    About this Episode

Friends, have you ever felt distant and disconnected from God? Of course, you have. You are not alone in that. But what then? In today’s podcast, Stasi reminds us of the good news: while our feelings may fluctuate, God remains constant and unchanging. Even when we feel like God is hiding from us, we can know that He will never turn His face away. It is in the hard seasons that we come to know God’s grace even more deeply, and can come to rest in the truth that though our experiences may change, our place in the heart of our King never does.

The Gift of Limitations with Sara Hagerty

Stasi welcomes back writer, speaker, wife, and mother Sara Hagerty to discuss her new book, The Gift of Limitations. Sara writes, “What if your greatest weaknesses, the areas of your life you resent the most…are your doorway to rich intimacy with God? What if your limitations were, in fact, your greatest gift?” With vulnerability and wisdom, Sara encourages us to name the limitations we face, so we can both grieve them and surrender them to God. From there, we can lean into the love of God knowing he is already moving in our lives, rest in the goodness of his plan, and uncover a deeper capacity for joy.

In today’s episode, Stasi invites Allen Arnold, author, speaker, and member of the Wild at Heart team, into the studio for an insightful conversation on his new book Risk the Real. Allen encourages listeners to step away from the artificial distractions of our modern world as well as the counterfeit narratives being offered, and instead embrace the story God is telling, the True Story and the one He created us to live authentically with Him in. SHOW NOTES:

    VERSES:

    Isaiah 51:1-3 (NIV) — “Listen to me, you who pursue righteousness and who seek the Lord: Look to the rock from which you were cut and to the quarry from which you were hewn; look to Abraham, your father, and to Sarah, who gave you birth. When I called him he was only one man, and I blessed him and made him many. The Lord will surely comfort Zion and will look with compassion on all her ruins;

he will make her deserts like Eden, her wastelands like the garden of the Lord. Joy and gladness will be found in her, thanksgiving and the sound of singing.

Colossians 1:15-17 (NLT) — Christ is the visible image of the invisible God. He existed before anything was created and is supreme over all creation, for through him God created everything in the heavenly realms and on earth. He made the things we can see and the things we can’t see — such as thrones, kingdoms, rulers, and authorities in the unseen world. Everything was created through him and for him. He existed before anything else, and he holds all creation together.

John 1:1-4 (NLT) — In the beginning the Word already existed. The Word was with God, and the Word was God. He existed in the beginning with God. God created everything through him, and nothing was created except through him. The Word gave life to everything that was created, and his life brought light to everyone.

Join Stasi in a heartfelt conversation with singer-songwriter Christy Nockels. Christy shares her journey to discover God's role in her creativity while realizing that our gifts can sometimes hinder our true desires. Her sister, Mary, sat at the Lord’s feet, listening to what he taught. But Martha was distracted by the big dinner she was preparing. She came to Jesus and said, “Lord, doesn’t it seem unfair to you that my sister just sits here while I do all the work? Tell her to come and help me.”

    CHRISTY NOCKELS BIO

As a worship leader for over 25 years, Christy Nockels would tell you that her heart is to simply lead others to connect and communicate with the living God. Christy began writing music and singing in the church at a young age, as the daughter of a pastor in Oklahoma. She met musician, Nathan Nockels, in 1993 at the Christian Artist Seminar in Estes Park, Colorado and the two married in 1995.

The couple would form the Christian music duo, Watermark, touring nationwide and recording five acclaimed albums, including seven number one radio singles from 1998 to 2005, before laying down their Watermark journey for the sake of their family. Christy and Nathan were also among those invited by Louie and Shelley Giglio to be a part of the very first Passion Conference in Austin, TX, in 1997, which flourished into a fruitful twenty years of the couple songwriting and leading for the Passion

Movement. Christy’s voice and heart can be heard on songs like, “Waiting Here For You,” as well as her songwriting featured on church anthems like, “Lord, I Need You,” and “Healing is in Your Hands.”

Christy now records for Keeper’s Branch Records, the couple’s independent record label, where they’ve enjoyed releasing fan-favorites like Be Held; Lullabies for the Beloved. Christy also launched a podcast in 2016 called, “The Glorious in the Mundane,” which is intentionally focused on helping women in any season of life, find the wonder and awe of God in the moments of the here and now.

Christy and Nathan live in Franklin, TN where they love to gather around the farm table and even make music with their three children, Noah, Elliana and Annie Rose. They also love to spend time making their home, affectionally called Keeper’s Branch, a place of rest for all who gather there.

It is a time to remember how Christ came and all that he has done for us—while looking forward with great anticipation to the promise that he will come again and make all things new.

    Redemptively Known with Lisa Harper

    Redemptively Known with Lisa Harper

Stasi is delighted to have Lisa Harper—speaker, author, scholar, and passionate follower of Jesus—on today’s podcast. With humor and honesty, Lisa shares her journey with Christ and the gracious unfolding of learning to be delighted in by God. God is a “with” God; he loves us so much that he chooses to be close to us no matter where we find ourselves and invites us to lean into him with confidence that we will be held and adored by the King of kings. We are divinely wired to be in intimate relationship with the Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit. The enemy has tried to separate us from that union from the beginning, but God’s story is all about bringing us back to his heart through the redemption that has already been woven in.

    OTHER RESOURCES:

Aiden Wilson Tozer Quote: “For millions of Christians, nevertheless, God is no more real than He is to the non-Christian. They go through life trying to love an ideal and be loyal to a mere principle.”
