social media relationships

The time we spend with people online, isn’t really spending time with them – it’s more the time we spend dwelling on their content.  This actually sounds a lot like the kinds of unhealthy relationships that we tend to find in high school or middle school when you ‘crush’ on someone.  You don’t know them, talk to them, or really interact with them at any level, but you think you know them, and you WANT them to like you.

But the question of being able to keep up with 1000 or more people either that you follow online or that follow you is quite impossible.  You really have to pick among these people which you really want to keep up with, and even then, you might narrow it down to hundreds or your top people (see MySpace) and then all the other people who want to be your friend will see that and…well that’s where it goes.

So why do we try to do it?  Because we’re told by the online gurus that if we want to gain attention – which apparently is the most important thing in web 2.0 and on earth right now…or at least that’s the thought process – if we want the attention, we need to interact.

Hey there,
This week I talk about intimate relationships and why I am not in one. Not the deep dark reason, but the variables of why I'm not in one, the best way I know how... Two stories! 5 years apart but almost similar in the level of cringe.
I also touch on social media as a variable of chaos and impact in the momentum of relationships in this day and age (this sounds really old, I know*)

Wouldn’t it be nice if we knew the secrets to a long lasting “happy” marriage, one that’s strong enough to stand through the test of time. Especially these crazy millennial times!

We’re living in a world where infidelity is just a swipe away -literally there’s apps that provide you with an alibi for your affair! How sad is that!?! Social media definitely gives us a false sense of reality that the grass is always greener on the other side. 

Then there’s some people who choose to stay in a loveless marriage for the sake of the kids. The point is Modern Marriages are FREAKIN HARD and it can seem like the odds are stacked against us!!!
