    About this Episode

What a crazy season for Bryce, Irving, JG and every guest who came on the show to talk about movies! Bryce and Irving had to actually record the finale episode twice because JG's studio was broken into and all his equipment was stolen. But fear not, the Movie Mafia and others have been donating to help him recoup what he lost.

For this finale, Bryce and Irving look back on all the Blackity-Black films they covered throughout season 2 and gave some awards for movies they loved and some they didn't love.  Catch up on any episodes you missed this season and check out this fun sendoff for season 2!

    Episode 19: The Five Heartbeats

    Episode 19: The Five Heartbeats

Season 2 is almost done, but Bryce, Krissy and JG had to talk about this undeniable classic of Black cinema, 1991's The Five Heartbeats! The music drama follows a fictional Motown era vocal group as they traverse through the additions and egos that broke up many of the real groups of that time period. Robert Townsend, who already got brought up during The Meteor Man episode, directed this flick and wrote it along with Keenan Ivory Wayans. So basically, you need to go watch this movie if you haven't seen it before!

    Episode 18: Boomerang

    Episode 18: Boomerang

What happens when a young womanizer is beat at his own game by a woman who is also his boss? Well he gets to live happily ever after with another woman who he, for some reason, cheats on. That's part of why Bryce and his sister Krissy talked about the 1992 comedy Boomerang this week. Eddie Murphy, Robin Givens and Halle Berry star in this rom-com that has aged well in some ways and not so well in others. Check out this week's episode and think back on this bizarre hit comedy from the early 90's!

    Episode 17: Shottas

    Episode 17: Shottas

Bryce and his homie Arrielle "AR" Mock watched the 2002 Jamaican crime thriller Shottas this week. Even though they couldn't understand most of the dialogue without subtitles, they had fun watching a bunch of reggae and dancehall artists try their hardest to act like street-smart criminals. Check this hood gem and see if you can decipher Jamaican Patois and multiple continuity errors better than Bryce and AR!

    Episode 15: Belly

    Episode 15: Belly

What if I told you Nas and DMX starred in a really long music video directed by the one and only Hype Williams that took every troped of late 90's East Coast Rap music and somehow it got released as if it were actually a movie with a story and a plot? Well that's exactly what 1998's Belly feels like. And despite all of its flaws, Belly is undeniably a hood classic. Bryce and his siblings talk about the movie's legacy, what works in the movie and what is best left in 1998.

    Episode 14: Baby Boy

    Episode 14: Baby Boy

You ever turn to BET when you're channel surfing and notice that the station is playing the movie Baby Boy...again? Well that's because it is a classic of Black cinema. Of course, this movie isn't perfect, but in 2001 the late great John Singleton gave us a highly quotable movie starring Tyrese, Taraji P. Henson, Ving Rhames and Snoop Dogg. Bryce and his siblings talk all about what makes this hood dramedy so special, what hasn't aged well and why it deserves a rewatch!

    Episode 13: Soul Plane

    Episode 13: Soul Plane

What if the comedy classic Airplane was remade as a minstrel show starring a not-yet-famous Kevin Hart, Method Man and Snoop Dogg? Well that's basically what the 2004 comedy Soul Plane is, a minstrel show from start to finish.  Bryce and Sydni talk about the problematic yet somehow still funny flick and why it could never be released today. Check out this cult classic if you haven't already and listen to us talk about it!

    Episode 12: Head of State

    Episode 12: Head of State

It might be hard to imagine now, but back in 2003, many of us never expected a Black man to become the President of the United States.  Luckily Chris Rock decided to make his directorial debut with the film Head of State where a Black Washington DC alderman runs for president. Bryce and Sydni talk about the hilarious ways this movie depicts American politics and some of the shocking similarities this political satire has to the real world craziness of presidential elections. Check this one out if you haven't already, and enjoy the convo!
