I joined Tinder and Bumble for a week. God's speed to all who use these apps regularly.
In my very casual and non-scientific social experiment, I used 4 key questions to gauge the quality of the conversations that I was in store for.
Q1: The Icebreaker
When was the last time you cried?
- Shows emotional maturity
- Weeds out those without critical thinking skills
Q2: The Passion
What are your hobbies and what do you like about them?
- Gives you a glimpse into the passion of the person
Q3: Toxic Person Alert
What do you do for self care?
- If he cannot take care of himself/herself , that is a RED flag. A WAVING red flag.
Q4: The Person's Brand
Look at their bio AFTER talking to them. Is it aligned to the banter?
The amount of effort put into the bio. I think it's the elevator pitch of the individual - the why you should swipe right and match with them.
Did I learn anything? I am not a dating app person. Nairobi has an interesting selection of partners (not my taste but to each their own).
If you DO use dating apps, please stay safe. PROTECT yourself and be smart in your selection.
