to view the world and the people in it with a deeper sense of understanding and appreciation. Whether interviewing a race car driver, a holocaust survivor, or a celebrity, Sarah sees them as equals, and in doing so, creates an environment where they can open up and share their experiences of achieving great things in life.

    • Embracing the unknown leads to personal growthFear of the unknown can hinder growth, but embracing it opens up opportunities for meaningful personal development and positive life changes

Embracing the unknown and stepping out of comfort zones can lead to significant personal growth and new opportunities. Sarah shared her own experience of fearing the unknown and the transformative effect of overcoming that fear. She emphasized that the unknown is not a place of fear, but a field full of possibilities. People often resist change, even if it means continuing to suffer in their current situation. However, Sarah encourages us to be flexible and open to new experiences, as they can lead to meaningful personal growth and positive life changes.

    • Embrace uncertainty and focus on loveFocus on love in the present moment, trust the universe, and embrace life's uncertainty to live it to the fullest

Life is uncertain, and the only certainty we have is death. But instead of being rigid and resisting change, we should be flexible like the reed in the wind. Everything happens for a reason, and the universe is not personal. We should have faith that everything will be okay and focus on the power of love, which is the most powerful force on earth. The past and future are just thoughts, and all we have is the present moment. By focusing on love and syncing our heart and mind, we can attract anything and live life to the fullest. Remember, the universe deals with people based on their expectations, and having faith that everything will be all right can help us manifest our desires at the grand level. So embrace the uncertainty of life, focus on love, and trust that the universe will lead us on our soul journey.

    • The Power of Love: Attracting Abundance and FulfillmentLove transforms our perception, attracts connection, and fosters compassionate interactions. Listen deeply to others to build meaningful relationships.

Love is a powerful force that can change the way we perceive and interact with the world. When we look at things and people through the lens of love, we attract abundance and fulfillment in our lives. This doesn't necessarily mean a material abundance, but rather a sense of connection and meaning. The speaker shared how her own experiences with meditation and synchronicities led her to realize the power of love, and how she strives to approach every interaction with care and compassion. Additionally, she emphasized the importance of truly listening to others and valuing their stories, as it is a way to connect deeply and find the beauty in everyone. The challenge, however, is finding the time and energy to fully engage with all the people and experiences we care about, as there are not enough hours in the day.

    • Prioritizing Inner Peace and Personal GrowthSlow down, meditate daily, listen to inspiring audio books, seek guidance, let go of unhealthy relationships, focus on positive connections for managing a busy life and reducing stress.

Finding ways to slow down and focus on inner growth is crucial for managing a busy life and reducing stress. The speaker shared her personal practices, which include daily meditation and listening to inspirational audio books. She emphasized the importance of taking time for self-care and seeking guidance from mentors and friends when needed. The speaker also highlighted the significance of letting go of unhealthy relationships and focusing on positive connections. Overall, her experiences underscore the importance of prioritizing inner peace and personal growth in the midst of a demanding lifestyle.

    • The importance of authenticity and surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals for personal growth and loveAuthenticity is key to attracting healthier relationships and personal growth. Avoid false advertising and let go of toxic relationships.

Surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals is essential for personal growth and finding true love. False advertising, or presenting a false version of yourself to the world, can keep the right people away. The concept of letting go of toxic relationships and being authentic can lead to relief and the attraction of healthier connections. A conversation with Caroline Mace about prayer and a near-death experience further emphasized the importance of compassion and positivity, even in seemingly insignificant interactions. These lessons have deeply impacted the speaker's understanding of life and relationships.

    • Personal experiences leading to profound insightsEncounters with inspiring people and difficult experiences can lead to new perspectives and a more mindful, grateful life.

Our experiences, even the difficult ones, can lead us to profound insights and connections. The speaker shared a personal story of a car accident and the encounter with a woman who prayed for her recovery. This experience changed her perspective on prayer and the belief in divine guidance. The speaker also mentioned several other interviews that had a significant impact on her life, including those with Joe Dispenza, Bruce Lipton, and Adam Grant. Their teachings on quantum physics, epigenetics, and the importance of rethinking our first answers resonated with her. Overall, these encounters inspired her to live a more mindful and grateful life, and she emphasized the importance of being open to new ideas and experiences.

    • The Law of Cause and Effect: Energy ReturnsUnderstanding that our actions and energy influence our lives, we should strive to radiate positivity and self-care to attract success and happiness.

The energy we put out into the world comes back to us. This was a powerful realization for the speaker after listening to Gary Zhukov's teachings on the law of cause and effect. By giving love and positivity, we attract it back into our lives. Conversely, negativity and betrayal will also return to us. Understanding this spiritual law has transformed the way the speaker approaches life. Sarah, in particular, is admired for the love and positivity she brings to the world through her teachings and essence. The speaker encourages listeners to believe in their ability to create their own lives of greatness and to take time for self-care despite life's demands. Overall, this episode emphasizes the importance of putting good energy out into the world and the profound impact it can have on our lives.

Unstressable with Robert Sapolsky - Revealing Humanity's Inner Workings

Unstressable with Robert Sapolsky - Revealing Humanity's Inner Workings

Today I'll start with a gentle reminder that our upcoming book "Unstressable: A Practical Guide to Stress-Free Living" is available for preorder. It is written by me, Mo Gawdat and my wonderful co-author Alice Law and we hope it will truly make an impact in getting a million people out of Stress.

To help us learn more about Stress, in this episode of Slo Mo, I am honored to welcome Robert Sapolsky, a luminary in the field of neuroscience and a master storyteller of human behavior. A truly remarkable human being. Like a deep and engaging dialogue between friends, Robert shares his journey through the intricate maze of the human brain, discussing the marvels of biology that underpin our emotions, actions, and the essence of what makes us human.

Beyond his groundbreaking research on stress, Robert explores his passion for teaching, his profound insights into the intersection of biology and behavior, and his unyielding curiosity about the human condition. This episode is a celebration of intellectual exploration, the wonders of scientific discovery, and the profound impact of sharing knowledge to illuminate the mysteries of our existence.

    Listen as we discuss:

    • The upcoming release of Unstressable
    • The Biology of Stress
    • How our Compassion sometimes contributes to our Stress
    • How humans are a species of Contradictions
    • How Contextual is Stress
    • The Evolution of our Tribal mentality
    • Dopamine
    • Free Will
    • The Positive impact we can make

Episode 40: John Paul Caponigro - Find Your Way

Episode 40: John Paul Caponigro - Find Your Way
"You really need to define success for yourself, separately from the reactions of other people. If you are waiting to publish the book or get collected by museum X or all of those things that depend on other people, you need to reframe success for yourself. You can't control them nor should you really want to. You could hope that they would come along for the ride. Define success for yourself and then focus on making sure that happens. You can control that. You can get involved in that and make those things happen."
Getting to interview John Paul was definitely at the top of my wish list while visiting Maine during the month of August 2018. As I say in the interview I've been following his work for years and have always been impressed with how generous he is with his teachings and processes and also the depth and beauty of his images. If you are looking for a technical discussion on Photoshop and cameras to choose this is not the one. We had a fairly philosophical conversation about many subjects including defining a mission in life, being present, nature, spirit of place, creativity, play, and how to find your own way as an artist and a human. I love how thoughtful and specific he is with his words and wisdom. It’s no wonder he is a sought after lecturer and teacher. Please enjoy this conversation recorded in John Paul’s home gallery located in Cushing, Maine on a beautiful summer day. And be sure to keep up with him and enjoy what he shares by signing up for his Insights enews subscription (http://johnpaulcaponigro.com/get-news/). A form of environmental art in virtual space, his work is about the perception of nature and the nature of perception. His life’s work is both a call to connection with nature and a call for conscientious creative interaction with our environment during a time of rapid change. Respected as an authority on creativity, photography, and fine art printing, he is a highly sought after speaker, lecturing extensively at conferences, universities, and museums, in venues as diverse as Photoshop World, Google and TEDx.
