    • The name 'bazooka' has an intriguing originThe name 'bazooka' comes from a musical instrument and a military weapon, with origins in a gum and a big talker's term

The name "bazooka" has an interesting origin with connections to both a gum and a military weapon. The rocket-propelled grenade, a serious threat to armored vehicles during World War II, was named after the bazooka, a novelty musical instrument invented by comedian and musician Bob Burns. The bazooka, with its wide bell and telescopic body, predates the military weapon and is believed to have originated from the slang term "bazooka," meaning a person with a big mouth or someone who talks a lot. The weapon's name was likely inspired by the instrument due to its large size and distinctive shape. The connection between the two may seem unlikely, but it serves as a reminder of the rich history behind common words and names. So, the next time you hear the word "bazooka," you can appreciate the fascinating story behind it.

    Roxanne and Cort’s New Year’s Resolutions — Episode 056

Since New Year’s Eve falls on the same Tuesday as the release of a new episode, we felt it would be fitting to reflect on the past year and share some of our resolutions moving into 2020.

On this episode, we discuss the ways we’re both going to make sure self-care is a priority in the new year. As much as it gets thrown around as a buzzword these days, it’s so important, and absolutely necessary in order to be our best selves. Whether it’s getting more sleep, exercise or water — or whatever it means to you — self-care should always be at the top of the list.

We also share some of our mantras for the new year, such as:

    • “Because I love myself enough to keep going.”
    • “Don’t feel guilty for doing what’s best for your body.”
    • “Eat lunch, don’t be a jerk.”

Katz joins to talk about his new book Gangsters of Capitalism: Smedley Butler, the Marines, and the Making and Breaking of America's Empire.
