The Bloodbash Interviews

With The Bloodbash only a few days, we jumped online with the five bands who will be entertaining the masses over two nights.  Here are all the things that were said,  

The Bloodbash is a two night music fest put together by ourselves and Resist The Throne in support of and raising money for The Canadian Blood Services.  The boys from Resist the Throne will be joined on stage by Complicit, The Scarecrowz, Ultimus, and Wyntr.

It's the start of a new season.  And season 5 of the podcast is a bit of a special one as it is also the 25th anniversary of when we met and subsequently dated and pretty much the reason this podcast exists. 
So we start things pff this year letting you know what to expect from this season and how the 1999 will be integral and a big part of this season. 
We then continue with our trend of starting each season off with out anti-Valentines Day narrative and we go back to 1999 to talk about and review the first movie we ever to see togther, Cruel Intentions.  Does it stand up 25 years later?  Give a listen to find out. 
We finish things off by finding out how well we know each other after 25 years.  We'll give you  a hint, not well.

In this extra special episode of the podcast, we got the chance to interview the charismatic and charming Charlie Kerr, lead singer of Hotel Mira, who are currently in the last legs of a cross-Canada tour in support of their new album, “I Am Not Myself”.  A tour that finishes up right here in Ottawa at The SAW Gallery on Feb 18th. 

We talk to Charlie about some highlights and awesome moments from the tour, the new album, with its wonderful blend of catchy beats and introspective lyrics, and the connection people make through music and other mediums.  

We even take some time to delve into some pop culture shenanigans with Charlie talking about unapologetic love of cinema and other arts, the nonsense of toxic fandom, and he takes us behind the scenes on a few of the tv sets he’s had the pleasure of working on.  

It's a news heavy episode as we start things off catching up on all the things we've missed the last few weeks.  We finish things off talking about the interesting story behind the 1984 martial arts flick, New York Ninja,

It’s an all Canadian episode this week on the podcast as we get ready to celebrate Canada Day. 

Not only are we shining a spotlight on the day, but also on the month as we talk about some Canadian films focused on Queer and Trans stories that were recommended by Can Film Day.

And what are outdoor festivities with out music?  This week we take a listen to and talk about @tamingsariband’s amazing sophomore album, ‘My Heart, My Love’.

We then play a Canadian version of stuck on a deserted island, picking one movie, one tv series, one album and one book that we would take with us to keep us entertained if we were stranded and alone. 

We end the episode with a wonderful chat with @thespacebetweenofficial, a stellar hard rock three piece from Ottawa, coming in fresh off the release of the first EP, that EP’s release party and a nomination for best Newcomers of the Year at this years Capital Music Awards.

We have a new episode for you!

It's a simple but fun episode.  We talk about our love for Ted Lasso before making our way Across The Spider-Verse.  We then give mention to Art by Veya and Alanna Sterling, two artists/creators that we have a fondness for and felt like sharing with our listeners and followers.

We finish things off with the introduction of a fun new game, a game we have borrowed from The Big Picture podcast (check them out), where we take a specific year and five genres of film and we both create our own binge-worthy movie watchlist that you then get to vote on.
