It's the start of a new season.  And season 5 of the podcast is a bit of a special one as it is also the 25th anniversary of when we met and subsequently dated and pretty much the reason this podcast exists. 
So we start things pff this year letting you know what to expect from this season and how the 1999 will be integral and a big part of this season. 
We then continue with our trend of starting each season off with out anti-Valentines Day narrative and we go back to 1999 to talk about and review the first movie we ever to see togther, Cruel Intentions.  Does it stand up 25 years later?  Give a listen to find out. 
We finish things off by finding out how well we know each other after 25 years.  We'll give you  a hint, not well.

Grab your crucifix and have inappropriate feelings for your step-siblings as we become completely infatuated with 1999’s Cruel Intentions. Where did Sarah Michelle Gellar get her rich divorcee wardrobe and can we buy it now? Why are we supposed to root for serial abuser Ryan Phillippe when he doesn’t even redeem himself so much as just pause on being a total douchebag? Cuz it sure isn’t his non-existent chemistry with Reese Witherspoon! But can we get more Selma Blair forever and ever please? We’ll let you know as soon as we finish listening to Placebo for the 100th time because they still slap. 

Megan and Michelle get squirmy about consensual adult incest, social constructs, purebred dogs, family bonding, victimless crime, legislating morality, and Jesus riding a dinosaur.

What's the movie that made you?

For me, it was Cruel Intentions. In a lot of ways, it's a blueprint for my entire sexuality.

This week, Jake and I talk about the movie, why it meant so much to me (and still does!), and wonder whether this explains our collective fascination with fauxcest.
