Both Squarespace and Ferguson offer valuable solutions for businesses and individuals, respectively. Squarespace provides business owners with valuable analytics tools through their Insights feature, allowing them to grow their business by understanding their site traffic, sales, and marketing effectiveness. Ferguson, on the other hand, offers expertise and assistance for home projects, from product selection to delivery coordination, ensuring a successful outcome for home builders, remodelers, designers, and homeowners. Meanwhile, in a lighter note, the podcast discussed the versatile definition of a limousine, which is not limited to super stretch cars but rather any vehicle with a roomier back seat and a driver. This definition can apply to various types of cars, making them technically limousines.

    • Negative Views on Luxury Cars and LimousinesThe speaker prefers practical and efficient transportation methods like Uber or taxis, and has had mostly positive experiences with taxi drivers. He dislikes stretched limousines and finds them unnecessary and obnoxious.

While some people may prefer the luxury of a limousine or a larger car for special occasions, the speaker has a negative opinion towards them due to their size and what he perceives as a narcissistic culture associated with them. He prefers more practical and efficient means of transportation like Uber or taxis, and has had mostly positive experiences with taxi drivers. However, he dislikes the idea of a stretched limousine, finding it obnoxious and unnecessary. He also shares his negative experiences with Atlanta taxi drivers, but acknowledges that they can be excellent drivers as well. Overall, the speaker values functionality and efficiency over extravagance and luxury.

    • From a protective cloak to a luxurious vehicleThe term 'limousine' originated from a hooded cloak in France, and now refers to a stretched, luxury vehicle

The term "limousine" has an interesting origin and has evolved over time. Originally, a limousine was a hooded cloak from the town of Limousine in France. As people began to build vehicles that protected passengers from the elements, the term "limousine" was used to describe these vehicles, even if they were horse-drawn carriages. The first automobile limousines were built from the ground up, but it became more common to stretch existing cars to create limousines. Luxury cars were the primary targets for limousine conversions due to their association with the wealthy. The term "limousine" has since come to refer specifically to a stretched, luxury vehicle. It's important to remember that the definition of a limousine has expanded beyond just the car itself, with the term also having historical roots in a protective cloak.

    • From car halves to luxurious limousinesLimousines were created by cutting cars in half and adding more car in between in the 1920s. Zigazoo is a safe social media platform for kids, while Squarespace offers flexibility and creativity for website building

Limousines have an interesting origin. Instead of being built from scratch, many limousines are made by cutting a car in half and adding more car in between. This conversion method became popular in the late 1920s when companies like Armstrong-Brewster realized the benefits of using existing cars for conversions. Meanwhile, in the world of social media, Zigazoo stands out as a safe and fun platform for kids to share content and connect with friends. Unlike other social media networks, Zigazoo is 100% human-moderated, ensuring a positive and safe environment for children. As for creating a website, Squarespace's Fluid Engine offers unbreakable creativity with customizable templates and drag-and-drop technology for both desktop and mobile. Whether you're looking to sell merchandise or just share content, Squarespace provides a flexible and user-friendly solution.

    • Creating a Custom Chrysler 300M Stretch LimousineThe process of building a stretch limousine involves extensive modifications to the vehicle's interior, powertrain, and other systems, ensuring a perfect fit and alignment but requiring significant time and resources.

While most stretch limousines are built by extending and modifying existing models like Cadillac or Lincoln town cars, Chrysler once offered custom-built limousines based on the Chrysler 300M. The process of creating a stretch limousine involves stripping the interior, protecting it with fire-resistant materials, elevating it on adjustable rails, cutting it in half, extending various parts such as the drive line and brake lines, and adding a new floor pan. This meticulous process ensures a perfect fit and alignment, but also requires extensive modifications to the vehicle's powertrain and other systems.

    • Modifications to vehicles and their consequencesIllegal or improper vehicle modifications can lead to safety issues and negative brand association. Certification programs can help ensure modifications are done safely.

Modifications to vehicles, even if done legally, can have serious consequences if not done correctly. This was highlighted in the discussion about a limousine fire caused by a modification made years prior. The limousine company, Cadillac, was concerned about their name being associated with the modified vehicle, as they couldn't guarantee the safety of the modifications. The US government considers anyone who cuts a car in half and extends it to be the new manufacturer, but it's important for companies to have certification programs for these modifications to ensure safety. Another interesting topic discussed was the social media platform Zigazoo, which is designed specifically for kids. It's moderated by real people and has built-in privacy protections, making it a safer alternative to other social networks. The platform offers fun features like dance challenges, and kids can create and share videos without the negativity often found on other social media sites. Lastly, the Easter Bunny is coming early this year, and CVS is making it easy to prepare for the holiday with free in-store pickup. Customers can find a variety of Easter-themed items, from toys and egg decorators to pre-filled eggs with goodies. So, hop to it and get your Easter orders in time for the holiday!

    • Asking the right questions can impact your finances greatly, especially when looking for a financial advisor.Consider certified financial planner (CFP) professionals for comprehensive financial planning and trustworthy advice on investments, retirement, and education savings.

Asking the right questions, especially when it comes to your finances, can greatly impact your future. When looking for a financial advisor, consider certified financial planner (CFP) professionals. CFPs are committed to acting in your best interest, offer comprehensive financial planning services, and have passed a rigorous exam. They can advise on various financial matters like investment portfolios, inheritance, retirement plans, and education savings. Trust and high ethical standards are essential in a financial advisor, and CFPs meet these requirements. If you're considering driving a limo, remember that even though they've become extravagant, they shouldn't be significantly longer than the original size. Instead, focus on interior customization to impress clients. You can even buy a limo and become a private limo driver. Additionally, most limos come equipped with telephones as a backup to cell phones.

    • Safety tests and licensing requirements for converting a car into a limousineConverting a car into a limousine requires additional safety tests and licensing, varying by state. Ensure you check specific regulations before attempting conversion and operation.

Converting a regular car into a limousine involves additional safety tests and licensing requirements, which can vary greatly depending on the state. While the safety standards remain the same for any vehicle, the converted limousine must undergo testing again. Some states may only require a form and a fee, while others may ask for more extensive measures such as a limo crash test. These tests ensure the safety of the passengers and the road, but they can add to the cost and complexity of owning a limousine. Ultimately, it's essential to check the specific regulations in your state before attempting to convert and operate a limousine. Additionally, the conversation touched on the idea that limousines can be a fun and unique way to travel, especially in wine country, but it's important to do so responsibly and safely.

    • Factors affecting gas mileage and alternativesConsider fuel-efficient options like a Lincoln stretch limo or a super stretch limo for cost-effective transportation, while alternatives like the 32-foot Hummer limo may not be practical or affordable.

Gas mileage is a significant factor when it comes to owning a vehicle, as poor gas mileage can lead to additional expenses such as gas guzzler taxes. However, there are alternatives like the 32-foot Hummer limo driven by Sean Murphy, which runs on various alternative fuels and energy sources. While impressive, such a vehicle may not be practical or cost-effective for most individuals. Instead, consider more fuel-efficient options like a Lincoln stretch limo for around $30,000 or a super stretch limo for $300,000. Presidential limousines, like the 1939 Sunshine Special and the 1950 Lincoln Cosmopolitan, have a rich history of innovation and security features, including armored bodies and bulletproof glass.

    • Presidential limousines: A testament to safety advancementsFrom bulletproof hardtops to self-contained compartments, presidential limousines have evolved to ensure the President's safety through the use of advanced automotive technology

Throughout history, Presidential limousines have evolved significantly in terms of safety features and design. For instance, the 1961 Lincoln Continental convertible used by President Kennedy, which is now at the Henry Ford Museum, had a rear seat that could be raised and lowered, and a metal hoop behind the driver's seat for the president's safety. After Kennedy's assassination, it was armored with a permanent bulletproof hardtop and remained in the fleet. Another notable car is the 1972 Lincoln Continental used by Presidents Ford and Reagan, which is also at the Henry Ford Museum. The limousines from the 1980s, such as the one used in the movie "In the Line of Fire," featured thick armor doors and bulletproof glass. The Cadillac de Vil from the Bush era was built on an SUV frame, had five-inch thick armor doors, bulletproof glass, and was rumored to have a self-contained passenger compartment with its own secure air supply. The most recent one, from 2009, was a Cadillac designed specifically for President Obama's inauguration. These presidential limousines serve as a testament to the advancements in automotive technology and the importance of safety in protecting the President.

    • A Heartwarming Reminder of Kindness and CompassionEven a misunderstanding can't dim the light of kindness and compassion towards animals and people in need.

There are some incredibly extravagant and unique limousines out there, some even being converted from airplanes. These limos range from armor-plated tanks on wheels to large apartments on wheels with multiple lounges and bars. However, a heartwarming reminder comes from a listener named April, who shares her experience of trying to help homeless people with their pets by buying them supplies, only to find out that the person she helped wasn't actually homeless but was just taking care of someone else's pet. Despite the misunderstanding, April's kindness and compassion towards animals and people in need is inspiring.

    • Making a Positive Impact, No Matter How SmallSmall acts of kindness can make a big difference. Be grateful, spread kindness, and make a positive impact on the world around you.

Small acts of kindness, no matter how seemingly insignificant, can make a big difference. April Cummings, a listener of the Stuff You Should Know podcast, shared her experience of walking in New York City with a heavy bag of dog food, but didn't encounter any homeless pets in need. Instead of feeling disappointed, she decided to make it her mission to help a homeless pet during her weekend visit. This experience served as a reminder for her to be grateful for what she has and to spread kindness. Another listener, who had initially sworn against letting her kids use social media, shared her newfound appreciation for Zigazoo, a social network for kids where they can post and share moderated videos without the risk of social trolling. These stories serve as reminders to be thankful for our blessings and to make a positive impact on the world around us, no matter how small. Whether it's helping a homeless pet or allowing our kids to explore a safe social media platform, every little action counts. The Easter Bunny is also coming early this year, and CVS makes it easy to get all your Easter essentials with free in-store pickup. Hop to it and get your order fast! Jake Johnson (New Girl, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse) and Gareth Reynolds (The Dollop) don't feel qualified to give strangers good advice. Most of their friendship over the last 15 years has been based around dumb bits, but they do (for better or worse) want to try to help people out. Like your friendly local bartender or your tipsy uncle at a family gathering, Jake and Gareth are on the caller's side and trying to help.

Each episode, the guys make several pitches to callers (whose questions range from trivial to serious) with their best attempts of advice. They can't promise their suggestions will be perfect, but it will be the best they've got. Jake and Gareth also occasionally bring on a friend, peer or even an expert to help along the way.

    59. “98% of our net worth is in real estate. Are we in trouble?”
Georgia and James bring a different problem to the table than we’re used to hearing about. In this one, we zoom in on where, exactly, their net worth has come from… and the real risks of these decisions. Having done well in the real estate market, Georgia and James just closed on a fourth property. The glaring issue is that they’re all located in the same neighborhood, amping up the risk of this investment class quite considerably. Georgia is becoming increasingly anxious in the shadow of this risk, urging a diversification from their overloaded 98% commitment to housing. James is not unwilling to hear the argument, which makes this episode more direct and tactical—I love it. There’s a lot to learn here. The biggest question we can ask in this case: Why are they even doing this? What is the end goal? Their answer paints a clear picture of what they need to do.
