Stop Blaming Others & Take Full Responsibility

    enJuly 28, 2019

    Podcast Summary

    • Perspective on Entrepreneurship from Gary VaynerchukDeep passion and right timing are crucial for entrepreneurial success. Consider potential downsides like depression and loss of self-esteem before pursuing entrepreneurship.

Entrepreneurship might not be for everyone, and the current business climate, while offering freedoms and opportunities, also comes with risks and potential collateral damage. Gary Vaynerchuk shares his perspective on the importance of deep passion and being in the right time and place to succeed in entrepreneurship. He also emphasizes the potential downsides, such as depression and loss of self-esteem when things don't go as planned. It's crucial for individuals to consider their motivations and capabilities before pursuing entrepreneurship, as it requires a unique combination of passion, resilience, and adaptability.

    • The importance of self-awareness and authenticityKnowing oneself and being authentic leads to personal growth and genuine connections, while relying on material possessions or external validation can lead to fake environments and dangers of pretense, especially in financial dependence on parents.

Self-awareness and authenticity are the coolest things in life. The speaker emphasizes the importance of knowing oneself and being in the best position to succeed, rather than relying on material possessions or external validation. He also warns against fake environments and the dangers of pretense, especially when it comes to financial dependence on parents. The speaker encourages being truthful and transparent, even if it means acknowledging struggles or vulnerabilities. By focusing on personal growth and authenticity, one can put themselves in a better long-term position and build genuine connections with others.

    • Lessons from failed attempts and family businessesAuthenticity matters, entitlement can lead to disappointment, and family businesses can inspire unique motivations and challenges

The Internet is filled with people pretending to have figured out a successful lifestyle and selling it to others for profit. However, economic downturns can expose the lack of authenticity and leave people feeling misled. Personal experiences, such as building a family business only to leave with nothing due to circumstances beyond control, can shape one's perspective on entitlement and motivate a desire to prove oneself. The importance of authenticity and the potential consequences of entitlement are crucial lessons to remember. Additionally, family businesses can have unique dynamics, and the desire to repay the sacrifices made by loved ones can lead individuals to pursue their goals in unexpected ways. However, the tension between maintaining loyalty and forging one's own path can be a complex issue.

    • Navigating Family Conflicts with SuccessSuccess brings challenges to family relationships and personal pride, but empathy and humility can help navigate these situations. Don't make excuses, work hard, and take advantage of opportunities to achieve goals.

Success can lead to family conflicts and challenges to one's pride, but empathy and humility can help navigate those situations. The speaker, despite achieving fame in the liquor business, faced issues with his father due to the perception that he had taken over the family store. However, he understood his father's perspective and chose to live humbly, saving money to start a business with his brother. The speaker emphasized that success is not easier now than it was in the past, and that hard work and determination are essential for achieving goals. He also encouraged listeners not to make excuses and to take advantage of the opportunities the internet provides. Ultimately, the speaker's story highlights the importance of resilience, empathy, and humility in the face of challenges and success.

    • The Value of Failure in EntrepreneurshipFailure is a necessary part of growth, and those who can learn from their mistakes and empathize with others can make effective leaders.

Failure is an inevitable part of entrepreneurship, and the skills and experiences gained from those failures can make for valuable leaders. The speaker emphasizes that not everyone is prepared for the harsh realities of business, and the lack of empathy from those who have never experienced failure can lead to a disconnect. He also expresses concern for the potential negative consequences, including suicide, that can result from public failure. The speaker encourages self-awareness and emphasizes the importance of learning from mistakes, rather than avoiding them altogether. He believes that those who have experienced failure can bring unique perspectives and empathy to leadership roles. The speaker's personal experiences have led him to focus on entrepreneurship content to help limit the number of suicides in the startup world. Overall, the takeaway is that failure is a necessary part of growth, and those who can learn from their mistakes and empathize with others can make effective leaders.

    • Blaming external factors for financial strugglesPersonal accountability is essential for financial success and growth. Instead of blaming external factors, focus on what we can control and work towards improvement.

There seems to be a prevalent attitude in society to blame external factors, such as banks or economic systems, for personal financial struggles, rather than taking accountability for our own actions. This was highlighted in a recent podcast discussion, where the speakers criticized the failure of an Uber-like dry cleaning startup and blamed it on external factors, rather than acknowledging personal responsibility. This mentality was also seen during the 2007 financial crisis, where people bought homes they couldn't afford and blamed the banks for the economic downturn. It's important to remember that personal accountability is crucial for financial success and growth. We need to take responsibility for our own actions, learn from our mistakes, and strive to improve ourselves and our businesses. Instead of blaming external factors, let's focus on what we can control and work towards building a better future. So, let's take a lesson from this discussion and strive for personal accountability in all aspects of our lives. Don't forget to share this podcast and subscribe for more insightful discussions.

The Most Important Question In Business

The Most Important Question In Business

Here’s the problem most people run into when they create content online: They think they have to have something to say. So many of you aren’t putting out content online because you think you need to have the perfect message, or something “valuable” to share (based on your own arbitrary opinion). And what I’m telling you is, you will get more business if you put out literally anything. If you’re an auto dealer, you could put out a 5 min video every afternoon just recapping what happened in your day. If you’re a real estate agent, you could post updates on what your opinions are about the Super Bowl teams. Get on social media and tell your truth … it’s really that simple.

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

5 Core Pieces of Value to Get You to Succeed

There are so many people racing to earn more money than they can even spend even if they have to sacrifice their happiness and livelihood to do so. The really disturbing part about this is that most of these people only want the money so they can be flashy and show off their overly expensive cars (that they don't even want) and other dumb things to other people. Happiness needs to be the Northstar that we strive towards. If we aren't aiming to be happy, then is it really worth having more money than you can spend and more cars than you can drive? —

Ep10. Time for CHANGE: where to look for signs & find courage to change your path

Ep10. Time for CHANGE: where to look for signs & find courage to change your path

Corine talks about making the hard hard choice to retire from her dream career performing for Cirque du Soleil Koozå in order to not get ”too comfortable”. But knowing when is the time for change isn’t always easy, especially with all of life’s distractions & responsibilities. But we have a responsibility to first & foremost to ourselves & our happiness.

5 signs its time for change:

    1. What is you gut/intuition telling you? Is it demanding your attention? Is it dropping sides of interest two something unexpected? Are you curious about something that you just keep putting aside but it keeps creeping to the forefront of your mind? All these things are your gut trying to tell you something. Write down what you’re feeling. What you’re afraid of. What you crave. W3hat your needs are. Whats you know to be true about yourself. Let it out freely on paper. Day after day & you will find your answers.
    2. Stop waiting fro the “right time” or to “feel ready”. There’s no such thing! There will always be a bazillion reasons to hold off. Lean into the fear, learn as you go.
    3. If you’re feeling too comfortable or complacent in your current situation. When we get comfortable we stop pushing our limits, our creativity dwindles & that fire in the belly begins to dim. I want you fired up!!
    4. You deserve to be happy!!! If you’re finding yourself resentful or genuinely unhappy where you’re at, be it job, relationship etc. You deserve a life of joy. Sometimes we have to ask for it, demand it & create it ourselves rather than wait for circumstance to change on its own.
    5. Follow the itch, the things you’re curious about the dreams you’ve bene putting aside cause you don’t have time. If its coming through, it deserves your attention.
